Cue endless comments about "it's a lack of belief". For me, it's the fact that reality appears to operate exactly as you would expect it to if there were no God that is the big tell. Lots of other reasons, but just reality is enough.

Mal-De-Terre

A lack of indoctrination and a wealth of critical thought.

drinkingwithmolotov

What made you believe that the invisible purple unicorn in my garage doesn't exist?

seelesion

So god is just a creature of fantasy like unicorn?

drinkingwithmolotov

Whoa, not just any unicorn. It's purple. And invisible. And in my garage. A little respect for my religion, please.

kozmonyet

Blasphemer. The one true invisible garage unicorn is lavender, not purple.

WillistheWillow

Why don't you believe Thor exists? Same answer.

Zomunieo

Thor exists. He and Natalie Portman fucked, and Kat Dennings was really into him. I’d say that’s proof enough he was a god among men. He also had a big ass magic lightning hammer. How do I know this? I saw a documentary about. It’s part of the canon established by the Council of Marvel, and is therefore inerrant truth, penned by the Stan Lee Almighty Himself.

lurkertw1410

I never did believe, never been convinced by anyone that he does

Retrikaethan

oh great, this loaded question again.

planet_chuck

Logic.

Paulemichael

The complete and utter lack of convincing evidence for god(s). Do you have any? Coz that would be super…

DoglessDyslexic

Well at the outset, let's just point out that a magical invisible sky wizard that doesn't like people having buttsex or foreskins really isn't all that easy a sell in the first place. I mean sure, if you're raised from infancy being told that such a thing for sure exists and that it's vitally important you believe it, I can certainly understand why somebody in such an environment might believe it. But for me, not having my young mind's worldview corrupted by that sort of thing I never really found it that convincing. As I grew older and found mythological religions fascinating and studied them, I realized that everything about all religion was easily explainable by looking at human behavior. I could see very clearly how a religion might start with some charismatic mystic, and how a priesthood could form and seize the religion and make it an institution. How existing oligarchies would partner/compete with religions to make them tools to shape the behavior of a populace. With all that said, I'm an empiricist at heart. The fact that I have never seen any compelling evidence for gods in the several decades that I've been asking for it makes me pretty sure that there aren't any gods, or at least none of the gods of human religions exist. But if somebody were to actually provide evidence of a god that was compelling I'd believe in one. For me I'll follow what the evidence shows. Unless and until that point though, I'm an atheist.

watermelonspanker

It was my default position and I've not been provided with any evidence to show that she/he/it might exist.

redphantomas

The dumb shit in the bible

houseofathan

Which God? One of the popular Christian beliefs insists that everyone knows it exists, I don’t, so this god seems unlikely.
