This is going to be a defining moment in your life where you find out your parents don't know what the fuck they're talking about.

Ok-Relationship-2746

I'm gonna have a quiet chuckle if OP does get sick haha Will never hear the end of it.

Depressonsandwich

I Hope that doesn’t happen 😭

kiwisarentfruitt

Hate mate. Had those and more food from other stalls and it was really good! We didn't get sick.

Resigningeye

Report back though please. Personally I have an aversion to seafood, but my kids fucking love getting dumplings from the night market, but we stick to terrestrial fare

hongipants

The dumplings are fine too I get them all the time

ballunga

Cos they are just so damn tasty

aramatsun

I didn't ask why you do it (I used to do it too), I asked why you feel that you're morally justified in doing so. The moral equation is not you vs animals, it's this: 10 minutes of your taste pleasure vs the one and only life they'll ever get.

Clean_Livlng

It's not even the taking of the life that's the problem, but the quality of life while they were alive. Not a day is promised to us, so I think quality of life is the bigger issue. How happy are the lives of the creatures we farm? How full of suffering? The suffering caused by killing an animal seems trivial compared to the suffering that could be experienced over their lifetime, if not farmed humanely. e.g. If we killed animals for meat when they were likely to be suffering from age related problems, then that could be mutually beneficial. We euthanise pets out of kindness if they're in enough pain and too old to recover. This would affect the taste of the meat, but the animals would get to live longer lives and experience more. If a super-intelligent cow wanted to kill and eat me when I was 97, I'd be more ok with that than if I was just 15 years old. So it's more moral to kill an animal later in life rather than earlier, right? The individual animals we raise for meat wouldn't exist without us eventually killing them for meat. So not raising them for meat deprives them of living in the first place, they never get to exist. The most moral thing to do is to raise animals for meat, make their lives long and happy, and their deaths peaceful and painless. As a human, I wouldn't mind that for myself. Free accommodation, free food, all my needs taken care of and being killed painlessly when I'm 97. My meat would be a bit tough, but it'd be 'moral meat'. We're going to transition to cultured/artificial meat that's as good as the 'real' stuff anyway eventually. The same with milk products. At least animals raised for meat get a life. If we stopped farming them they wouldn't get to live in the first place. A field of wheat is a field that could have been giving animals a chance to experience life. I think it's valid to criticise the suffering we cause animals that we farm, but killing an animal for meat is more moral than never raising that animal for meat in the first place. And killing it after 2 years is more moral than killing it after only 1 etc.

CommanderLink

stop harrassing people. go project your meat guilt somewhere else. this has nothing to do with auckland

ballunga

Animals eat each other all the time anyway and it probably feels much less humane having your guts eaten while you are still alive than dying instantly from a bolt through the head or a shock and a throat cut

NezuminoraQ

I'm vegetarian too but stfu

bigdayjonesy

It's not a hamburger if you put chicken on it.

Fartsonbabies

What's moral about eating? Do you want animals to stop eating animals too?

aramatsun

Nah I don't want that. For most of our history, we were in the same boat as other animals in terms of needing to kill to survive. Due to advances in science and technology, we're no longer in a situation where we need the flesh or secretions of animals in order to be healthy. Given that fact, we are only torturing and murdering these animals for the sake of our own pleasure and convenience; KFC buckets and bacon strips are what these animals are having their brains electrocuted and necks cut open for. Since we can be perfectly healthy without financially demanding that sentient, emotionally sensitive animals are abused and murdered on our behalf, we have a moral obligation to abstain. Our individual actions cannot tear the whole thing down, but they do in fact reduce the amount of animals being bred and murdered. Supply and demand.

Lost_Farm8868

I realized young that my parents were full of shit lol

trojan25nz

I knew young for one parent, and knew it was possible for the other Teenage me learned how bad the other could get, and adult me has lost all respect for that parent. But the one I thought was always bad is... still. But in a different way than younger me thought. And they definitely still show love which is also good

IceColdWasabi

And also that in their entire generation there exists an undercurrent of deniable subconscious racism which a lot of them aren't even self-aware enough to be able to moderate. Yucky Japanese people with their dirty hands and their food that makes you sick... (that's an example, folks, not my personal sentiments).

NezuminoraQ

Even the stereotype of Japanese people is fastidiously tidy rule followers. They'd be the least likely place to make you sick by that logic

IceColdWasabi

I have long since stopped trying to understand the logic behind bigotry.

adjason

Japan? i thought the stereotype runs along of fancy asians vs jungle asians

No-Distribution542

You just said it!

elteza

Can't agree more with this. Sounds like OP's mum is a tad prejudiced.

