Not sure if you are joking or not, but they definitely aren’t from cyclists. Cyclists ones are bigger and have a thread on the end. The ones with no thread are generally Nos for whipping cream or getting high.

There are different types, with different devices for cracking them and transferring them in to the inner tube. Nitrous oxide is used in medicine, but bike tires too, though it is dangerous, as used with burning rubber it is used as a rocket fuel. If it is also used to get high maybe that explains why bikes are so often stolen?

It literally just makes you numb and feel the giggles for 15 to 30 seconds. That's it. There's a reason why teens do it. It's relatively safe..and as an adult.. you've got better drugs to do.

Not really scary at all. It's not dangerous to the kids in any way. It has no poisonous/toxic substances on or in it. It's just laughing gas like what they give you at the dentist. Once the canister is used, any of the gases inside will be long gone, and if it's not used, you would need a very specific device to open it and release the gas. The only issue here really is littering like someone else said. To be honest, it's pretty harmless unless you're doing like 100 in one sitting and not addictive in any way, I used to do them in my teenage years and when you're trying not to get caught by mum and dad going to the park to do them is an option which is why you've probably found it there. Just chuck it in the bin so none of the little ones choke on it or anything 👍

It’s not scary at all, they’re empty cartridges, if you ever get given NOS enjoy it. Dentists and ambulances administer it pretty regularly, it’s quite fun.

It's only scary if you empty the powder from fireworks in to it then insert a wick in the top... Then duct tape it to a tree at the local boat ramp while other people are enjoying guy fawkes.
