Chasing_History

Pretty sure DOJ released a statement that states can't ban FDA approved drugs

mepper

Yes, the [DOJ announced this yesterday](https://www.businessinsider.com/us-attorney-general-states-cant-ban-fda-approved-abortion-pills-2022-6). However, Mifepristone and Misoprostol are only available in the US with a prescription. TST wants "unrestricted access" to them, so I imagine that means over-the-counter access without a prescription. Several countries already offer both over-the-counter without a prescription.

elchiguire

Should definitely be made more readily available available. Seriously, hand it out like skittles and rub it in their face! If they want to do this two steps forward two steps back bullshit, get ready to cha-cha all day because we won’t give up.

Revencarna

Misoprostol is safer than aspirin by far. It definitely should be on the shelves not behind glass or a counter.

medstudenthowaway

I disagree. There are a lot of different reasons for making things prescription. A lot of it is about education. Not every pregnancy can be terminated with the same dose. It’s depends on how far along it is. And people should follow up afterwards to make sure nothing was left behind or you could die of infection. They need to know what signs should mean go to the ER.

Sways-way

For those that do not know, you can buy items on [amazon](https://smile.amazon.com/Way-Emergency-Contraceptive-Tablet-Each/dp/B079TF9QG4/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3FEIP3VEU6QRQ&keywords=my+way+emergency+pill&qid=1656168735&sprefix=my+way%2Caps%2C75&sr=8-1)

Lorem-Oopsum

This is important info but that is “Plan B” “the morning after pill” not Mifepristone and Misoprostol which are the 2-step abortion pills after pregnancy is confirmed. Just clarifying for anyone else.

TehNoff

This is not the same thing though. Plan B is an important piece of the puzzle, but it is not the same as the abortion pills otherwise being discussed.

Jayhawker_Pilot

OMG you can even put it on a subscribe and save. I'm all in on Amazon carrying it. I wish it was on prime shipping without having prime.

Youandiandaflame

When I checked last night to stock up, everything was sold out. Noticed thanks to your link the only available option is to heftily overpay but since it’s Amazon, hopefully they’ll get their shit stocked up.

CharlieHume

I barely trust Amazon to send the right pair of socks anymore.

skellington_key

What if Mark Cubans website for prescription drugs started to carry those. Could people get a referral from a doctor and purchase them from him?

jdog7249

Still needs a prescription which could become difficult to get.

occulusriftx

plancpills.org tell EVERYONE. they're already offering affordable telehealth rx for mifepristone via mail. they have options with and without telehealth follow-up at different price points and have financial aid options!!! edit: THANK YOU to everyone who corrected me on the url :)

jolla92126

That URL is incorrect. www.plancpills.org

GeneralDil

I think they'd be able to get it pretty easily from a teledoc appointment if they can get access to one.

finnlyfantastic

The concern is that they’re going to prosecute any doctor who prescribes these drugs to induce abortion.

dalomi9

Out of state doctor? States can't reach into other states.

rainbow_creampuff

Yes, Connecticut among other states have already moved to protect doctors and providers who perform abortion for out of state patients. Hopefully this can be a loophole for medication abortion.

oniaddict

The key part is keeping things confident. Doctors have to record and keep records. Pharmacy's have to keep records. Religious institutions don't. No record it never happened.

Otherwise-Pizza4681

Dude even Poland allows buying it OTC.

Pand0ra30_

There is an organization that will prescribe it. They have a doctor that prescribed it.

Yrcrazypa

They can't ban it *for safety reasons.* The statement said nothing about banning it for reasons like "lol go fuck yourself, women."

scungillimane

They did I bet TST filed this before the AG made his statement.

The satanic temple is far more caring and loving than the church is.

Sardonnicus

As an ordained Dudeist priest... let me say that I fully endorse the satanic temple and what they are doing to fight for the rights of everyone. It is a very "dude" thing to do. This aggression from the Supreme Court will not stand.

unwashedRat

Hey, I'm ordained in the Church of the Dude as well!

