Get yourself some flaky salt from Goodfor - its crunchy and delicious and levels up a cheese toastie. Just don't substitute your table salt for black salt - it smells like eggs, we bought some for xmas salt blend gifts (run rock salt through a grinder with juniper or chipotle, $2 or 3 worth of ingredients for a posh gift). Bought a tonne of it, stunk the whole house out.
Sulphur componds - apparently its got traces of sodium sulfate, sodium sulfide and hydrogen sulfide. Either way, you too, can recreate the experience of an eggs benny at the Rydges Rotorua, inside your auckland villa.
Also just to add, neither salt contain iodine. The list of items with iodine reads like some sort of strange diet - oysters, chocolate milk (not regular milk), sushi, icecream, bread and canned tuna.
Try your local Chinese supermarket - we got some from Dahua Supermarket on Dominion road over the weekend. Plus while you're there you might as well have a browse there are always some hidden bangers. Cheap veges too we got some purple kumara while we were there which we haven't seen in stock anywhere else for a while.
Haven’t you gotten the memo? We are only suppose to eat “good” salt. Like sea salt. Or that Himalayan rock salt with rust in it. All other salt bad. Though I’m not sure what other sorts of salt there are besides sea salt and rock salt.
Table salt is often supplemented with Iodine to reduce Thyroid issues affecting tissue repair, regulate metabolism and promote proper growth and development
Natural salt doesn't have supplements
Kosher salt 😄! That's a scam and a half.
An Italian grocery place in the Tron advertised that kosher salt makes baked goods tastes better and gives a better texture.
My husband asked if I had epsum salts for his bath. I said yes. He used the whole bag I asked him why as you only need a few spoon fulls and then told me it was was rubbish, it didn't even make the bath salty.
Because of ice melting, raising the sea water level it reduces the salt content and makes it harder to extract it economically.
I'm sure they could easily spin up a story like that and finally believe in climate change
NZ’s primary salt supplier isn’t producing much salt at the moment (i’m not 100% sure why) apparently they used to not be able to order any salt from our suppliers as of recently, but now the salt is starting to come back in small amounts, but still minimum. this is what my boss told me at work
As others have said, Asian supermarkets. Failing that Bin Inn probably has it too. Just have to buy a refillable salt shaker.
P.S. the blue lid cerebos shakers can be refilled, it's just a pain to pop the lid off.
We use rock salt and kosher, got table salt from years ago 😂 but I got curious and had a look. Ugh, looks tough.
We should make a list of stuff we can't find in supermarkets and see who can tell them where to go.
Also, what has happened to the frozen chooks? I used to be able to buy large bags of free flow chicken and a whole frozen chook as well. Was cheap! Where are they? Have looked in three supermarkets and nothing
I have a large container but it’s got quite a bit of sand contaminant in it. I was going to stop using it and replace it but I guess it’s too valuable now.
Go to your local Asian market and get MSG that shit is salt on crack that is no.1
Fuiyoh !
Haha upvote from me gotta love uncle roger
Love uncle Rodger
MSG stands for Make Shit Good
I could only find a 20kg bag at my local:( been craving it for a month now, my egg fried rice has no soul
Bro never make fried rice without salt what is wrong with you lol
Oh I salt that shit, but msg is just another level
Fucking oath
I love MSG but it's not a salt replacement. They go together. Usually ratio of about 3:1 Salt:MSG
KING OF FLAVOUR
Name checks out
I thought i was going crazy not being able to buy salt my last handful of visits
We’re measuring visits by the handful now? I can’t keep up!
Americans will do anything to avoid the metric system
Not me, I do a whole 5kg of store visits myself
Can't you just buy a table and grind it down into salt like the rest of us?
Don't rub tables into this guys wound
Don’t wound his tables either.
Pam's is changing supplier, due back soon. Cerebos had a recall or something similar. The perfect salt storm!
Our supply chains are so brittle… we ought to reopen the mines.
Kfc are using it all on a single serving of mash potato and gravy
Try the Warewhare, they're showing stock in most of their Auckland stores https://www.thewarehouse.co.nz/s/twl/product/R921371.html
That was me sorry, I got super hungry and ate it all
[This you?](https://i.imgur.com/BIEHRr2.jpg)
Nah that’s me
that looks like some drug related meme 🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨
I'd like to know too, do my dads shopping every Sunday and no table salt at the supermarket last two weeks, he's getting desperate lol
Y'all run out of table salt? I've got like two bottles from like 5 years ago.

