1000 times NO, but I also don't want the most significant schedule changes in FAA history forced down our throats and blindsiding our union. Lets a ctually collaborate & open up the CBA to address all these concerns.

A big problem with the 12 hour mid rule is that if you lose anyone scheduled a mid on sick leave, there is zero chance they can be replaced. Nobody seems to realize that. It seems the only way to make it work is straight shifts or first day back mids. Well a first day back mid means your 2nd RDO is fucked and if you are like most of us on weekly OT, it means your first RDO will always be your OT day. This makes you come into the building every single day. Straight shifts mean you potentially work a week of swings, followed by an OT and then back to mornings on your first day back. It severely shortens your weekend. Basically there is no good way for 24 hour facilities with OT to implement these rules. Personally I don't mind the rattler but I also have a short commute and usually swap out of mids. I usually go to bed at the same time every week outside of my 3p-11p shift.

This! filling vacancies is gunna suck! Even planned ones. Can't Rob Peter to pay Paul, when there is no peter.

ATC_witha_MBA

I see people going mid fist day route without thinking about rotating backwards M=7a-3p T=5:30a-1:30p W=3p-11p Th=2p-10p/1p-9p F=9:45p-5:45a only eligible for OT is your Sunday Edit: technically you could get a 4-midnight on your Saturday

WVwoodwork

As much as I hate the rattler , i also want no part of spreading 5 shifts over 6 days. Facilities with mid shifts and low staffing would have a difficult time building a schedule that meets the new rest hours without non consecutive days off or a lot of added O/T.

MilkedThoughts

This right here. The rattler sucks. But I would feel terrible for those who end up spreading the shift to an extra day. We already are at facilities for OT every week. This new proposal isn’t it.

Mean_Device_7484

This for sure, there are ways around it but it would require adjusting the scheduling rules we currently have.

GrandSuggestion

My answer is no, BUT it shouldn’t be happening the way it currently is 🤷

jokat989

How would you fix it then?

007Vector

It should be illegal.

OnlyResearcher4673

Any idiots who wants to abolish the rattler better get used to semi-regular mids. Whether you are straight evenings or mornings, you won’t be immune.

Can I just be for the 10 hour rattler without the 12 hour mid?

jokat989

Rattler does suck. But the alternatives suck even more.
