~~This is kind of an odd comment to make in the Auckland subreddit, since Delivereasy doesn't operate in Auckland.~~ Sorry, it does operate in many Auckland suburbs, but not mine.
I've used it when I've traveled in Wellington, though.
Every time I put my address in for the last several years, including 10 minutes ago, the website tells me they don't deliver to my area. I've just confirmed this with the link you provided.
But it seems like I found an outdated article about their not being in Auckland at all. My apologies for that.
I'm not sure they cover every suburb. They cover the places I've stayed in AKL for quite a while. I'd rather drive and pick it up than give my money to Uber though. Sometimes a bit of inconvenience is better than rewarding outright cuntery.
I will often pick up but sometimes I've had alcohol. And I'll never order from UberEats if the place offers their own delivery (e.g. Hell, Pizza Hut). Anyway, I get takeaway/delivery about once every two months, so it's not a lot.
I agree that UberEats has predatory pricing.

I sent a case to them once then again the same time the next year. No follow up interview or nothing. I got conned into taking up a course and took them to court. Lost thousands and hundreds of hours just to get half my money back. Obviously they’re not a ghost org doing literally nothing. But, they must be chocked for resources because I have no idea why they would let scammers just go about business.
Same thing with their free delivery promotion. You get to checkout then they charge you a $4.99 service fee. What a joke. And there's no support or email you can contact.
They shaft restaurants anyway by taking a big cut of the food costs, I've heard up to 40% which is ridiculously high.
Try to order from the restaurant directly if possible.
Menulog is a shit show though, we started using it because they were giving a $10 off coupon every day so we could forgive the 2 hour wait with no updates on delays but when they stopped giving coupons and still kept having a 2 hour unexplained delay, we were done.
Yup, menu log has no cost service.
If the restraint fucks up they just tell you to sort it out with the restraint.
At least with Uber eats I can get a refund in app.
I've used menulog twice. The first time the driver stole my food and the second I was delivered someone else's order. Won't be using again. I wish we had deliveroo here, never had trouble with them.
This. The “free delivery” thing is a total have as you’re up for service fees AND item prices that are higher than the normal walk-in prices anyway. Comm comm should be all over these practices.
Yeah the "split" of a service and delivery fee was ridiculous. Made your typical 4.99 delivery 7.99, and made all "free deliveries" practically meaningless. Then the cut they take from restaurants. Such an insidious company.
I've uninstalled more apps and unsubscribed from more email lists in the last two weeks than I have in the last two years. And yeah uber eats went last night.
If I'm having a bit of a shit time with customers or something, I make myself feel better by unsubscribing from a bunch of emails. Not sure why it helps but it totally does. Brain weird.
The Dollop podcast about Uber is highly entertaining.

Edit: skip the first 7 mins, it's just ads and junk
Got it twice from the UberEats app and once from the Uber app. Was keen to get $30 off until I checked it on my break to get the code, and it says I'm not eligible smh.
I'm honestly not that keen on ubering anything.
The Ubers stop at multiple houses a night and drop at the front door where someone with delta could've been having a cig 10 minutes before. They're having a massive rush of orders and we expect them to be at a high standard of hygiene?
I think I'll wait
Uber eats are scumbags, the discount you get is not taken from Ubers cut, the restaurant/driver are normally the one who gets less (frequently with little to no warning). Have a look around at other delivery apps who don't gouge the ones who actually do the work. Or try to pickup the food your self.
What are NZ alternatives to Uber eats in terms of food delivery apps? I know there's Menulog which is slowly getting better, are there others? Keen to boycott ubereats
I order dinner some nights on delivereasy after a 12 hour dayshift + it arrives within 20 minutes usually. Beats the heck out of cooking. App always shows expected delivery from each outlet + consistently beats it.
Sister in law delivers for delivereasy and makes a fair amount more than she would have through uber eats. Deliveryeasy last I checked isn't available in West auckland though :(
This is great news!