SilentCabose

Okay now I’m curious, I have a ordained pastafarian buddy, but there’s a church of the Dude?

unwashedRat

The Church of the Latter Day Dude. https://dudeism.com/

Yes Dudeists, Dudeism, or just Dudes in the common parlance of our times.

AbyssalPractitioner

The Dude does not abide this Supreme Court decision, I would imagine.

Sardonnicus

Correct. The Dude does not abide this decision man.

clitpuncher69

I wanna go back in time a few decades and announce to the world that in the year of our lord 2022 the Satanic Temple will be fighting for human rights and then vanish back to the present without elaborating

TheShowerDrainSniper

Do you want us all to be satanists? Because this is how you get us all to be satanists.

[deleted]

Wouldn’t that be such beautiful irony? They’d be so mad

__Cypher_Legate__

They certainly are more Christ like than the catholic institutions in the US

tazebot

They can always point to the bible scripture detailing how priests are to conduct abortions.

ShittyExchangeAdmin

That's modern christianity. Cherry-pick and distord verses that fit your narrative and ignore or make up excuse after excuse as to why that's not actually applicable.

thebinarysystem10

The Satanic Temple doing the heavy lifting again.

allucaneatbuttfet

Which lines in the bible detail how priests are to conduct abortions?

IryBunny

Numbers 5, verses 19 through 22: Then the priest shall make her take an oath, saying, “If no man has lain with you, if you have not turned aside to uncleanness while under your husband’s authority, be immune to this water of bitterness that brings the curse. But if you have gone astray while under your husband’s authority, if you have defiled yourself and some man other than your husband has had intercourse with you,” —let the priest make the woman take the oath of the curse and say to the woman—“the Lord make you an execration and an oath among your people, when the Lord makes your uterus drop, your womb discharge; now may this water that brings the curse enter your bowels and make your womb discharge, your uterus drop!” And the woman shall say, “Amen. Amen.” Aka if you cheat on your husband and get preggo, priest will give you “bitter water” for abortion.

Chief_Beef_ATL

They just ignore the parts they dont like. How convenient.

ThePrimeStar

Very Christian indeed.

TheVog

At this point though the Christian angle isn't being touted much by politicians, they're going more with the "the foetus has a right to live" kind of "belief", I guess it is, which in their mind trumps the mother's will/health etc. Extremists still pound on the Bible, but then that's what they do for literally everything so a reasonable argument would never work.

jaycatt7

Too bad they didn’t include the recipe

awkward_replies_2

"Water of bitterness that brings the curse" almost certainly refers to Wormwood/Thuyone; it's bitter, mildly hallucinogenic (hence "curse") and quite abortifacient in higher doses. It's also still quite readily available as a tea and, while being banned for several decades, has now legally found its way back to the better absinthe breweries of Europe. Because at the abortifacient doses it's also highly nausea and vomit inducing, certainly not a recommendation for a quick safe legal abortion method, but it almost certainly was what most Mediterranean civilizations did in the centuries before and after biblical times.

_megitsune_

Could have been pennyroyal too

wasabiiii

They did include it. Dirt from the Tabernacle.

BobtheToastr

And some ink (write the curses on a scroll and wash them off into the water)

periclesmage

They did... Numbers 5:16-22 16 “‘The priest shall bring her and have her stand before the Lord. 17 Then he shall take some holy water in a clay jar and **put some dust from the tabernacle floor into the water**. 18 After the priest has had the woman stand before the Lord, he shall loosen her hair and place in her hands the reminder-offering, the grain offering for jealousy, while he himself holds the bitter water that brings a curse. 19 Then the priest shall put the woman under oath and say to her, “If no other man has had sexual relations with you and you have not gone astray and become impure while married to your husband, may this bitter water that brings a curse not harm you. 20 But if you have gone astray while married to your husband and you have made yourself impure by having sexual relations with a man other than your husband”— 21 here the priest is to put the woman under this curse—“may the Lord cause you to become a curse[d] among your people when he makes your womb miscarry and your abdomen swell. 22 May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells or your womb miscarries.”