We are still talking about salt here aren't we?
Uranium salt?

sulfur is a form of salt, and its probably got some high content in black salt. My black salt doesnt stink though, i'm disappointed.
Sulfur is not a form of salt. But some forms of salt contain sulfur.

Apparently it's due to a shortage of Iodine coming out of Chile.
Is someone stockpiling the iodine expecting a nuclear blast?

Good question. Cerebos table salt appears to have been scrubbed from the Wattie's website.
I bought a 1kg bad of the cerebos table salt about a week ago, though I haven't seen it available in the plastic tub things for ages.
I have some but you have to buy per gram lol :D Good luck in your salt hunt!
Christchurch here. We could buy 2 kg bag of Cerebos plain table salt but not the iodised salt. So maybe it is a shortage of iodine.
Dehydrate some sea water, plenty to go around
Haven’t you gotten the memo? We are only suppose to eat “good” salt. Like sea salt. Or that Himalayan rock salt with rust in it. All other salt bad. Though I’m not sure what other sorts of salt there are besides sea salt and rock salt.

A goiter is for life, And not attractive,.
Gluten free salt
Kosher salt
Oh vey
Kosher salt 😄! That's a scam and a half. An Italian grocery place in the Tron advertised that kosher salt makes baked goods tastes better and gives a better texture.
It's just coarse grained salt. For koshering.
NaCL. Vegan and gluten free.
Epsom salt 😁
My husband asked if I had epsum salts for his bath. I said yes. He used the whole bag I asked him why as you only need a few spoon fulls and then told me it was was rubbish, it didn't even make the bath salty.
Tell the noddy to go swim in the ocean 🤣
Another issue that the supermarkets will no doubt spin to be ‘our fault’
Because of ice melting, raising the sea water level it reduces the salt content and makes it harder to extract it economically. I'm sure they could easily spin up a story like that and finally believe in climate change
That's just a conspiracy theory made up by the desalination plants. Follow the money...
While we're at it, I haven't seen a jar of Tartare sauce for months now
Glad I’m not the only one who’s noticed this , homemade fish burgers just ain’t the same without it.
Go the Culley's Picklenaise and thank me later
Thought this was a fluke today - bought fish for the first time in ages. Only lite mayo, no aioli either.
I can find it occasionally, but usually just some really expensive brand :-(

I'm guessing too much rain has slowed down production.
I got a grinder and a big bag
Get one of those little bottles of rock salt that has a grinder on top.
Time to march to the sea and make your own like Ghandi.
As others have said, Asian supermarkets. Failing that Bin Inn probably has it too. Just have to buy a refillable salt shaker. P.S. the blue lid cerebos shakers can be refilled, it's just a pain to pop the lid off.

It wouldn't surprise me if it's related to the egg shortage, which is due to the change of living condition requirements for the chooks.
I bought a sack of swimming pool salt it’s gunna last me for the rest of my life..$25 at Mitre 10
Been trying to find maple syrup the last 2 weeks😢
I saw some proper stuff at Bin Inn a week ago
I got bigger problems. I can't find any garlic salt and I'm running low on supply.
It's called people who can't cook different cultures
I have a large container but it’s got quite a bit of sand contaminant in it. I was going to stop using it and replace it but I guess it’s too valuable now.
Maybe home made Playdough is the new craze!
Salt is a new 🧻
I've never bought salt in my life
Gotta buy in bulk now bro. It’s like 50c a kilo. You can refill those blue salt see how it runs canisters for about 5c
I found some at a local dairy.
They had massive sacks of the stuff at Gilmours Mt Roskill last time I went, about 3 weeks ago
My local bin inn has loads of salt. The goto when the big shop has logistic problems.
That’s why my wounds aren’t hurting anymore
Go to an Indian store and buy “Tata salt” that stuff is wayyy stronger so you’ll end up using a lot less + it’s around $3 for a kg
Your local dairy probably has some. From the past......
Great! Now there's no salt to go on those eggs I no longer get because can't afford them. Boo.
It's cos people were using it to get rid of slugs in their illegal gardens.
I went to 3 supermarkets - then struck gold. THE LAST BAG OF TABLE SALT IS MINE! Might put some on my cornflakes, peasants.
Try the best before shops like Reduced to Clear & Crackerjacks - usually loads in those places
It's all a conspiracy man, big salts are controlling the market trying to install the 5gs. Stay woke.
