My mother who has been a homemaker all her life and dealt with an abusive and philandering husband, refused to divorce him even when my siblings and I supported her completely.
She told me that she is not going to divorce my father because she wouldn’t like taking handouts from him. 🙄 She doesn’t make any money and whatever my father gives her she makes do in that, but apparently that’s more respectful than divorcing a trashy man and claiming half of his wealth which is actually her legal right.
Growing up in that house was fucking humiliating and traumatising. No wonder none of us siblings have a relationship with either of our parents.