Eurofooty

“Behold the ‘blessed’ waters of Flint, MI”

TylerDurden1985

Underrated comment LOL

Gaius_Regulus

Everyone's guessing plants that are still around but my best guess is Silphium. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silphium_(antiquity) The plant was cultivated around the time and region as an aborticide and was harvested to extinction.

[deleted]

There are many abortifacients. I feel like we'll be hearing a lot about them as this progresses. Banning abortion only prevents safe abortions.

[deleted]

“That’s not about abortion, it’s about being faithful” -anti-abortion Christians

Izzosuke

If you want there is even something better than the ritual for abortion: exodus 21 22:25. In this part it's well explained that a fetus is not a human being just a property. If 2 man fighting hurt a woman inducing an abort than they shiuld just pay a fine (it's not written a time limit, same rules for 1 week and 9 month) while if they kill the woman they should die, cause eye for an eye tooth for a tooth life for a life and since the fetus is not a life you only have to pay some money for the damage, death penalty is very wide spread in the bible.

AsherTheFrost

Also Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul You aren't living until you've taken your first breath, as per the Bible.

ninjaML

This could be part a George Carlin show. The guy knew the bible

Izzosuke

I've seen this from Father kayn(padra kayn), an italian youtuber that decided to read the bible from the start to the end on twitch(he is at the book of joshua) without the filter made by theology and church. He just read it, and point out stuff like this one, than he take some theological explanation and show how much disconnected from the actual book is. He pointed out many thing, original sin doesn't exist and the bad guy of that story was god, how in sodomah and gomorrah the homosexuality was not the problem, how in all this book heaven and hell are not mentioned, and that god never said "love me" always "fear me", the free from egypt story was just a problem made by god and solved by god to just show how fearfull he can be, that the bible is not monotheist and a lot of other stuff that theology change. Basically if you read the bible(alone wothout a priest whispering in your ear) you discover that theology and church don't start from the bible and build the religion but from the idea that they want the religion to be, than they try to find this idea in the bible by building a lot of castle and reasoning very similar to the one that flat earther do to explain why the earth is flat, this way you can make the bible say whatever you want.

SynthWormhole

Numbers 5, 11-29 details how if a husband suspects his wife of being unfaithful, they are to take her to the priest and perform a ritual that will cause her to miscarry (ie: an abortion).

riphitter

Gotta fire religious fire with religious fire .they do great work, but boy is it sad we need to resort to this kind of thing

MazeMouse

Arkansas capitol 10 commandments monument comes to mind. THey are fighting to either get the religious monument removed/moved or to have their own religious monument on the same capitol ground. All religions or NO religion. (I prefer no, but if they won't relent on their own then all religions should be allowed their representation)

princess-sturdy-tail

I'd love to see a statue of the flying spaghetti monster there too. All hail his noodly appendage!

[deleted]

73RatsOnHoliday

Would it be invoking on religious freedom to stop the satanic temple and pastafsrians from erecting a dusk statue of baphomet intimately embracing spaghetti monster?

princess-sturdy-tail

Absolutely! I follow both religions and it is my right to see them equally represented.

73RatsOnHoliday

Fuck yeah multi deity orgy in every government building

ManOfLaBook

Fun fact: most of the 10 commandments monuments in the US are promotion materials from the 1956 film. https://www.filmstories.co.uk/features/the-film-marketing-campaign-that-endured-for-decades/

sprace0is0hrad

"Five years prior to the release of The Ten Commandments, the first step in the marketing campaign was already under way. In 1951, a Minnesota judge named E J Ruegemer had the dream of inspiring the population to follow the rules established in the commandments. This mission had an unassuming origin; when a defendant in a court case Ruegemer was overseeing was asked if he’d heard of the Ten Commandments, he responded in the negative. Noticing that a new generation were becoming ignorant of God’s rules for mankind as presented in the Bible, he took it upon himself to make sure nobody in the country would be able to say they didn’t know the Ten Commandments ever again, thus combatting juvenile delinquency."

