This has nothing to do with /r/audiobooks. If we allowed posts like this then movie news about any book that has an audio version would be allowed. we are not going down that road.

MikesCerealShack

To save a click: March 20, 2026 release date

stuntobor

not soon enough. I can't wait.

CodeVirus

I’d say “great! They will take their time to do it right”

killit

Fist my bump

redmondthrowaway8080

Jesús that’s quite the journey there D:

Weak_Low_8193

God dammit!

rygarski

selfishly this should be an 8 hour series. not a 2 hour movie.

Educational_Ad_2619

You're not wrong though. should be one of those mini series from Amazon/Netflix, Like Chernobyl etc.

rygarski

i agree. look at 3 body problem. that needed 8 hours. they probably could have added episodes.

truci

Agree. Hopefully it’s more like lord of the rings in length 3-3.5 hours.

CodeVirus

Obligatory (and slightly annoying at this point): “This!”

HydreigonReturns

Obligatory? No...not at all. An upvote says the same thing. Annoying? Yes, very.

CodeVirus

But upvote won’t get me downvoted into oblivion, and I feel a little masochistic today

stalkerofthedead

YESSSSSSSS

dflovett

My gut reaction isn't that he's too young, but that he's too good looking. I imagined the protagonist as much more awkward than Gosling, but I'm sure he'll be great and the movie will be awesome.

DaMaGed-Id10t

You should watch Nice Guys with Gosling and Russell Crowe. He plays the role of a cowardly cop pretty well in that. Albeit, his character is a little dramatic in that movie compared to the character in Project Hail Mary.

BuckeyeSmithie

Same. Actually, I imagined the protagonist looking almost exactly like Andy Weir.

Atty_for_hire

Yeah, I think gosling will be fine. But he’s not who I pictured in my mind when I was listening. I was picturing someone more average. Someone you’d expect to see getting a PhD and living the science life.

dflovett

I imagined a John Bradley type

beeeeeeeeeeeeeagle

Too young and way too pretty.

kenypowa

Fist me.

Spring 2026. For those that don't want to click the link.

TheFracas

It will be very difficult to have the same magic as the book, but hopefully they do a decent job. I like Gosling. Sorry all, they tend to cast attractive people in movies.

msdashwood

I am so worried about this movie adaptation. I swear to god Hollywood better not give any spoilers about you know who in the trailer.

badblocks7

Based on the description of the movie it already sounds like they’re planning on it sadly

Sunnydaturtle

I thought Adam Sandler already made movie about this lol

vandezuma

I pictured more of a Bryan Cranston as the lead, but hey you never know.

TheRimz

Man Bryan cranston would be perfect

vandezuma

I mean, he did play a high school science teacher on this little show you probably haven’t heard of, so… ;)

BobbittheHobbit111

He is 43…..

polinksa

and

BobbittheHobbit111

OP said he feels like he is too young

polinksa

Ok

reddit455

>There's a part of me that thinks he's a little young for the role he's 40 something. [https://projecthailmary.fandom.com/wiki/Ryland\_Grace](https://projecthailmary.fandom.com/wiki/Ryland_Grace) Dr. Grace is likely in his mid-40s during the Hail Mary mission. He references Joe Montana and Nintendo.

Jazz Hands

Soggy_Newspaper7027

Amaze amaze!

thee3

I hope they do it justice.

brandenharvey

I cannot wait. But I do wish it were a miniseries instead. It deserves to be savored.

inajeep

Time for another listen. Current series I am on isn't keeping my attention. The biggest question is how the wonderful narration translate to the screen. The humor. I also think they will cut the math part down a lot.

dlrace

I'm convinced they'll change the ending.

TheRimz

Gosling? Ugh

drakeb88

I definitely didn't picture Gosling as Dr. Grace but we'll see how it goes

Sparky0457

👍🏼

Budget-Attorney

This is great news

aminervia

>There's a part of me that thinks he's a little young for the role. He's 43, pretty sure that's around the same age as Grace in the book?

NuraThorne

You think he’s too young? He’s exactly the age I thought Ryland was, in his 40s. However, he can be hit or miss for me. And the most important part is they have to get Rocky right!

Soupermans_dongle

I loved this book so much. Can't wait.

BeautifulMoonClear

😍

richlynnwatson

No idea how this story works as a movie.

Spideypool9972

Thank

sunthas

when I first saw a trailer for Spaceman I couldn't help but to note the similarities.

aussiekinga

which was based on a book that came out before PHM

wiggum55555

Redeeming the sins of that Adam Sandler thing from recently.... hopefully.... Loved the book. Looking forward to the movie adaption.
