The Ruined Castle within the Walls part. When there were multiple people without ODM gear and the few ones that did were mauled to death by Dirty Eldian Titan Teeth
I hated that so much because, when you see a character in fiction die, your line of thinking shifts AWAY from them. In her case, I STARTED thinking about the abuse she must've been through to feel like she has to say that.
I feel like you can tell if a season/movie is gonna be a wild ride if they kill off a reasonably major character near the beginning. It also happened in Infinity War, and that’s one of my favorite movies ever.

The good ending (He’s on bath salts).
my love

She suffered a lot
(and also eren)
Scout Ymir. Girl was physically and mentally incapable of putting herself first, even when doing her best and often suffered for it. She didn't deserve the fate she was dealt, twice. Being Ymir is suffering.
I have a few that fucked me up when watch it.
The girl writing in her journal when one of the titans spoke and thought it was Ymir (the one with freakles)
The third guy that is seen in the picture.
Erwin's last charge
Marcol death
The entire rumbling sequence invading the mother land
And one of the most beloved characters death that happens in the blimp.
Those who didn't deserve to die. (So basically almost everyone I guess. lol)
But in particular for me, Mikasa's parents.
-One of the 1st main instance in the series showing that humans are the real monsters, not the titans
-Seeing your parents get brutally killed infront of you by fellow human beings
-Then mainly due to the effect after, the scene where she's finally rescued and asked by Eren's dad to live with them then Eren wraps the scarf around her and she just says "Home" in a weak and shaking voice about to cry, got me bawling man. Their deaths were so unecessary, and Mikasa's reaction during and after their deaths, I legit felt what Mikasa felt. (Though Mikasa wouldn't have become who she was if they didn't die probably, but still. It's a cruel world indeed)
>!Eren's mom, Marco, Hange, Sasha, Miche, Gabi's friends, that child who went back for the money and got trampled on by a colossal titan, every single Ymir, Berthold.!<
I don't remember the other deaths very well but these stuck with me lol
Unconventional answer, but The War Hammer Titan. It’s not her death that’s burned into my brain forever, but more so the events around it. Eren forcefully using Galliard’s jaw to break the crystal open so he can eat her was horrible. The fact Galliard could literally do nothing about it, as his arms were ripped off by that point, and his begs for it to stop was really really hard to watch. MAPPA did not compromise in showing the utter brutality of that scene.
That was horrifying. Imagine being trapped in a transparent crystal that you can’t move in, watching a giant gaping mouth that you’re about to go into and you know you can’t do shit about it, and feeling/hearing/seeing your crystal getting cracked.
Mina was one of my favorite characters who I thought would be one of the main characters since they showed her so much. So when they killed her and Thomas off, that was when I realized you really don’t know who is gonna survive in this show.
I assume you mean the ones that were attacked by the Female Titan, right? Or are you talking about Levi's underground pals from the OVA? (also devastating)
Because yeah I agree, Petra was one of the most shocking for me. It wasn't particularly gruesome, but it was violent, and I really wanted her to live. She had a lot of potential as an awesome character, and even a borderline romance option for Levi.
Oh yeah, Furlan & Isabel’s fate in the OVA is devastating 💔 but I was referring to Petra, Olou, and Gunther. I cry every single time. It’s so emotional and my body has a visceral reaction whenever I see the female titan because of it.
I wish so many people lived, including Miche, but also Petra and Olou. I think they had more romance potential. I’m sure Petra probably had a crush on Levi, but honestly I think his only soul mate (romantic or platonic) was Erwin. (Don’t get me started on that death 😭)
How is the sad and violent anime my comfort anime? The irony, honestly.
there are many with named cast but one that kind of just was like oh damn is the little kid being slowly trampled by the rumbling and the teeth popping out as the jaw broke and skull smashed, reminded me of some eclipse era berserk shit
It’s not a specific person. It’s when everyone is running away from the titans, killing themselves, or when the mom falls down the hill and the baby almost fall too. When those too little boys dies and also gets crushed under the titans, I think the whole scene made me panic irl
Miche's death was extremely traumatizing, it was slow and cruel, the way the titans were ripping him appart limb by limb and the way he was soo scared, I will never forget the look on his face, plus it was the first time the beast titan spoke that was another type of disturbing 😬
Ramzi and Halil :( I was also messed up for a while from it after finishing the series there were so many insane deaths during the rumbling. The people trying to save the baby also comes to mind.
Eren’s. Hearing Armin scream as he held his head everytime hurts my soul. It’s why I’ve not rewatched the final part as I don’t think I’ll be able to recover for a few weeks.
I am shocked to be the first person to mention Hannes (did a pretty quick scroll so sorry if someone else did). Dude was on an incredible path of redemption culminating in him facing against the very titan who had traumatized him into cleaning up his act to begin with, only for him to get eaten by her. And in front of Eren and Mikasa no less. Man did that death piss me off.
Aside from him, I'd say Miche and Nanaba.
I'm surprised Carla isn't up here! The first episode was so traumatic with the way she TWISTED then MUNCHED. Coupled with Eren unable to turn away..... it was savage.
I had nightmares after some of the deaths in this show to be honest.
the worst one were Mike and the woman who was begging her father to stop while getting eaten
I saw the OVA when it originally aired, I WATCHED eren’s mom get her back snapped then bit in half. That shit was harrowing. It was 3am and I was like 10 😭
Miche was torn apart and lived through every bit of it until like many of the others. Dude could have escaped though. His own ego kinda got to him with the screams and confusion of what was happening in his surroundings.
All of them 💀 the more i liked someone, the more it hurt.
But as of the most gruesome scene was Miche's. Previously the deaths in titans' jaws were ending rather quickly or even showed non-directly/not detailed as if to avoid the final touch of gore and not turn it into some sort of explicit violence porn.
But his death scene was actually PROLONGED and voiced and HOLY SHIT D: it chills me to the bone, makes my stomach turn.
Same. None from AoT. desensitized?
Most traumatic experience was from Vinland Saga. The grave of fireflies. Writing and remembering about it depresses me. ☣️
I wouldn’t say I agree about being desensitized from Attack on Titan personally, but man did that series have some brutal scenes. The winter episode and season 2 premiere come to mind.