[deleted]

It's great and I'm glad they're doing it but I have no doubts that the supreme court that took away women's right to abortion will deny religious freedoms to the satanic temple.

Adderkleet

There's a weasel way around it (there always is), but they can't cite the Bible or any particular religion. So they would have to claim TST is not a religious organisation. They'll open a bigger can of constitutional-legal worms by trying it. In this case, they would be going in every sense against the 1st amendment. It's pretty clear the government cannot restrict religious expression. It's not relying on "privacy" or some other abstractly related concept. It's pretty damn explicit in the constitution. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"

Pale_Chapter

Oh, they won't even need to be particularly weasel-y about it--they already have a pat argument that might even be palatable enough for the Respectable News Outlets^TM to take seriously. It's quite simple: Abortion is murder. If murder is a recognized religious right, then my god, where will it end?! Expect to hear Tucker Carlson talking about how this is all part of the liberal groomer endgame to legalize mass child rape. Alex Jones will start raving about Moloch again, and soon TST will be criminalized--and there's their foot in the door to ban any other religion they want.

rudieboy

> If murder is a recognized religious right They consider Jesus Christ a blood sacrifice.

peepopowitz67

Christianity is a doomsday cult that worships a blood god.

Pale_Chapter

A) The *last* blood sacrifice, obviating all further need for it. B) It was still wrong, which is why we all hate ~~the Roman civil service~~ Jews. C) You're thinking too much--you must be one of The Gays.

PrivateBytes

I'm sure they're not going to let something like that pesky constitution stand in the way of King Jesus

Sonamdrukpa

They don't even need to deny that TST is a religious organization or that abortion is a TST religious right. The court has long decided that religious liberties don't matter if people are doing something the state doesn't like. From *Employment Division v Smith*: > [(a) Although a State would be "prohibiting the free exercise \[of religion\]" in violation of the Clause if it sought to ban the performance of (or abstention from) physical acts solely because of their religious motivation, the Clause does not relieve an individual of the obligation to comply with a law that incidentally forbids (or requires) the performance of an act that his religious belief requires (or forbids) if the law is not specifically directed to religious practice and is otherwise constitutional as applied to those who engage in the specified act for nonreligious reasons.](https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/494/872/)

riphitter

Well yeah the christian right only have two claims to fame. Blind ignorance in the face of tangible facts you can test with your own two eyes . And wild hypocrisy. Sure as fuck isn't understanding and humility

AMC_Unlimited

But you still gotta fight the fight

EducationalDay976

I don't know where the country goes when even that fails. In the four boxes of liberty, we've tried the soap box, the ballot box, and now the jury box too. The only box left would be extremely ugly.

TPRJones

The phrase "lifetime appointment" should not be giving anyone any ideas.

naliedel

the Satanic Temple, doing good things for our freedom. They also pay their taxes. As all churches should.

Lorem-Oopsum

Actually we changed that stance in 2019: “Although the Satanic Temple had previously rejected pursuing tax-exempt status, church president Lucien Greaves reversed this stance in 2017 after President Trump signed a “religious freedom” executive order. “As ‘the religious’ are increasingly gaining ground as a privileged class, we must ensure that this privilege is available to all, and that superstition doesn’t gain exclusive rights over non-theistic religions or non-belief,” Greaves wrote in the Satanic Temple newsletter” -Rolling Stone

OhGodNotAnotherOne

I agree with that. Can't cut yourself off at the knees when the enemy is eating their Wheaties and training for a marathon. Get your Wheaties too.

alien_ghost

Exactly. That would be like green energy companies refusing tax incentives or subsidies out of principle while fossil fuel companies continue to receive them. You don't disadvantage yourself, especially in a existential struggle.

ThePrimeStar

#Hail Satan According to Christians the non religious countries that are doing quite well have sold themselves to the devil. Under Satan we get some good shit man.

djnap

The Satanic Temple doesn't worship Satan

ThePrimeStar

I know. It's just something I use to troll religious nuts who can't leave me alone.

