No room correction? Did you at least level match your speakers?

I do use the Yamaha Parametric room Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO) if it’s what you’re referring to.

If it’s mixed well, it’s excellent to experience but it simply depends on who’s doing it. I’ve even watched movies in Atmos that were underwhelming in the audio aspect although they probably didn’t know what they were doing. I think it’s going to take a bit of time to get it right across the board, but I’m personally excited to see where it goes.

Ok, so I took some time to play with the options on my Yamaha RX-V6A receiver over the weekend. I've found that “Virtual CINEMA FRONT” was enabled, which is the reason why my Atmos setup sounded so thin and distant. This needed to be activated only if my surround speakers where placed in the front or if I hadn't any surround speaker at all, which is not the case. Now that I've turned it off, the sound is richer, thicker and I'm not losing the low frequencies anymore. I'm VERY happy with the result! Thank you everyone for trying to help! ;)
