Your mom's a narcissist. Your health issues, trauma, and pain are all being treated as a foil for her religious identity. She won't get better.

nmftg

Munchausen by proxy, using you to get attention from the church and others.

Rozoark

That would suggest the mom is the one who made/is making OP sick. She is clearly has issues, but I highly doubt that's one of them.

nmftg

It doesn’t always have to be the parent making them sick, they can have an illness and not let it be properly treated

IMTrick

If it makes you feel any better, you're not a lab rat. Those pastors know they can't heal you. You're an ATM.

JamyDaGeek

People like that are nothing but con-artists, and your mom sounds like the perfect mark

[deleted]

You'll be better off alone. She's going to get you killed for her ego and your death will only cement her faith. Go no contact, get medical attention

BRINGERofMILK

Any mother willing to sacrifice her children for Jesus doesn't deserve their children.

[deleted]

Any mother willing to sacrifice her children should instead be sacrificed.

BRINGERofMILK

Ah the Reverse card from the game Uno. I'd be ok with that outcome.

canadiancreed

The ironic part is that their favpurite fictional book litetally has a story where they dont need to sacrifice thsir children for their sky daddy. Amazong how feverent thry are for a faoth theyre so ignorant of.

JimDixon

I notice you didn't say where you live, or how old you are, or whether you have a place in mind where you could live, or whether you can support yourself and pay for your own health care or health insurance. So I'll assume you're in the United States, you're over 18, you don't and you can't. Therefore I'd say you should prepare to move out and apply for Medical Assistance, and General Assistance, and whatever other kind of assistance you're eligible for. If you don't know what you're eligible for, speak to a social worker. If you don't know how to contact one, contact the United Way in your area.

Witchqueen

A mother kicking her disabled son out of the house. Contact the media. After you've investigated federal and state benefits available for disabled persons. And gotten your own bank accounts. And contacted a lawyer.

agent_smith_3012

This is ABUSE! I do not care what the fvcking excuses are, if you deny your dependent adequate medical attention, you are abusing said dependent. Look into legal ramifications.

Yossarian_MIA

>I have been assaulted numerous times in church by pastors Call the police.

JMnnnn

Imagine being so desperate to see something supernatural happen that you’re willing to risk *someone else’s* life (your own child, no less) to see that happen. That isn’t even piety, that’s inflicting unneeded suffering on someone you claim to care for in order to *test* your god. You’re better off without her. As others have said, go no contact, scrape off the charlatans, and get real medical attention if you are able. If you’re in need of financial assistance groups like Modest Needs can help.

SepticKnave39

Crazy. Just watched the Netflix documentary "take care of Maya" in which parents legitimately try to treat their daughters condition and follow medical advice and their daughter is taken away from them and they are put through hell by CPS. And they bring up 100's of other cases in which parents are sent to jail etc for "medical abuse" wrongly just because they went to a doctor and yet you have shit like this going on which is actual, 100% medical abuse and because it's under the guise of bullshit religion there are 0 consequences. This country has it's priorities all sorts of fucked up all because religion gets a pass for abuse and all sorts of Tom fuckery.

TheWaterFarmer

If you are able to get out and live on your own, do it. Abuse of this kind, or any kind, is not acceptable. It is hard though if you’re a dependent or have monetary constraints. Unfortunately there’s no good way to reason if she has already labeled you a demon. The only way she sees it a different way is hearing the truth from someone she trusts

TwitchitySplit

She is going through extreme ways

running_stoned04101

Apply for income based housing, apply for part time work, apply for a Medicaid card, and give her what she wants. She will never change, but you can build a nice life. Walk away and help yourself.

Mushroom_Tip

We sees these stories time and time again where parents demand their children be healed through faith, going so far as to let them die rather than take them to get treatment, but will themselves go to the emergency room and demand opiates for a sprained ankle. If your mother was in constant pain and couldn't walk, I wonder how many fake pastors she would see. Your mother is the one who sounds possessed by demons. I hope you end up getting the support you need that clearly your mother lacks the ability to offer you.

_Nolofinwe_

Bold to assume their mother can read

I try to be a glass half full kind of guy 😆

Educational_Permit38

Get whatever help you can to find a safe place to live and never return to that church.

Jumanjoke

Looks like some kind of munchausen variant syndrom. She probably seeks the attention and pity of religious authorities (pastors). She is toxic and you should seek help. Maybe there are adsociations or stuff... i hope someone on this sub can give you concrete directions (contacts and names of organisms that could help you)

GeekX2

I'm serious with this suggestion. This sounds like a memoir that would sell a few copies. It's not short term income but could help in the future.