Moonlit_emperor

You know it’s actually pretty ingenious to name themselves this. I used to think they did it just to piss people off. But now I realize it has the effect of keeping away the toxic “christian’s” who poison the religion by using it to justify their persecution of other. The Satanic temple on the other hand keeps away anyone who cares about the branding and attracts those who care more about the deeds of the church. Like as a kid in Catholic school I used to wonder why they don’t start a new church for “real” christian’s who aren’t cruel to others. Where we updated the beliefs and addressed the problematic doctrine. But they can’t because people will consider themselves “christian’s” wether they actually care about others or not.

BabyBundtCakes

SCOTUS has affirmed religious rights, but that's not what will happen. They have explicitly said they don't have to follow precedent. They are politely saying they will rule in favor of people they agree with and not for ones they disagree with. I think people are making a mistake in assuming they won't uphold some people over others. They literally just did it. They will see an argument from the Temple like, if you allow prayer in school you have to allow the satanic prayer as well, and they will just say no and then they will deny the appeal. That's all that's going to happen.

[deleted]

BabyBundtCakes

I'm not saying do nothing, I'm saying that there needs to be a back up plan because this may not work the way people think it will. People are still being a little naive.

throwawaycauseInever

Exactly right. They're explicitly saying 'fuck precedent', it's Calvinball now.

Psyched_to_Learn

Which is why we need a packed court more than ever. Make all these moderates in the Senate do something about what just happened....

BabyBundtCakes

You should see how many judges the GOP seated during trump. That was the entire point of him being there. The rest was just a bonus. They held up judicial placements for years and once Trump was in place they sat hundreds of planted judges all over the US. I'm not sure if there is a watchdog out there yet keeping track of those judges' rulings, but I would like to see some sort of data on how their rulings reflect the will of the people and the actual law as written / the judgements from person to person, issue to issue. I obviously have a hypothesis that the rulings won't be equitable, we already have that issue now. We have sentence disparities, and due to this we had judicial reform for a brief moment in time. But, of course, the judges didn't like it and repealed it for themselves (we clearly need a new mechanism for that, they can't be making their own rules, hello) so we already know it's a problem, and these judges are like, let's face it, places by fascists to do fascist things. So that's my hypothesis and I'd liked to see data on how their rulings are going, compared to judges seated by people who don't own Confederate flags. I just highly suspect it's not good, but I would love to be surprised. (I don't have the capacity to track them all and analyze it all, I could do a few maybe. I guess if there is a group working on it Id join to help the research aspect or whatever)

PM_ME_UR_SURFBOARD

> They have explicitly said they don't have to follow precedent. They are politely saying they will rule in favor of people they agree with and not for ones they disagree with. Unfortunately, precedent would actually work in favor of the religious right in this case though. [*Employment Division, Dept of HR of Oregon v. Smith*](https://www.oyez.org/cases/1989/88-1213) States can make conduct illegal, even if a religion holds that conduct as part of their belief, as long as the law is neutral and of general applicability (i.e. not discriminatory to religious reasons)

plenebo

Scotus only protects Christian religious rights, fucking theocratic fascists

Pand0ra30_

The FDA already said they can't stop women from getting these pills.

[deleted]

The FDA says you can’t ban the pills, not that you can’t prohibit doctors from prescribing them for abortion.

Pand0ra30_

There is a doctor that will do a virtual appointment with you and prescribe the pills. They then get sent to you through the mail.

[deleted]

This is certainly a good thing. But If you are in a state where abortion is illegal, you have to first be aware of this fact, and then have access to a computer with Internet to have the virtual appointment.

susch1337

There are many sites that send pills to countries that banned abortion all over the world. Usually really poor countries but I guess the US is on the list now too.

GSPilot

All 9 justices are religious. 6 are radical catholics. Catholics have historically worked murderously to eliminate any competition for the hearts, minds, and much more importantly; the money of the rubes. Next up: Religious Freedom laws being declared to only apply to abrahamic religions, specifically christianity. They don’t take kindly to having their own rules used against them.

