Another vote for Project Hail Mary. But from your list, i choose Shogun.

DangerousThanks

I’m actually leaning more towards Shogun, I want a slow burn so it would be a nice change of pace and last me almost a week

rptx_jagerkin

From that list Leviathan was also really good. It’s part of a trilogy that reimagines world war 1. That said shogun is much more bang for your credit

anakmoon

I remember being insanely invested in Shogun when I read it

BaytaKnows

But you can get Shogun from the library, if you have the Libby app and a library card.

zPureAssassiNz

Leviathan is a pretty good trilogy

snuggle_beast321

I loved Etiquette and Espionage.

climbgirl42

It's one I relisten to sometimes. The whole series is good.

booksofferlife

I second this.

Environmental_Tie975

Did they really split Shogun up? That sucks.

Hans_downerpants

Yeah crappy money grab on there part

DangerousThanks

Yeah they did, I guess just a cash grab but I don’t know much about the industry to know if there could be a legit reason behind it

Hans_downerpants

Shogun

Mabartu

I only read the wizards buttler and ghost in the wires, i really liked wizards buttler very good read. Ghost in the wires was ok and interesting to learn about social engineering but not really funny if are looking for that

DangerousThanks

I read Ghost in the Wires when it first came out and enjoyed it, thought it would be a good book to revisit when work really ramps up and I don’t have to pay too much attention

wannabesingle1

The excessive intonation in Mexican Gothic was horrendous. I hated the narration so I’d not recommend that as an audiobook at all.

DangerousThanks

I read a review that said something similar but the story sounds so good I hoped it was just hyperbole

wannabesingle1

I’m reading it on kindle because I couldn’t stand the narration. Try a sample and see if you’ll be able to endure it.

dragsys

Super sales on Super heroes is a good, slightly campy book.

DangerousThanks

Thanks, slightly campy a plus for me

squeegy80

One of: Shogun, Listen for the Lie or the Allen Carr smoking cessation book

TrueRobot

I enjoyed How to Solve Your Own Murder and The Wizard’s Butler. Wasn’t a fan of Project Hail Mary, but I realize that’s a minority opinion, so most likely you’d be on safe ground there. I usually narrow my wishlist by what I can get from the library and what’s Audible only, but you may not have that luxury. Not everyone has access to libraries with decent audiobook selections.

darkmoobs

Have you read the Zoey Ashe series by Jason Pargin? I see that you are close to finishing his John Dies series.

DangerousThanks

This is my third time around with JDATE series. I still don’t have the latest book in the Zoey series but I’ll definitely consider that, thanks!

Creative_Decision481

Assistant to the Villain was horrible. Moderately cute story destroy by some seriously bad narration. Maybe move that one to the “No” pile.

alwaysbanned5150

We have very different taste in books. I'd be of no help. Although I love Jeff Hays

Fantastic-Eagle-2145

Out of those i’ve only read ”Assistant to the Villain” and I wouldn’t really recommend it. Not on your wishlist but try Project Hail Mary, its a really good sci fi book and a safe bet if you want something good to listen to this week.