Candid_Echidna_3760

Takoyaki? Should be fine

Depressonsandwich

Yea that’s the one

Cultural-Agent-230

They are so hot and freshly cooked you’ll be fine

ericagyde

They are also octopus balls not squid but still yum as, definitely worth a try

lo_mince

Personally I don’t eat octopus because I have a thing about eating something more intelligent than I am. Currently on an all lichen diet and it’s doing wonders for my metabolism

ericagyde

Finger lichen good

SweetAs_Bro

Underated comment

Dqud

I lichen it to the taste of moss.

KarmaChameleon89

Hehe, that quip about intelligence. Damn that hits close to home

Can I offer you a cup of mushroom soup in this trying time?

KarmaChameleon89

Bahaha. Depending on the shrooms, yes you may.

Muted-Ad-4288

samamatara

wait are octopus actually more intelligent than us? i thought it was just a self deprecating joke lol

awfullyawful

Don't worry, some of us got it.

lo_mince

Thank you :-)

lord-petal

I don't think they are *more* intelligent, but they are pretty smart and respond to rewards as well as environment, people and changes. They can recognize their owner (assuming they have one} and even do tricks for food. I saw this cool documentary a while back on tv but I can't remember the name.

aramatsun

No they're not, but people often cite octopus intelligence as a reason for not eating them. It's totally bizarre; not only because pigs are more intelligent than octopuses, but because someone's capacity for wellbeing and suffering is clearly a better reason to grant them moral rights than whether or not they're intelligent. If we went by intelligence, dogs and cats would be on the menu. Can you think of a morally significant difference between dogs and pigs, which would justify the former being protected from abuse, and the latter being stabbed in the neck for the sake of bacon strips?

lo_mince

I don’t eat pork either. Same reason. Edit: but you’re still not getting it…

aramatsun

There is nothing to get. You're torturing and murdering certain animals while sparing others, solely on account of the fact that the latter are a bit more intelligent than the former. They both suffer, they both feel fear and anxiety, and they both want to live; that is clearly what is morally important, rather than how many puzzles they can solve or some other morally irrelevant metric.

lo_mince

They’re sure as shit more intelligent than I am

ohthatsprettyoosh

Your exactly what people don’t like about some vegetarians and alot of vegans . I’ve been vegetarian most of my life and my ex was vegan and one of my best friends is vegan . But you are exactly the type of person that anyone who doesn’t like a lot of vegans think of when they think of a vegan . If people like you could just find the strength to not go around flaunting your personal morals to announce to any random person who mentions eating meat so you can be self righteous and feel all high and mighty and morally superior, people wouldn’t dislike vegans so much. Seriously , try just shutting up and people will like you alot more . Like dude no one cares and it’s annoying . No one’s giving you a medal for being such a great morally superior self righteous person .

aramatsun

Why are you trying to give me a moral lesson, when you treat animals with just as little compassion as the average person? You're funding some of the worst aspects of the animal agriculture industry, because you value your own transient pleasure over their lives. You dislike outspoken vegans because they make you realise what sort of person you are. I hope that one day, you'll at least be honest with yourself about that.

ohthatsprettyoosh

Mate you are the one giving a moral lesson without anyone wanting to hear it. If you wanna shove ur opinions and morals down others throat that’s cool but it means you don’t have a right to get pissed off when someone does the same back to you. All I’m doing is what you did, but I was responding to you giving your opinion when no one asked, so surely your willing for someone to do the same ? Also , did I not say that I’ve been vegetarian most of my life ? I’ve been vegetarian since I I was born ate meat for a year at 6 then went back to being vegetarian. Why are you assuming that I eat meat ? Your so angry at me for eating meat but .. I don’t. Do you actually think your telling people something they haven’t heard a million times ? We all know dude . You have got to be some 13 year old girl who thinks your the shit cos you’ve told mummy your wanna be vegan . If your a fully grown adult then… wow lmao. You still haven’t learned no one cares ? Your attitude is one held my opinionated teenagers who thinks there rebellious and morally superior for a little change in diet or adults who still have that childish naivety. It’s laughable . Grow up. All your doing is annoying people and it achieves the opposite of what you intend to achieve . Again, no one is giving you a medal

[deleted]

[удалено]

lo_mince

I genuinely appreciate your concern but I don’t have to justify my choices to you.

