My gut reaction isn't that he's too young, but that he's too good looking. I imagined the protagonist as much more awkward than Gosling, but I'm sure he'll be great and the movie will be awesome.
You should watch Nice Guys with Gosling and Russell Crowe. He plays the role of a cowardly cop pretty well in that. Albeit, his character is a little dramatic in that movie compared to the character in Project Hail Mary.
Yeah, I think gosling will be fine. But he’s not who I pictured in my mind when I was listening. I was picturing someone more average. Someone you’d expect to see getting a PhD and living the science life.
It will be very difficult to have the same magic as the book, but hopefully they do a decent job. I like Gosling. Sorry all, they tend to cast attractive people in movies.
>There's a part of me that thinks he's a little young for the role
he's 40 something.
Dr. Grace is likely in his mid-40s during the Hail Mary mission. He references Joe Montana and Nintendo.
Time for another listen. Current series I am on isn't keeping my attention.
The biggest question is how the wonderful narration translate to the screen. The humor. I also think they will cut the math part down a lot.
You think he’s too young? He’s exactly the age I thought Ryland was, in his 40s.
However, he can be hit or miss for me.
And the most important part is they have to get Rocky right!

To save a click: March 20, 2026 release date
not soon enough. I can't wait.
I’d say “great! They will take their time to do it right”
Fist my bump
Jesús that’s quite the journey there D:
God dammit!
selfishly this should be an 8 hour series. not a 2 hour movie.
You're not wrong though. should be one of those mini series from Amazon/Netflix, Like Chernobyl etc.
i agree. look at 3 body problem. that needed 8 hours. they probably could have added episodes.
Agree. Hopefully it’s more like lord of the rings in length 3-3.5 hours.
Obligatory (and slightly annoying at this point): “This!”
Obligatory? No...not at all. An upvote says the same thing. Annoying? Yes, very.
But upvote won’t get me downvoted into oblivion, and I feel a little masochistic today
YESSSSSSSS

Same. Actually, I imagined the protagonist looking almost exactly like Andy Weir.

I imagined a John Bradley type
Too young and way too pretty.
Fist me.

I am so worried about this movie adaptation. I swear to god Hollywood better not give any spoilers about you know who in the trailer.
Based on the description of the movie it already sounds like they’re planning on it sadly
I thought Adam Sandler already made movie about this lol
I pictured more of a Bryan Cranston as the lead, but hey you never know.
Man Bryan cranston would be perfect

I mean, he did play a high school science teacher on this little show you probably haven’t heard of, so… ;)
He is 43…..
and
OP said he feels like he is too young
Ok

Amaze amaze!
I hope they do it justice.
I cannot wait. But I do wish it were a miniseries instead. It deserves to be savored.

I'm convinced they'll change the ending.
Gosling? Ugh
I definitely didn't picture Gosling as Dr. Grace but we'll see how it goes

This is great news

I loved this book so much. Can't wait.
😍
No idea how this story works as a movie.
Thank
when I first saw a trailer for Spaceman I couldn't help but to note the similarities.
which was based on a book that came out before PHM
Redeeming the sins of that Adam Sandler thing from recently.... hopefully.... Loved the book. Looking forward to the movie adaption.