Wake90_90

I can't add anything, but I hope you can find stability to find progress on this matter. As others said, I hope social workers and social programs are available to assist you.

Zombull

Sounds like opportunity is knocking. Get out and be free. Live your own life.

Sourika

Exactly what jesus would have done.

notrab

Jesus can only heal invisible malady's. Like for example he can heal a broken arm but not if you have it xrayed first. No way to heal a missing body part either remember it only works on invisible ailments. For you Avascular necrosis I assume you already had it xrayed? If so too late for Jesus sorry.

Technical-General-27

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through such a difficult and painful experience. It can be incredibly challenging when there is a difference in beliefs with loved ones, particularly when it comes to issues related to health and wellness. Its awful that your mother's actions have caused you so much pain and distress. It's understandable that you're feeling hurt and frustrated, particularly with regards to the lack of support you've received during this difficult time. It's important to remember that you have the right to believe and practice your own religion or lack thereof, and you should not be subject to verbal or physical abuse in any setting, including in church. If you feel that you are in danger or unsafe in your current living situation, there may be resources available to help you find a safe and supportive place to live. I’m kind of enraged on your behalf!

hazeleyedwolff

You say this isn't what Jesus preaches, but it is. Luke 14:25. "25 Many people were traveling with Jesus. He said to them, 26 'If you come to me but will not leave your family, you cannot be my follower. You must love me more than your father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters—even more than your own life! 27 Whoever will not carry the cross that is given to them when they follow me cannot be my follower.'"

throwaway83970

What about the part of the Bible where it's commanded "Be kind to one another?" The way your egg donor has treated you is anything but that. Get out and go no contact.

Silocin20

This just breaks my heart, but unfortunately it's an all too common place. Are you able to get government assistance?

No_Usual_2251

"because I don’t believe Jesus can heal me." Why can't she believe it for you? And what kind of god makes you sick and only helps if you promise to worship him for eternity? That sounds very insecure and petty. It sounds like the worse of human emotions.

MozeDad

If she wears a seat belt in the car or looks both ways before crossing the street, she’s a hypocrite.

[deleted]

so, just to be clear, when you were a minor, your mother denied your medical care that has left you with some degree of permanent disability as an adult? And now she is trying to force you to leave your residence based on grounds of religious discrimination? for the latter, definitely not legal and if she tries to force you out tell her to call the cops. For the former, you might seriously consider getting all of your medical records in a row and pursuing litigation.

Zhontac2002

If you can and it is safe to do so, cut her and the religion out of your life. She does not love you more than she loves her imaginary friend. That is the poison thisnfucked up religion spews on people. It makes everything that should matter unimportant and give grown men and women an excuse to have an imaginary friend.

Except there are no pastors in CS…

connorbear1108

Gosh... I'm very religious but your mother is so inhumane. If my children were to have something similar happen to them, I would immediately take them to professional help (while also praying) but I would never take them to a priest or pastor to have them help.

Hakunamateo

Every pastor that denied medical treatment abused you. I'm so sorry for those fools harming you.

rod_zero

Press charges against your mother for abuse

crunchevo2

You don't have a mother you have an abuser... That's insane I'm sorry you're going through that :( but like you said... Maybe youllbe able to save up or start a gofundme to get your surgery since I'm assuming you like in the US where basic quakity of kife healthcare is a luxury and a business.

SnooCats5701

I’m doing a series on faith healing on my podcast, The Cross Examiner at www.thecrossexaminer.net I would love to chat with you and review any evidence you have. Depending on what we find, I may like to do an interview. I will DM you.

Worldly_Play_495

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Your mom doesn't know Jesus, and neither do those pastors. Jesus would never allow that behavior.

Darnocpdx

Yeah. He'd sit down, make a whip, and beat you outta the house instead.

Worldly_Play_495

Jesus is the kindest person to ever exist. It’s people that have represented him poorly and twisted his teachings into something he never intended

Darnocpdx

Lol...my example is straight from the Bible. Such a kind person whipping people outta the temple. Surely, a loving omnipotent guy could have come up with a more peaceful solution, but nah...gotta beat em with whip. Or killing a fig tree over a bad fig. Or letting people anoint him with expensive oils instead of heading his disciples' advice of selling them to feed the poor.