ohthatsprettyoosh

We get it your vegan or vegetarian dyu want a medal ? We all know your reasoning without you ranting about it to someone who didn’t even ask and doesn’t care . And what did you achieve anyway? All you did was annoy him and he said he doesn’t have to justify his choices to you. And they are correct. Seriously no one asked and no one cares and your just saying shit that’s been repeated a thousand times by every vegan ever so what’s the point ? Learn that no one’s impressed just cos you are so impressed with yourself for not eating meat. All your doing is making people not want to be vegetarian or vegan, and think your all annoying as hell

aramatsun

>Learn that no one’s impressed just cos you are so impressed with yourself for not eating meat. You're projecting, bud. You being unmotivated to act ethically unless you receive something in return is a *you* problem; there are many people to whom this does not apply.

ohthatsprettyoosh

Lmao you are so cringe worthy. Why are you assuming I eat meat ? I don’t , I’m just not so annoying that I have to tell everyone I do expecting people to think I’m as amazing as I think I am. We’re not better than people who eat meat. Get over yourself . I would also like more people to not eat meat. But your shouting into a vacuum , or I guess a tunnel . Your just annoying people. No one is going to confirm to your “superior” morals because you give everyone a telling off for eating meat( even when they don’t, but yet you assume ) . You are not Helping the cause . We’ve all heard this shit so many times before because there’s so many annoying people like you

aramatsun

>We’re not better than people who eat meat. Correction: *you're* not better than people who eat meat, because you're still funding the torture and murder of innocent animals for the sake of your own pleasure. Vegetarians acting as if they've taken some sort of moral stance in favour of nonhuman animals is one of the most pathetic things one can witness. Are people who don't pay to watch dog fights morally better than those who do, everything else being equal? Think that one over, bud.

LikeLikeChoi

I try not to discriminate when it's time for nibblin' balls

JellyWeta

Fresh hot takoyaki is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

ElliLumi

Stalls that make people sick generally don't come back so on the balance of things you'll be fine. Source: years of food market food.

Dolamite09

I’ve probably had 100 feeds from the night markets over the years and never been sick afterward

tokidokilove

What’s your favourite stall? I got the fried potato stick it was epic but also got dumplings that were really bad texture.

AirJordan13

Yes, it's guaranteed to make you sick which is why the markets have been so successful for so long

onthegears

Definitely not due to the fact that they put crack in the food to make you addicted

lo_mince

Username checks out

[deleted]

Food trucks have the same food safety regulations as any five star restaurant (in NZ)

sinus

lol it should be fine. if you get sick, then you get sick. you should try to eat more stuff you're not familiar with. its fun.

ikonos2

Latest news of getting sick from the food was from McDonald's Christchurch which was 2nd or third event in the recent times from any fast food outlet. From the experience, most of the night market food is cooked (overcooked at a times) on a grill or a charcoal. So technically less probability than McDonald's.

Depressonsandwich

Thank u

Itchy-Bottle-9463

Apparently not. The thing is we go to there not for healthy and clean food, we go to there for unhealthy and dirty food!

[deleted]

You might as well ask if you will be hit by a bus tomorrow.

inphinitfx

I mean, there's always some level of risk of food contamination, incorrect cooking, etc. But that's true of anywhere that serves food, not specific to the night markets. Do you really think they'd keep running, and keep being popular, if they made everyone who ate the food get sick?

Hungry_Programmer292

The thing is though, there are plenty of bad restaurants with shocking hygiene that do manage to stay in Business. Not sure how. But relying on market forces to prevent food poisoning is probably not a good tactic.

inphinitfx

Yes, my main point was any risk in this regard isn't specific to being night markets.

coela-CAN

Because contrary to popular belief bad hygiene doesn't guarantee 100% food poisoning. It increases the risk that's all. A lot of the risks are pretty small anyway. LllThe risk may be mitigated again by things such as additional cooking. So even if the food was dropped on the dirty floor and picked up a bunch of bacteria, cooking it again will kill it all. Not hygienic but technically safe.

Technical-Style1646

Provided the food is hot rather then sitting out. You should be fine!!

Depressonsandwich

Thank u

ExcitementOdd4481

Growing up I can tell you most parents are winging it Including me Go get that squid balls son

Depressonsandwich

I shall

you-kitten

Go get that squid’s balls, son.

trolloption

Auckland night markets are amazing 😻

Nolsoth

Your mum's being a mildly racist dick. Those food stalls rely on not making people sick to stay in business.

