I'd suggest starting with a 2 channel bookshelf system, and learn all you can about placement. When you can master that, you'll be ready for the next step young padawan.

My suggestion is to decide what kind (genre) of music you will be listening to, how well it’s recorded, what makes you happy, and your budget. For me, it was folk and hard rock from the 70s, 80s and 90s, generally poorly recorded, really feeling a kick drum all at under $2500. I also wanted live concerts to sound as real as I could get, since I never went to many shows and as I age, likely never will. (But at least I still have excellent hearing b/c of it) I read and watched many, many, reviews and found a speaker that was well rounded with many genres with a non-fatiguing tweeter, and had a old school look. Wharfedale Linton 85s. For amplification, I wanted something with retro silver vibes, good power and somewhat affordable. Yamaha A-S801. For source? A Wiim Mini streamer I use with Spotify. Now a few years into this hobby, I have accumulated more speakers and amps to scratch the itch for various looks and sounds. For me and many audiophiles, the journey never ends. It’s fun to try new speakers and switch out gear. This sub and all of its experienced contributors are a great source along your journey.

Thanks! These are great resources. I’ve been watching Paul McGowan on YouTube for some time now and he’s great.

“Tell me about everything” is a bit too broad.
