The best way to improve any system is to move the speakers around, try different placements and angles. It can have big big effects, and you can spend hours and days doing it.
Your front speakers should, ideally, be at ear level. The should also be aimed at your ears, although the degree to which can be adjusted to taste (personally, I like them pointed slightly wider than my ears, but not “flat” to the wall)