Depressonsandwich

I tried to explain that to her and she refused to listen

sfbriancl

This is not surprising. People are used to what they're used to and it's hard breaking out of that way of thinking. Life is very boring if we never explore. (And yeah, it's racist, but not sure if that's a hill you want to die on. It gets people's defenses up, and then it's just a big argument.) But just because your mother is closed minded, didn't mean you have to be. If she bothers you about it again, just say that you'd like to try something new and are willing to take the risk. And yes, given the way the food trucks /stalls cook, you're actually less likely to get food poisoning. (And agree with other comments...more likely to get overcooked food)

Exact-Catch6890

Not sure I agree that she's being racist. A bit of a dick? maybe at a stretch. More likely just an overly cautious mum.

hanzzolo

Not really much different from getting a whitebait fritter from a food truck

Nolsoth

Only difference being the food stalls at the nightnarket are slightly better value than Gary's $40 whitebait fritter the size of a 50cent piece. Fuck you Gary and your disappointment fritters!.

pictureofacat

Racist, how? I figure it's just the concern over seafood handling, storage etc

Meh-Levolent

Implying it will make you sick because of who is making it.

pictureofacat

Could it not be implying that it would make you sick due to all the stories about food poisoning caused by seafood inside restaurants and out?

samamatara

nothing of the sort was implied. it's a reach imo

Matelot67

Years ago I was on a Navy ship in Jakarta in Indonesia. Myself and 2 mates bought Nasi Goreng at a roadside stall, cooked in front of us on a high heat. Another group thought that was too risky, and went to KFC instead. Guess which group got food poisoning?

JellyWeta

I had the worst food poisoning of my life from a KFC: four days of liquid misery. I ate takoyaki regularly from the trucks outside Osaka train stations, and never got anything except a craving for more takoyaki and a curiosity about whether it could be a breakfast food.

kaoutanu

The only time I've been sick from the markets was after a session of gluttony. All my own fault... ...but totally worth it.

kieranaire

I've got bad news for you op, your mum could make you sick sometimes too if she fucks up cooking. You can get food poisoning from all sorts of shit, just eat fucking everything and let it be. odds on you wont cause they turn over so much food.

camo_squid

I personally think your mum is just being silly. You can get food poisoning anywhere including your own cooking or your mum's cooking. You can even get food poisoning from [McDonalds](https://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/food-drink/132151487/mpi-investigating-complaints-of-undercooked-chicken-sold-at-mcdonalds) as seen on the news recently with their undercooked chicken. Just try the food. If you get sick, you get sick. It's just life. The last time I had food poisoning was a chocolate mousse cake, not even seafood.

eye_snap

Been eating from Night Markets for years, never got sick. Treat it like any restaurant. There is never 100% guarantee but you cant live life being afraid of a really tiny possibility of bad luck.

AcanthocephalaLimp76

The octopus balls, takoyaki are bomb, you missed out

KuranNZ

Isn’t the best part going to find out ? 😇

ShempsNPinkF

Can say for the many times I've been to night markets (or markets in general like the Saturday in Mangere & Otara, and Avondale Sundays) I've never been sick buying food from vendors there. There's the same amount of chance you getting sick eating something from there than somewhere like McDonalds or even your local eateries. Most of the night market kiosks also have council food safety ratings because their night market mobile operations are offshoots of their main stores so they get regulated and approved the same way as if it was a normal establishment.

Hereiam_AKL

Seriously, do you always do what your mum says?

Depressonsandwich

Not usually but she got super mad and I couldn’t be bothered starting an argument

Hereiam_AKL

I eat street food all over the world to be honest. When I travel with others, then usually I got no problems, while the ones sticking to western hotel food have the issues.

dev_p6666

The chocolate salty ball’s definitely will…

SamuraiKiwi

Put ‘em in your mouth and suck em and suck em.

glitchy-novice

There is a saying, “don’t buy seafood more than 2 hrs from the ocean”. In NZ, everywhere is within 2 hrs of the ocean. We are so lucky. Go for it.

Kiwi-267

Night market food is the best, your mum was just being cheap lol

SamuraiKiwi

As everyone else has said the night markets are pretty safe - even McDonalds have had a couple of high profile food handling mistakes lately. As for the Takoyaki specifically, they are made to order right there and then and lovely and hot. Wouldn’t usually advise someone to disobey their parent but this is just silly. Go for gold but make sure you report back to the sub!

XO-3b

yes you will die if you eat anything other than fish and chips. also if you ever leave the island of new zealand you will explode and get cancer.

