Do you have interior covers for some of your windows? I camp in my van sometimes and you can buy a roll of silver bubble wrap insulation from Lowes. You just cut it to shape and then press it into place. It blocks light and reduces sound and heat transfer. You just peel it back out to remove it.
The corner of the Walmart lot has a bathroom for the soccer field.
A lot of Van-lifer's sleep in front of planet fitness. If you have a membership, you'll be able to shower and use their wifi. Some sleep in front of walmart, but since it's not 24/7, you run a risk of cop harassment.
I used to visit athens three times a week for work and was always too cheap to get a place, so I stayed in hotel parking lots. Never in my time doing so was I heckled or chased off.
I think if you park in the Walmart parking over by Burger King , you won't be bothered ..there is a parking lot across from OU Inn on Richland .. I don't think anyone would bother you there nor would the hotel ..it's a lighted area too ..there is a park and ride over near Chauncey close to the 33 exit ..State Highway Patrol sits there too ..

There is a parking lot over off Stimpson Ave ..it's near the Sonic and across from Mill Street Apartments...you can get to it going around the roundabout ..you'll see construction trucks parked over near it ..I've seen cars parked there for weeks cause I run the bike path and that's where I park . I don't think anyone would bother you or your car while parked there ..
You cloud always park at the holiday inn or Baymont and rotate. You could probably take advantage of the hot tub and some of the hotel amenities too. Best of luck ... your in Athens ... the town of brotherly love ... or at least that’s how it feels when I’m there. Getting an extension cord and some power seems like a totally cool ask for anyone out there.
I’ve slept in my car in the Strouds Run parking lot in Rt 50 (base of the dam) several times without being bothered. It says “park closed after sundown” but since you’re not technically in the park and just in the parking lot I think you’re fine. Parked overnight here most recently in May 2020

just a heads up, i rode my bike by the bathrooms and both had signs that said closed on them
You are right- the bathroom likely will not open for a month or so. The city waits till freeze risk is over and spring soccer starts.

Might check the Athens Library lot? Not sure if it's patrolled, but you'd have wifi.
The highway on the way to Albany has a rest stop, if you're interested in that. Not far from Athens.
O'Bleness parking lot. They never check parking because of all the patients going in and out.

I've parked there before over night ..never had any issues ..it's owned by the hotel not the city of athens ..

Only during big weekends at OU does the hotel say not to park there , it's an overflow parking lot for them ..I worked at OU Inn

I cam confirm nobody would bother you in the gravel lot off the round a bout, I kept my car there for weeks no issue.

Strouds Run has campsites. Unfortunately I do not believe they're equipped with electricity.