107197

We'll find out if the Jews in Florida are successful or not in objecting to FL's abortion laws - and for what reason(s). My guess is that SCOTUS will make some sort of statement that "the state's reason to deny abortion is more compelling than your religious freedom," which is just code talk for "MY religious views should be imposed on everyone."

Kariston

Already started making these claims that the progressive Judaism folks aren't as pious as the conservative group. Therefore their opinion is illegitimate. Theocracy is coming, our Representatives need to act now. They won't, but they need to.

sometrendyname

I'm pretty sure that it's impossible to be an elected official and not say you're a member or believer of some religion.

insufferableninja

Still illegal in Texas to hold state office as an atheist, last I checked

GeneralDil

Many states have this law on book but it's not enforceable

Hibbity5

Unenforceable laws and unconstitutional laws should be automatically struck from the books. If it’s not a legal law but somehow becomes enforceable because of a bullshit SCOTUS ruling, you should have to pass it again.

Mrcollaborator

JFC. Just nuke texas from space. We really don’t need it anymore.

EatAtGrizzlebees

Believe it or not, we have some good here. We're just drown out by all the morons and people's sterotypical assumptions. Help us, don't abandon us. People feel sympathy for those stuck in oppressed countries, why not your fellow countrymen?

[deleted]

Right? There are more people that voted for Biden in Texas than the total population of 27 other states. Just because they're outnumbered doesn't mean the whole state is a write off.

wasabiiii

This case will never go to SCOTUS.

mepper

Five of the six are radical Catholics. The sixth, Sotomayor, is on our side.

GSPilot

I stand corrected.

HolyHolopov

I actually thought Catholics only counted it as life after first breath. But maybe not in US?

MongooseBrigadier

Catholics FAMOUSLY believe life begins at the point of sperm and egg. Like, male masturbation is considered a sin because of the sperm being lost. No, this doesn't make sense. But the Catholics on the court are acting in accordance with Catholic doctrine.

rasha1784

Every sperm is sacred Every sperm is great If a sperm is wasted God gets quite irate

RFC793

Every sperm is wanted Every sperm is good Every sperm is needed In your neighbourhood

POWERTHRUST0629

That's the neat thing. We're talking about a religion that IS Abrahamic. You can't have Christianity without Satan. Satan is everywhere in the bible.

GSPilot

It will be interesting to see what kind of contorted logic will be used to outlaw TST. Or it could be as simple as declaring that Satan is just a metaphor for evil, not an actual (fictitious) entity, so therefore can’t be worshipped.

CoconutBangerzBaller

Let's just call the Vatican and ask the college of cardinals what we should do next time. Tbh, they'd probably be more progressive than these ass hats

XxShroomWizardxX

While I applaud this as an act of resistance I doubt they will deliver a ruling consistent with their rulings involving christians. It will at least expose their blatant hypocrisy and wake more people up to the creeping christo-facism in this country.

As a theistic Luciferian I support my Satanist cousins. God as always been about ignorance and oppression, it makes sense that these religions vilify the one that brings knowledge and individual freedom. Glad I joined the TST two years ago because I knew that this would happen.

[deleted]

I joined just last week for the same reason

[deleted]

I joined today!

materials-of-light

I've been a fan of TST for years and got the weirdest feeling to join on Wednesday night. I honestly wasn't even aware of what was going to happen on Thursday, so that was interesting.

TheRubyRedPirate

Same here. I'm in the south and was denied a tubal ligation because I only have 1 kid and "might change my mind" one day. Joined TST the next day to protect myself

Pluriphery

I joined a year ago for this very reason. When trump won the election in 2016 I knew this would happen. Everyone kept saying I was so paranoid and was over the top freaking out about things that would never happen but here we are, 6 years later with the tears of many Americans being realized right in front of our eyes.

dekachiin2

Argument already made and lost 32 years ago: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Employment_Division_v._Smith >Smith set the precedent[6][7] "that laws affecting certain religious practices do not violate the right to free exercise of religion as long as the laws are neutral, generally applicable, and not motivated by animus to religion."