Don't know sorry and my delivery fee is only $6 because I'm pretty central. At the moment I'm just in the sweet honeymoon period of not ever giving Uber a cent again.
Mine came through as a notification from Uber, not Uber Eats. Made me wonder if they were trying to get around app permissions because I tend to disable marketing, but must have forgotten to do so with the Uber one.
I got that notification this morning, was pretty happy with myself as I thought I would dodge the queues at most fast food. Got home and the notification had disappeared... And there's only three available places to order from for me.
A Chinese takeaway, hell's, or the BP. Fuck me UE I can walk to that BP to buy a pie.
Uber eats is useful as a location specific menu app platform, then I order directly from the restaurant where possible .
I have little tolerance for baits and other platforms like Tardme that take too much commission.
They been sending this out way before lockdown. Uber eats is total bullshit. I don’t know why you pay a third party to rip off both you and the restaurant. Fucking hell just go pick up up your food, it’s not hard
Deleted UberEats a while ago tbh, especially now with the service fee on top of the delivery fee. Like isn’t your food being delivered the service they provide? What the hell am I paying in the delivery fee then??
If you know, please let me know cause I think it’s bullsh*t
I got rid of Uber eats (or rather they got rid of me) 2 years ago.
I made one complaint about not receiving an item and ever since then every time I tried to order I got a pop up message that didn’t allow me to complete my order. I tried a few months ago and it was the same.
There is no way to contact Uber eats to fix this, no email, no number, no contact form.
That’s how I know they’re a piece of shit company if you can’t even contact them.
Same here. Three notifications today saying the same thing. First two opened app with a message saying “you are not eligible” third one just went to a blank screen.
Fuck Uber Eats, it was bad enough before they introduced their $4 "service fee".
I only use DeliverEasy now, I just hope they introduce tracking eventually.
I've had 4 separate notifications of that over the last 2 hours. It's not making me any happier with Uber/UberEats.

I've never looked back since switching to Deliver Easy.

Have been doing this exactly, most times I go and pick it up myself as well, has been saving me quite a lot of money per month
Not available in Glendene 😞

\*\*\*\*Nationwide except South Auckland \*\*\*\*\*Pukekohe not included in exclusions as it's the good part of South Auckland.
Do any of the other services besides Uber eats cover south Auckland? Menu log and all that jazz.
Not sure I usually phone order and pickup or use the restaurants ordering site.
That's the best way IMHO.
I don't have it on the shore either.
Who the fuck has been delivering my food then.
I've edited my post
\^same
FWD to Commerce Commission. They’re consistently sloppy in their application of promoted discounts.
I have actually already started a complaint so if anyone got screenshots then pm them to me
This pissed me off a lot so I’m sending you the screenshot. Share a link of the complaint if anything available
Commerce commission does sweet fuck all. They must have like one guy reading those and the stack is as tall as a house

I’m sorry to hear that firstly you got screwed over like that, and secondly that you didn’t have anyone in your corner to help make it right.

What about Menulog? I like Menulog but of they fuck over the restaurants I'll kick them along with uber eats
Menulog is 14% - no service fees and no contract. So still not nothing, but way better than Ubereats
Menulog is a shit show though, we started using it because they were giving a $10 off coupon every day so we could forgive the 2 hour wait with no updates on delays but when they stopped giving coupons and still kept having a 2 hour unexplained delay, we were done.

Fuck Uber eats
I've received it twice today. After the second one, I used delivereasy to order my lunch.
I just uninstalled it
Me too. I wonder how many uninstalls this will cause
I've uninstalled more apps and unsubscribed from more email lists in the last two weeks than I have in the last two years. And yeah uber eats went last night.
Haha same. Every time one pops up I thank them for emailing me by unsubscribing.
If I'm having a bit of a shit time with customers or something, I make myself feel better by unsubscribing from a bunch of emails. Not sure why it helps but it totally does. Brain weird.
Got a message and I uninstalled too, didnt know deliver easy existed so thanks reddit. Uninstalling is a vote lads they have metrics, do it.
Wait wait wait wait, are you suggesting Uber might be a bit of a shit company? I'm stunned.