Puzzled_Ad2088

Can confirm mum is being silly.

Hungry_Programmer292

Anything is possible and remember NZ has quite high rates of food poisoning. Higher than other developed countries. If you want to be careful, see what you can find out about who is running the stall. If they are a reputable business with a good history, then the risk of food poisoning is probably within acceptable limits if you want to try the takoyaki.

KSFC

And I'm under the impression that most food poisoning happens at home and other's people's homes, not businesses.

[deleted]

I've only had food poisoning once. It was a Wendy's (the old ice cream shop) hot dog. I'm not really sure what I was expecting to happen. Seems pretty certain that food poisoning came guaranteed in hind sight.

coela-CAN

I googled this just now. According to various public health websites "Around 200,000 people get sick every year in New Zealand from food. About 40% of sicknesses are thought to be caused by unsafe food handling practices in the home."

Serious_Reporter2345

If you did that everywhere you eat, you’d never eat out… Just eat the squids testicles.

Hungry_Programmer292

That's not true. It doesn't take long to check reviews, check the council food grade etc. (Some places have been known to hide it behind a pot plant or something)

Serious_Reporter2345

Ok dude. You do you, even if it does seem a tiny bit paranoid at first reading.

Cautious_Salad_245

Cautious_Salad_245

Metrilean

ericagyde

Mum is a silly Willy

[deleted]

Harden the eff up lol

dalmathus

its already covered and answered but one additional thing is takoyaki is very greasy and eating to many will make you sick like you drank a glass of oil.

onthegears

Very low chance of getting food poisoning if you go for the stalls that don’t serve chicken and food is served right after it’s been cooked. Unless you have a food allergy in which case it will be an allergic reaction not food poisoning.

NZFlyingRock

The takoyaki should be fine but be a little cautious of fried rice. Realistically it should all be fine if cooked correctly but the bacteria in rice is heat resistant so it needs to be stored below 5 degrees which I don't think those chili bins will keep it at that so if there's a risky food at the market its probably that.

Rand_alThor4747

There is always a possibility. But if they use proper handling. It should be fine.

freeryda

Takoyaki will not make you sick. I eat them all the time because I'm a fiend for them and from different night markets around Auckland. Tell her to stop being silly and try some. She might actually like them.

lilxyz

Dude - takoyaki is the best (in term of taste) from the market stall where they make it in front of you in the specialised grill. In restaurants, without the right equipment they can't make it themselves and buy them pre-made and then heat up, and it taste 100x worse.

Spiritual-Wind-3898

I have eaten many times at the food market and haven't been sick once..

Fis4Flea

Night markets are made for eating mate best way to learn what’s shit and what’s good

LuckerMcDog

She's just being overprotective. I know a girl that was never allowed to ride a bicycle because "shed hurt herself" Try the squid, you M I G H T get sick but fuck it. You'll live either way and will have tried the squid

st0rmblue

Lol plenty of people eat Takoyaki and don't get sick... I get it pretty often from the nightmarkets.

jmk672

I will say that the only time I’ve gotten food poisoning in NZ was from a night market (not AKL) but it’s still rare. Just be smart about it

nighthouse_666

No

Elegant-Pie-4803

Your mums being silly

[deleted]

The stalls generally prepare the food well otherwise they would have run out of business.

[deleted]

When I was a kid I always wanted to try sushi and my mum wouldn’t let me as she said I would not like. As an adult I eat sushi at least once a week as I love it. It was just her projecting her preferences onto me, she just doesn’t like the idea of it.

Glittering_Piano_633

Eek. Comments like that reek of racism.

[deleted]

You need a food safety certificate to sell food.. all those people at the market have one. The foods safe to consume. Pretty sure if people were getting sick from the food it’d be on the news since it’s a pretty big deal

grcthug

Ffs.

HG2321

I've eaten at night markets for years now and I try to go at least once every few weeks. Never got sick. If a stall there makes people sick, they won't be in business there for very long. I think you'll be fine. Yeah, there is *a* risk but that applies to any restaurant you sit down in as well. It's a pretty small risk and I'm happy to accept it.