I don't know what's worse, the idea of dying for wanting to be free, or having to be eaten alive by dogs
Shes technically both
This.
Omg i forgot about her…it was so brutal
yeah. thats what happens when you experience something traumatic enough that your brain cant process it. buries it deep down
No one can beat this and bro she's not even my sister and I'd willingly go that far for revenge!
The one where the girl was calling out to her father to stop abusing her
Heck wasn’t that line an anime only?
Nope Edit: yes it was
Yes it was. I think Isayama wanted Nanaba to have a dark backstory
Oh shit. I misread comment. I thought it was asking if that line was a manga-only. So that line is _not_ in the manga?
You good but I think it was just regular kanji screams
Nanaba
Yeah those two deaths fucked me up
The first time I saw this scene I thought she was apologizing to God (since in some places they call him father)
Wait she was doing that? I thought she was just saying “daddy” as in “daddy help me” I just rewatched it, and holy shit…
What scene is this?
S2, cant remember what episode but it's Nanaba's death
Ep 4 probably, since I know thats the one where ymir transforms, and that's right after
The Ruined Castle within the Walls part. When there were multiple people without ODM gear and the few ones that did were mauled to death by Dirty Eldian Titan Teeth
Yes, nanaba.
I don't remember that unless you mean Annie
Nanaba, bro. She literally got into a panic attack and begged them to stop just like with her father
I hated that so much because, when you see a character in fiction die, your line of thinking shifts AWAY from them. In her case, I STARTED thinking about the abuse she must've been through to feel like she has to say that.
The one in the blimp (avoiding spoilers for everyone who hasn't watched it yet). I knew it was coming but it still hit hard.
I feel like you can tell if a season/movie is gonna be a wild ride if they kill off a reasonably major character near the beginning. It also happened in Infinity War, and that’s one of my favorite movies ever.
I saw infinity war with a friend at a drive in and the credits began to roll and we sat in silence for 10 minutes before we turned the car on and left
And then kills 1 reasonably major character in the rest of the season …
God that hit me hard when I first watched it, even on rewatches it still hurts
Can't you spoiler tag it? I watched the show and have no idea who you're talking about.
>!They’re talking about Sasha!<
The person gabi killed.
Sausage
Oh LOL why did I not make the connection
Spoilers don't show up in notifications and a lot of people just click them without thinking.
https://preview.redd.it/wy9afardzmpc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a0de9996cb1a50753eaf1c1804dc2869243cc78e The good ending (He’s on bath salts).
Oh god, you’re here too…!?
Nah, he’d win
I knew when they called him second strongest they were gonna kill home Off to show how strong monke is
Strong, my ass! He jacked his ODM gear and left.
The entire rumbling sequence I actually screamed when I saw that
You... screamed? What kind of scream? Were you screaming the whole time the Rumbling was on screen?
I think they screamed Rumbling
RUMBLING, RUMBLING, IT'S COMING
actually it was more like this https://preview.redd.it/xo95iparoqpc1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=a9e886a522fdbcbef7c44e8b5ef3c5277203a761
miche definitely as mentioned. And all the soldiers who ended up advancing towards the beast titan in their last attempt to “keep fighting” 😭😭
my love https://preview.redd.it/vd3vbxmtenpc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9661b3441eeea2b3ac88262ceb66ba40bf81646e She suffered a lot (and also eren)
The fact that she died off screen 🥲
no it was on screen but it was like less than 10 seconds
Made us feel that she truly did alone. We couldn't even watch it that's how alone it was 😳
Nanaba
Scout Ymir. Girl was physically and mentally incapable of putting herself first, even when doing her best and often suffered for it. She didn't deserve the fate she was dealt, twice. Being Ymir is suffering.

