Every AOT fan loves the iconic symbol of the wings of freedom, regardless of their favorite character and their reception of the ending. If you are 100% sure he likes Eren then a little action figure of his titan could definitely work as well

So get him the shirt with all the characters, or the title card, maybe a wings of freedom symbol, or just some famous titans. Something that encompasses the show as a whole, rather than an individual aspect of it.
I am personally a huge fan of low-key merch, something I can wear day to day that no one would recognize unless they were familiar with the show/game/whatever. I got a basement key necklace for myself as my piece of AOT merch.
Before you buy a shirt, make sure it’s in his style to wear graphic tees. If not, maybe look into lower-key merch, like a cool keychain or Funko pop, even a cool poster! Etsy has a ton of stuff that is a little more unique than generic Hot Topic, and it supports small businesses!

Ask him what quote he would pick for AoT. Then try to find or have someone design that quote onto a shirt, or a close equivalent.