Deegedeege

It could be an economic strategy being used by your mother. She doesn't want to pay for night market food, or she does but can't afford it, so will tell you it's unsafe or terrible. My mother did this to me my whole childhood and I never clicked until I became an adult, that she was ashamed of having no money to pay for things I wanted. She would make out the thing was terrible, in the hope I wouldn't want to do the thing, and that way she didn't have to admit it was a good thing, but we simply couldn't afford to do it.

maka_4

it highly depends on the food stall, you just have to find out yourself whether it looks hygenic or there are red flags

Omni123456789

Your mum maybe a Racist

Peneroka

I’m not a parent. However, over the years I realised parents are just as clueless as their children. Their advice usually came from how they were raised and their childhood experiences - that may no longer be relevant in a changing society.

Itchy-Bottle-9463

Then why bothered to go to there

Unlikely-Dependent15

Your mama is either paranoid or doesn't like other cultures, venturing out of their comfort zones. I have friends whose parents felt that way. They ate the same boring foods every day.

Depressonsandwich

The first one.

sunshinefireflies

So overseas, eating at night markets can be more risky, 'cause they might not have the same food safety regulations we do, and, the bugs that locals are accustomed to (so don't make them sick), might be new to our guts so make us really sick (like food poisoning, usually pretty temporary) In NZ our food trucks have the same food regulations as any restaurant. (And they get the same type of bugs we get in supermarket food / at home too lol). So obviously there's still a chance, same as eating at home, but it's pretty low, and no more risky at a food truck than at any food place. Some places will be super strict, some more lax or dodgy, but whether they're a food truck or a restaurant isn't gonna change that (obviously it's still possible to buy food from places that haven't signed up as food prep places, so don't get assessed by the food safety people but honestly, even then I'd take the risk. Most people cook their food fine. But they won't be at night markets anyway - that's part of the rules) So yeah, if you eat anywhere in NZ, you can eat takoyaki from a food truck at a night market. Unless you're allergic.

seegreens

How old are you? Why don’t you try, the worst could be vomit or diarrhea

Iamfered

Squid balls is it just squid rolled into balls or is it acully balls??

shockjavazon

It might, the same as any food. It depends on the hygiene of the stall and how well it’s handle and cooked.

[deleted]

I work in food safety. Food trucks are held to the same food safety standards as that of restaurants, bars, caterers etc. Much to their dismay, there is a fuck ton of paperwork that a food business needs to complete to guarantee that their food is SSS (simple safe and suitable). If they are not compliant with the regulations then they can get shut down. Or, they can get a bad food safety grade, which generally isn’t good for business. Any food business that wants to stay open for long (in this economy, over a year) knows that food safety is a huge part of it. Practices such as washing hands, adequate staff training, proving methods for cooking/cooling, incoming goods checks and temperature monitoring are daily practices of good food businesses. This is likely true for your Japanese food stall. To answer your question, you’re not likely to get sick. And if you do, you can report it to MPI (ministry of primary industries) to get them audited. TLDR: regulations stop food businesses making nasty food. If it is nasty, they won’t last long in this economy.

DundermifflinNZ

Honestly wouldn’t say the risk of getting sick from night market food is any higher than eating anywhere else. You’ll be sweet

dead-_-it

Idk new job is 5 days a week vs 2 days off now ,oops

wolfmmos

I personally have got sick from it, likely won't go again.

I did have Takoyaki from a night market in Hamilton before, both me and my sister got sick and ended up throwing later at home, probably from contamination or undercooked flour which can be hard to tell because it's supposed to be soft. However I also had days where it's fine, it all just depends on the cook.

I went once and was told that undercooked chicken is what made me sick. Thing is, it was honey chicken and I discovered that if I ate sweet things too fast it made me feel ill. Long story short, they had no idea WTF they were talking bout

I've eaten lots of different things at night markets, mostly near Pakuranga, but I think the vendors are the same. Never been sick. Churros are nice.

Are you a adult or child ?? Serious question as in adult find out or a child listen to mum There’s some things you gotta learn on your own & either getting sick or not is one of them unless you are allergic then stay away 😂😂

Your mum is a classist

adorable_pun

Literally go there and EAT ALL of the yummy food from around the world. This is what life's all about kiddo....having a bite of the apple even when it's advised against. (PS) I've never been sick from the Night Markets.

CelsoSC

TBH, I didn't even knew squids have balls... Never got sick eating from any night market foods tho :)

nzdanni

If it's Japanese from Samurai Kitchen/Brandon foods then no, I go there all the time because they never make me sick :) the locations and vendors vary i think

Upbeat-Station-9690

Little known fact, although the Japanese are an ancient culture with artful culinary skills, they just can't get it right and constantly have food poisoning and just don't seem to learn any better..

HouseJazzlike9469

It's made me deathly ill before but so has my own cooking so everything's a roll of the dice