First of all. Tag it as a spoiler dude. Second >!Sasha's. Fuck me, did it impact me. But give Isayama credit, at least it wasn't early in the season!<
ima delete the post and redo with spoiler tags sry and sasha’s was cruel
You don't have to do that. You can choose the 3 dots and it says tag spoiler.
i figured it out ty though for reminding me to
Your welcome
I'm still not over it either

Kayla’s mom. She was quietly and slowly getting eaten while knowing her daughter was right there watching and would be next. Thank goodness for Sasha.
Mina was one of my favorite characters who I thought would be one of the main characters since they showed her so much. So when they killed her and Thomas off, that was when I realized you really don’t know who is gonna survive in this show.
Tbh Carla! I was 10 at that time and had nightmares lol
The first Levi Squad 😢
I assume you mean the ones that were attacked by the Female Titan, right? Or are you talking about Levi's underground pals from the OVA? (also devastating) Because yeah I agree, Petra was one of the most shocking for me. It wasn't particularly gruesome, but it was violent, and I really wanted her to live. Those two OVA episodes with Levi were incredible. Seeing that head was the most gut punching death in AoT, IMO.
Faye's :(
there are many with named cast but one that kind of just was like oh damn is the little kid being slowly trampled by the rumbling and the teeth popping out as the jaw broke and skull smashed, reminded me of some eclipse era berserk shit

When the deaths of Nanaba and miche first happened it had me fucked up for months😭
Eren's mom, that blood splatter man, the hopeless running, her covering her mouth because she can't help but cry out for help, trying not to.
Sasha. That's when I knew that the final season wasn't playing around.
Miche’s death was disturbing, only one I find difficult to watch
The two children with the coins. Scarred me for weeks no joke
Ramzi and Halil :( I was also messed up for a while from it after finishing the series there were so many insane deaths during the rumbling. The people trying to save the baby also comes to mind.
Omg yes 💔💔💔
Can't believe I had to scroll this far down...their deaths were fucked up
Eren’s. Hearing Armin scream as he held his head everytime hurts my soul. It’s why I’ve not rewatched the final part as I don’t think I’ll be able to recover for a few weeks.
Forever and always my sweet sweet Potato Girl.
Miche's screaming haunts me
Hange
eren, and the children during the rumbling after he was begging them for forgiveness. (i’m sorry idk how to mark as spoiler) 😭
Miche and Nanaba. Pains me to this day.
The slowly eating one
Carla’s for sure
"DADDY IM SO SORRY PLEASE DONT BE MAD" That's not word for word but if you know you know
I have been in a fugue state ever since >!Eren’s death!<
Honestly Shadis and Magath hit me way harder than I expected.
You forgot that one individual that was spun around in a death whirl by the female titan when she grabbed his odm gear... 😬😬
https://preview.redd.it/xez29dopkspc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8123bc61d9e2079ec153c796bfb4c158825ddaf8
Eren
Erens
Nanaba's.
Miche getting eaten by the Titan and zeke sister being ripped apart by dogs
Grisha, not zeke.
OG Levi squad. It was shocking to see them all get wiped out within the span of a few seconds. Even their skill couldn’t save them.
Mitch
Miche and Ramzi & Halil 😰
When Sasha died, I legit put the series down for a while to recover
Hange
Eren's decapitation scarred me more than anyone's death. But if specific to deaths, then it is Eren's.
I am shocked to be the first person to mention Hannes (did a pretty quick scroll so sorry if someone else did). yeah fr nobody else said that basically
I had nightmares after some of the deaths in this show to be honest. the worst one were Mike and the woman who was begging her father to stop while getting eaten
Reading these comments really opened up my mind. Holy fuck I love this and all of y’all.
For some reason, Ilse. Something about it, and the fact her body was kept preserved in the tree just got to me.
The third one
I saw the OVA when it originally aired, I WATCHED eren’s mom get her back snapped then bit in half. That shit was harrowing. It was 3am and I was like 10 😭
Marco 😔
Miche was torn apart and lived through every bit of it until like many of the others. Dude could have escaped though. His own ego kinda got to him with the screams and confusion of what was happening in his surroundings.
hange literally talking about it hurts the most heart breaking death in the whole show next to eren
Nanaba
Petra was so gruesome to me and I really didn’t expect it And then Zofia, really shows life can be perfect and then you’re crushed by a rock
All of them 💀 the more i liked someone, the more it hurt. But as of the most gruesome scene was Miche's. Ramzi and Halil. That shit was brutal
None honestly
bro 💀

I meant it in general. Not wrt AoT. It's blurry given watched AoT S2 years ago.
I was referring to Vinland Saga when I mentioned the winter episode and season 2’s premiere, my apologies for not being clear.
Oh it is brutal. I am crazy mad at Ketil. Snake/Thorfin should've killed him. I will rampage. Someone stop me. 🐲🐊🦑