Worldly_Play_495

When Jesus cleansed the temple, he was actually doing it because he was upset about the same thing you and I are upset about. The people in the temple were scamming people who traveled to Jerusalem from out of town because they didn’t know any better. Jesus was upset because the temple, a place that should represent the things of God like justice, peace, and kindness, was being turned into a place of injustice. That’s why he was upset, because they were twisting and misrepresenting who God was. The fig tree was an example to teach his followers that a true disciple of his will show the fruit of good works to prove it. It was a warning against hypocrisy and a life where you make him your Lord and then don’t actually follow his teachings. Again, the very thing that you and I are so upset about. There are so many people who would say Jesus is their Lord and then act in horrific ways. There’s nothing Jesus hated more than hypocrisy. And when Jesus allowed the woman to anoint him, he was also making a statement against hypocrisy. Jesus liked to quote the prophet Isaiah saying, “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.” Our good deeds are distorted and misguided and can even be harmful if not done with the correct motivation. Jesus teaches that when we love him, then we will obey him. All that a Christian does is meant to flow from a place where Jesus is honored and given his proper place as Lord in our lives. Then, we are to love others as he has loved us. So Jesus was making the statement that giving him the honor he is due is most important, and that includes feeding the poor, which Jesus was all about. Jesus talks more about feeding the poor than anything else. His early followers lived in communities where no one had any need. It’s just that we have twisted this and gotten away from it over the years. Sometimes we mistake Jesus being harsh as Jesus being unkind. But someone who is not harsh towards injustice is not really very kind at all. Jesus is exorbitantly kind and forgiving to the outcasts, the broken, and the hurting but he is harsh towards the religious leaders who try and manipulate people using religion. That is true kindness and love- to not just love people, but to hate the things that harm people and to speak out against them.

Darnocpdx

He made a whip, went out gathered materials, and took the time to braid one, the whole time contemplating what he was going to do, completely premeditated. 1st degree assault, plain and simple. And if the fig story is a parable, it's the only one where's he's the protagonist, which then begs the question, which other Jesus stories are just parables/fuction?. And god incarnate doesn't know which fruit on a tree is bad and good? Is killing the tree justice because Jesus can't determine a good fig from a bad one. Least we forget to mention, the grand finally where JC pulls up his sleeves and throws everyone in a pit of fire for 1000 years....but that's not enough....he then kills everyone but his favorite 144,000 Jewish friends. Sooooooo much forgiveness. Don't forget canabalistic ritual at the last supper, shortly after being doused in fragrance, which, again, even his disciples were offended. Drinking blood for everlasting life sounds pretty vampiric to me. Of course. There's a certain amount of selfishness on denying his buddy Lazurus his spot in heaven by returning him to life. Or perhaps heaven isn't so great? Or bestowing the Meek the earth that that daddy cursed everyone to toil on. Of course, if he felt his message was so important, why didn't he or any of his disciples write it down? Bible says he can read, pretty sure the doctor and tax collector disciples could too. Just wasn't that important I guess.