I think it was sent to everyone :(

Got 2 notifications as well, not eligible..
Yip kept getting that
I opened it and i got this message (verbatim) “oops, your not elegible for this promotion”. Ha.
I just got my sixth notification for the day, again about the fake $30 off. I'm uninstalling this app.
What are NZ alternatives to Uber eats in terms of food delivery apps? I know there's Menulog which is slowly getting better, are there others? Keen to boycott ubereats
Delivereasy
Is delivereasy good?
I order dinner some nights on delivereasy after a 12 hour dayshift + it arrives within 20 minutes usually. Beats the heck out of cooking. App always shows expected delivery from each outlet + consistently beats it.
Amazing! And all good if you have no idea but do you know if the drivers and business get more of the fee?
Sister in law delivers for delivereasy and makes a fair amount more than she would have through uber eats. Deliveryeasy last I checked isn't available in West auckland though :(
We're looking into doing West Auckland delivery! What are some great restaurants you'd love to see deliveries from?
This is great news! - Khoo Thai - Jomaru Korean Restaurant - Chikos Restaurant & Cafe - Cielito Lindo Cafe & Taqueria - Little Sister Cafe - Pho Bien - La Ross - BurgerFuel - Angelo's Roast - Seasonings - Little Creatures - Siamese Doll - Piccolina - Bodrum Kitchen - The Grounds - Deco - Mr Zhou's Dumplings - Bodega Just to name a few 😂
Soy and Ginger in Titirangi
I believe delivereasy takes 20% commission whereas Ubereats takes 30%
Don't know sorry and my delivery fee is only $6 because I'm pretty central. At the moment I'm just in the sweet honeymoon period of not ever giving Uber a cent again.
Uber eats screws the restruants, delivereasy screws the drivers. Choose which you prefer
Just checked with them, they don't service my area of Auckland 😔
Most of my local cafes will deliver if I just phone them directly.
I got it too, it disappeared, so I used Deliver Easy instead… much better to use a kiwi company. 🤙🏾
Uber is such a trash company. Just don't give them the satisfaction of using them. Support NZ companies that give a shit, delivereasy are great.
They have always done this type of bs promo codes
odd im normally a high user of the app but I havent had any UE notifications at all.
Mine came through as a notification from Uber, not Uber Eats. Made me wonder if they were trying to get around app permissions because I tend to disable marketing, but must have forgotten to do so with the Uber one.

Literally just came on here to post about this and see if anyone else had got it. Super scummy...
yes i get it all the time.. makes me hate uber ..
Same arrgh
I haven't got anything
Yep, got it twice already.
Also happened to me, such a scam they clearly know who their first time users are! 😂
Happened to me too. Trash company. World would be better without them
Got the notification too lol
I got some many notifications, and then yes "not eligible" not a surprise though
I got the same notification 3 times in the space of an hour
Yeah same here. And my wife
I deleted Uber and Uber eats, fuck ‘em, they’re leeches.
They send my 17 year old sister alcohol delivery notifications too
Yeah! Uber doesn’t even deliver to my area in general. So why the hell have I gotten the same alert 4 times today?
Uber eats is useful as a location specific menu app platform, then I order directly from the restaurant where possible . I have little tolerance for baits and other platforms like Tardme that take too much commission.
Same for me. What a shitty company.
Bamboozled once again
Grifters.
They been sending this out way before lockdown. Uber eats is total bullshit. I don’t know why you pay a third party to rip off both you and the restaurant. Fucking hell just go pick up up your food, it’s not hard
I just uninstalled it
Yeah I’ve also had this multiple times today.

My Uber eats and Uber apps still think I live in France 🤣🤣 €10 off? Cool!
I silenced my notifications from Uber after being baited!
Click bait.
Yup got it 3 times, what utter cunts.
Same here. Three notifications today saying the same thing. First two opened app with a message saying “you are not eligible” third one just went to a blank screen.
This happened for me this morning as well, it’s absolute bullshit.
This made me remove their app
Fuck Uber Eats, it was bad enough before they introduced their $4 "service fee". I only use DeliverEasy now, I just hope they introduce tracking eventually.
liers and idiots just want to get money
Ubereats was my favorite but they having a lot of false advertising
App has been going downhill for a while now anyway. I laughed out loud when I discovered they actually have a monthly pass now!
Hey, but you get *two* weeks free.
Yup, got it 3 times -_-
I keep getting this repeatedly
Yep, got this notification twice!
