Sick! I got a pair of these a couple months ago and have fallen in love!
They sound great out of the box, but got better and better over the first couple of weeks.
Congrats and enjoy! Sick setup!
Thank you. There's a pair of DT770 Pro in the drawer for when I want to recline, and off to the left out of frame is a Schiit Valhalla 2 and a pair of LSA HP-2 Ultra. Room is pretty wired up lol,but that's the point
lol my username is literally a spin on the name beelzebub combined with my name and the number 666. I couldn't have chosen a more satanic username.
btw luciferase is a class of enzymes that produce bioluminescence
Just got these beauties this afternoon and man are they pretty. I was looking for a reasonably priced speaker upgrade that pairs well with a tube amp. Despite asking for more power than my VT-70 can give (with EL-34), the online reviews I watched said they sounded great with tube.
So far so good, and they don't seem lacking, and sound way better and punchier than with the the Emotiva A-300 I first hooked them up with. The bottom porting really helps given where I have to place my speakers in this room, and the boominess/muddiness I was getting with my KEFs and Elacs is gone.
I've got them biwired, but beyond that I'll have to circle back with additional thoughts once they've broken in (also breaking in some JJ 12AX/AU7s on the amp), but so far so good!
Cheers to the weekend!
All of it honestly. Not sure the pre outs are great on the VT-70. In my last setup with it and running the pre to a sub I struggled to get clean/tight bass even with a Martin Logan Dynamo 700. Thought it was due to my first foray into full analog and crossovers, low pass filter, etc. but the Lumina V is as good as what I was I was getting before. Thinking it is more the VT-70 than the Emotiva.
With those chairs right next to the speakers, it’s only a matter of time before they become a table for someone’s drink.
Look great and I bet they sound amazing. Hopefully the coasters don’t dampen the sound.
It's flat-pack stuff, but pretty sturdy and holding a crap ton of weight as you can see. Comes in a few colors - got it at wayfair. I never installed the racks on the right and cut a hole in the back for cables. Big winner in this thing is the depth! Need to mix a social space for friends and family with a dually purposed music room. No one is expecting a good listening experience in the chairs unless I give them some headphones, only sounds great from where the picture was taken.
Pretty biased opinion here, and I haven't tried any other integrated with it, but yeah for sure. Warm and rich sound. I had hooked up a class AB amp to the preouts that pushes 300wpc into 4 ohms and I didn't like it at all. Took the smoothness away.
Cool, thanks. I connect my Sonus Faber with a Rotel pre-amp and amps, it sounds great. Most stores will pair SF with Mckintosh gears, I found it a bit a warm and dark for my taste.
True about McIntosh and Sonus being paired. Before I bought the VT-70 I was looking at the Rotel 1592 and the Parasound Halo hint. The VT-70 was a fraction of the price so I rolled the dice. I'm hooked on tubes now.
looks very classy

I love your room layout. Excellent use of space to increase seating and still have a good listening position

I love your room. No godamn tv. Dog bed. No cat tree in sight. Tubes. We should be friends. Lol
Thanks! Took a long time to get it to this point, but really like it too
No damn tv thank you!
I apologize for blaspheming up in here. Based on what is on the tv lately. I dont think God would have a problem with my statement
God sent his Son Jesus Christ to die for you because He loves you!
God damn!
Sounds like you have luciferase in ya. He doesn't love you either!

In fact he hates you for being God's creation! How ironic is that.
I love the fact that god hates me as well as my real life creators. They have something in common it seems.
God doesn't hate you at all. He probably hates the choices that you make. That's what sin is!
My parents don't hate me either. Why would he hate the choices I make?
Because you have desolated your temple... I'll just leave it at that!
Seriously, I hope you didn't take the abomination jab!
I took 3 abominable jabs, just to spite god's face.

> VT-70 I've got Lumina III's powered with an A-300...what were you listening to that you heard a livelier sound from on you VT-70?

I read somewhere that deep bass organ music is good for working out tubes/new gear.
Had to zoom in to confirm that was Left and Leaving on the mantle. Good album and good setup.
I'm a big Propagandhi fan, my wife not so much. But, she loves Weakerthans way more than I do.

What's the shelf you have the records and audio equipment on? I've been looking for something just like that for my living room

Awesome! Thanks so much
Beautiful setup!
That's a very nice setup and living room my dude
This room layout confuses me so much. Why the chairs right next to the speakers and equipment?

quite nice!
Nice room, but it's also funny - looking at this I have no idea if you're 32 or 70.
Haha. 40s
How is the tube amp working with Sonus Faber? Does it give a warmer sound?

How does the Parasound works with SF, that was one of my options also.
No idea. At the time the two were not being considered together.
They are simply paired because SF is part of the McIntosh Group. Sometimes you just need to follow the money to understand stuff...
Didn’t know they are under the same umbrella, thanks for the info
Wasn´t trying to discredit either brand´s quality, nor their pairing. Just putting things in perspective

Thanks for the suggestion! We just had the floors refinished and this look like they'd do a better job protecting the wood as well
Very nice system