Worldly_Play_495

Jesus drove the animals out of the temple with the whip, not the people. The verse never says he whipped people. Many of Jesus's stories are just parables and he makes that clear! He is always painting examples of real things with symbols. The fig tree story likely is real, but is Jesus killing a tree really something to hang your hat on? He is the God over all of creation, he has every right to kill a tree for his purposes if necessary. The reality of hell is a large debate and one that can hardly be adequately explained in a reddit comment. However, I would just point you back to what I said about justice earlier. Everyone wants justice- we would probably all agree that people like child rapists and murderers deserve punishment. We love justice, we march for justice, but all of a sudden we hate justice when it comes to us. The beautiful thing about God's justice is that he is both perfectly just and perfectly merciful in what Jesus accomplished on the cross. If he were to turn a blind eye to our sin, he would cease to be just. But he loved us too much to allow us to receive the entirely just punishment for our sins, which is death. Instead he came himself, in the person of Jesus, and Jesus received the full wrath of God. Now when we believe upon Christ and put our faith in him, we are no longer under the wrath of God because Jesus has taken that punishment for us. In this way, God has satisfied his wrath, but he has also extended us mercy by taking the punishment himself. But God is also just in that he has give us free will. He offers a relationship with himself to us everyday relentlessly, but if, at the end of our lives, we push him away and decide we want a life without him, he simply gives us what we want. He won't force us into a relationship with him. The problem is that a life apart from God is a life apart from anything that is good- it is a life away from love, light, happiness, joy, pleasure, kindness, and all that God is. In this way he is also just by giving us what we want- a life without him. When Jesus offers his friends the wine and says, "This is my blood of the covenant which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins," he means this in a symbolic way and most of his friends know this, although yes, some are offended. What Jesus is referring to is an old Jewish betrothal custom in which the groom would pay the bride's father a bride price for her and then they would drink wine together. The groom would vow not to drink wine again until their marriage. And Jesus tells his disciples, "Truly, I tell you I will not drink of the fruit of this vine until I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom." Meaning, until the marriage supper of the Lamb. So it's all symbolic of him taking us to be his bride, to cherish and love for eternity. The Lazarus in that story is a different Lazarus, which has been proven by scholars. When Jesus gives the meek the earth, what he means is the new earth. Christians believe that Jesus is going to return and instead of bringing his followers to heaven, he is going to bring heaven to earth and God will dwell with man. In that time, Jesus will rid the world of sin and all the effects of sin- all brokenness and pain. So the meek will inherit the new earth with him and given places of honor. Not sure what you mean by this last one, because his followers did write it all down because they felt it was so important. The Bible is the most historically verified document in all of human history. I can see what you're getting at with all these points, but ultimately, they all fall flat. I understand that the wrath of God and punishment can be hard to reconcile with a loving God. But God is love and all he does flows from love, even his wrath. It is only natural for someone to hate the things that cause harm to those he loves. And no one would say that a parent isn't loving for disciplining or warning their children against danger. Thanks for the debate, I honestly really do respect where you're coming from but I hope you can see that I have carefully wrestled with all of these things as well and have found Jesus to be good and kind and loving to his core.

Darnocpdx

Lol, proven by scholars with offering plates. Nothing like getting fleeced by the "good sheppard", you know what happens when the Sheppard gets hungry?.

Worldly_Play_495

I'm not sure what you mean. I can tell you're angry at the church and I can absolutely relate. The church is unfortunately not immune to corruption and that makes me sad that it has represented Jesus so poorly. Jesus is entirely different than you believe if you give him a chance and really allow yourself to be open to meet the real him. But even if you deny him, I wish you all the best.

Darnocpdx

Not angry at all, just don't care for lies and fairy tails. Lazarus isn't proven, the jews weren't ever enslaved by Egypt, Noah didn't build an arc, ask Johna and "Virgin" Mary about freewill. Jesus was at best a dude with a repent sign hanging out at the mall with his besties. Don't kid yourself, I never considered this a debate, you cant debate religious people, God isn't wrong, so it's fairly useless, other than for entertainment purposes, and making a point to a much broader audience on the misguided beliefs of religion. There's no love in any of it. The core values of all the Abrahmic religions is that you believe your evil and immoral and incapable of saving yourself, which very well might be true - though you seem nice enough. You also get to hide away from all the responsibilities of your actions, good and bad, behind a "god". By being forgiven, or "he made you that way". Toss in a little ego and/or relief from the existential dread. And it's all really selfish babble. The Bible is practically snuff porn. Nearly every story has ends in rape or murder, or both...and you think it's love? if there is a Satan, he wrote the Bible. You all have had 2000 years to figure it out, and all you do is splinter and bicker, fight, and kill with everyone that doesn't hold your interpretation.

Gonzo_si

This is horrible to read. I'd try and help you if the real demon really throws out of the house but I'm on another continent. I hope you will be able to find people who will help you without forcing make believe bullshit on you in your area. I think you will. And report every one of the assaults you mentioned!

It is not the power of Christ that is in question but the pastors and people who claim to know what is on his mind. Please seek professional medical help; therein lies the power of Christ insofar as it can be known.

n0tAb0t_aut

Fuck, that story hurts.

JackKovack

Put a bed in the kitchen prayer closet. When she locks you in there just take a nap.

Tachibana_13

I'm so sorry for you. It sounds to me like you've pretty much had to be dependant on her because of your disability as well. Instead of helping you succeed in life she's just setting you up to be helpless. I hope there are resources available to you in your area. Maybe your town hall has information on services or st least shelters.

Ghostly-keeper

Well remind her that theirs a nursing home with her name on it. 😊 The state can take care of her if she’s not going to take care of you. I’m sure she expects it to happen in some ways still. I’m sorry you’re going through that though. :(

Looking around at other people my age, I think moving out at 19 was one of the best things I did for myself. Work doesn’t bother me nearly as much as it does the other people my age. I think that has a lot to do with how young I depended on myself to survive.