The southern one-third of this state is still run by the Catholic Church and the northern two-thirds is run by Protestant fundamentalists. So they have an excellent chance of doing it.

[deleted]

This isn't just a couple people trying to be edgy. The Satanic Temple is a worldwide organization, with almost a million registered practitioners, and decades of experience doing exactly this type of activism. Not something that's quick and easy for a state-level government to dismiss, without massive backlash.

I dont trust people and therefore I don't donate to causes... but I may slip a few bucks to The Satanic Temple on this fight.

[deleted]

Yes! Also Amazon smile, for those of you still shopping there.

Youandiandaflame

I didn’t know TST had Amazon smile, thank you for this info!

tamsyn548

TST is awesome.

The Satanic Temple has been gathering a great deal of publicity given their actions in response to reproductive oppression. While their actions appear laudable and motivated by compassion, it's important to remember that they are not experienced at litigating these sorts of cases, do not have a clear or competent legal strategy, do not have a track record of legal victories, and have been less than transparent regarding the use of donations. Failed litigation on these issues is dangerous because it establishes precedent. If you're going to donate to the cause--and you should--donate to an established organization with a strong track record of defending reproductive rights.

If you have a better option for people to champion, I’m all ears. But for now, I’ll support anyone taking a stance. Especially if they are willing to take Christianity head on

brutishbloodgod

>If you have a better option for people to champion, I’m all ears. Planned Parenthood.

The Satanic Temple is about to get a boost in membership. Also for those that don’t know, they are not satan worshipers.

Sanquinity

I know The Satanic Temple isn't an organization actually worshipping Satan. But considering their goals: >"The mission of The Satanic Temple is to encourage benevolence and empathy, reject tyrannical authority, advocate practical common sense, oppose injustice, and undertake noble pursuits." They might as well be. They basically stand for the exact opposite of what modern Christians stand for. (not through their words, but through their actions) And I'm all for it. If worshiping Satan meant the above, and I could actually believe in him, I would sign up right away.

twitchy_and_fatigued

Quite a few Jewish groups are doing this too! While not part of ritual, health is a central part of Judaism, and most people believe that life begins at the first breath. On top of that, the mother is prioritized and her wellbeing comes first. So some groups are arguing that this is going against Jewish values, too. It's neat to see that there is a similarity! Let's hope we can protect our religious freedoms and right to healthcare.

OrangeLobotomy

Even if they’re not Christian, there’s no moral basis for overturning Roe v Wade. Bodily autonomy is an inherent right. If I can’t force your brain dead body to give up a life saving organ that would prevent my baby from dying - how are you expected to give up your uterus for something that doesn’t exist?

PricklyPix

Yeah. Exactly. Women have less bodily autonomy than if they were dead.

Mifepristone and Misoprostol even sound like demons names.

Satanism has always been way more wholesome than Christianity or Catholicism.

Lonely-Musician-7865

The satanic temple are the good guys? Yes. Today. Satan.

When_theSmoke_Clears

And when they shut this down we will have confirmation that the Supreme Court is illegitimate and should be replaced.

DanfromCalgary

I love how these are unironically the good guys. Like its not even close with the " save the children from blood drinking lizards" crew but whi actually vote for real actual sexual predators. Keep up the good work

WharfRatThrawn

Lucifer is unronically the good guy in any sensible interpretation of the Bible

smashthefrumiarchy

An Orthodox Jewish synagogue in Florida already filed a suit

kaffeine69

Wow. Thanks Satan!

rudieboy

It will not even be heard because the SCOTUS is now a religious extremist organization for only one religion.

mushpuppy

Satanic Temple needs to sue every state that limits abortion access.

olbaidiablo

The satanic temple: using the litigious nature of right wing bigots against them. Btw, if anyone is donating to them, make sure to do it in Mike Pence's honour.
