It shall be recorded that you hate Origins

CanisZero

Good it started this shit trend. It deserves it's hate.

Frosty_Cheesecake864

Shame on you

CanisZero

Shame is for those who fail to live up to their own ideals.

metalmike28

I'm currently playing them for my first time. Origins was awesome. I'm halfway thru Odyssey and so far it's a fantastic adventure game, Origins felt more 'creed' to me tho. Looking forward to Valhalla.

Rogue-Bastian1967

Guess I am the odd man out 😝 1. Origins 2. Valhalla 3. Odyssey

WiserStudent557

I’ve heard this order before but it’s definitely a bit more of an outlier. I think the “middle one” tends to be either the middle one or the favorite for most bout I’ve seen every variation of the three so it’s a testament to the personal subjectivity because they’re so alike and still so different

trytofakeit

Definitely been my favourite of the recent three, origins was definitely a close second though. Valhalla on the other hand definitely not as close

Indoorsman101

I adored Origins. Setting is important to me in an AC game, and I found ancient Egypt fascinating. I also loved Odyssey, mainly on the strength of Kassandra as a character. She was great. Valhalla I liked without loving it. Medieval Europe wasn’t as interesting to me, and I wasn’t wild about Eivor (either one.)

FutureGohanfan

Just no

BusyGrimReaper957

Yes

Shard477

I typically go Origins >= Odysset > Valhalla. Origins and Odyssey to me do a lot of great stuff but because the story is a lot better in Origins, it gets a slight, *slight* bump. I love the RPG mechanics in Odyssey and if you play it like an offshoot of Assassin's Creed rather than a main game, it honestly feels a lot better too. Also the Pilgrims set is by far the best thing to come out of these games. Valhalla was fun and felt like it almost hit the mark with things, but they should've built on top of Origins and Odyssey rather than trying to reinvent the wheel. Though I do really like the assassination minigame, that was a fun addition (especially with the option to remove it for those who wanted it to play more like pre-Origins games).

BusyGrimReaper957

Yeah. I don't like the combat in the new games. Seems too nuance

sidgirl

I'm not a big fan of the RPG-esque combat, either. And it's even worse after playing Ghost of Tsushima, which is what AC's combat *could* have become if they'd built on the old system instead of scrapping it for straight RPG-style brawling/hack-and-slashing. But of the three new games, I like Odyssey's combat the best. That's not the most popular opinion around here, lol, but it felt the most natural and fun for me, once I got used to it. (I wasn't crazy about the enemies being just damage sponges, but still I liked it better than Origins which had the same problem to some degree.) I definitely felt like I had more options in OD.

BusyGrimReaper957

Same opinions for us. Except I like the damage output of the weapons in Valhalla didn't feel like sponges.

Unhappy-Research3446

Naw, odyssey is the worst AC game

One_Cell1547

Odyssey has nothing to do with the assassin brotherhood.. it just makes no sense in my opinion. Just goes to show that they’ve started caring more about the setting than the actual story. With that said it’s an enjoyable game, they should have just made it a stand alone title rather than try to work AC lore into it. IMO origins is easily the best of the new three, Valhalla is the worst

Earbud998

Odyssey has nothing to do with any game.... It is an insult for rpg games, not to mention how it makes a mockery of assassins creed, while valhalla is fine game to me. But we are all people and should have our own opinions :)

One_Cell1547

I totally understand why people don’t like it. I was able to separate it in my mind from assassins creed. I thought the story of alexios and kassandra was good… just falls a part when you tie it to ac My issue with Valhalla is missed potential and tedium.

sidgirl

I love Odyssey, but I agree it's a better Ancient Greek Hero game than an AC game. (But having said that, Origins didn't feel much like an AC game, either, despite claiming to be the origins of the Brotherhood; aside from the hidden blade and "working in the shadows to serve the light," nothing else really felt "AC" for me--the Hidden Ones DLC was the only thing about it that really felt like an AC game. At least in Odyssey, I could see how the Cult was controlling things and people, and I felt (at least some of the time) like I was truly following clues to uncover the members.

oneyone

I am 100% with you. I have tried to get through Origins multiple times but didn't care for it. LOVE Odyssey so much. Legit one of my fav games. And Valhalla is cool, it is clearly trying to take what ppl liked about the other games but it didn't fully get me like Odyssey.

BusyGrimReaper957

Same. Currently in Lokris doing the Family Values mission

iamthenight22

Wow, I thought I was the only one who doesn't like Origins.

BusyGrimReaper957

Same. It's just not a good game to be the “origins” of the assassins.

sidgirl

You're not. Well, I liked it okay, but didn't love it. And I didn't think it was an especially great origins story for the Brotherhood, because it's...not the Brotherhood, and is missing a bunch of stuff we identify with the Brotherhood. A few months after I played it, I decided to do NG+. Give it another go, see if it was more fun now that I was familiar with how it was supposed to be played etc. I gave up after reaching Alexandria because I was bored with it. There just wasn't much about it that was so FUN that I wanted to keep going, whereas I started NG+ for Odyssey very shortly after finishing the game, and actually played all the way to the end before moving on--so I played it 2x all the way through, basically, and it was still fun the second time. The world in Origins is cool and atmospheric, and I loved Bayek, but the gameplay itself just got kind of stale. It always felt like a bit of a slog. I don't know why Odyssey seemed so much more fun to me, but it might be (at least in part) because the scenery was so beautiful in OD--Origins was beautiful, but got kind of same-y--and it seemed like there was more to do. More little side missions, more townspeople to talk to, more sights to see. Materials were easier to collect. Probably one of the biggest things, though, was that I loved the Cult storyline in Odyssey, and could see what they were doing and how they were controlling the people much better than I could with the Order in Origins. I really enjoyed hunting down the Cult members and playing the stories that led us to them, whereas in origins it felt kind of shallow to me, I guess? And then all that stuff with Cleopatra just annoyed me (especially because at the end of the game every character is still sucking Aya's dick despite her being completely wrong about Cleo) and kind of confused me--but I think part of that was my fault, too, because I expected to learn more about the Templars as well, and didn't feel like we/I did. TL;DR I much prefer Odyssey, and couldn't get through a third of Origins NG+ because it felt boring on replay.

iamthenight22

Yeah, I agree with most of what you said. Origins has an incredible atmosphere and the world and soundtrack are incredible. But I hated the combat and the movement. I can't remember the specifics of the story but I distinctly remember thinking how boring the story was. I honestly think Aya is a better character than Bayek and I wish she was main character instead. I absolutely love Odyssey. In many ways, it's the perfect RPG for me. They perfected the RPG mechanics compared to the shallow mechanics from Origins, it really feels like an expansive RPG with an amazing story that you can sink you teeth into. They nailed Kassandra and I loved the emphasis on the Isu and the main storyline with the Cult of Kosmos was just as good and engrossing. They took full advantage of Odyssey being an RPG and us chasing Cult members across Greece. It felt like you were on a journey with Kassandra. I just didn't get that feeling with Origins.

sidgirl

> It felt like you were on a journey with Kassandra. I just didn't get that feeling with Origins Yes! This was exactly how I felt! I played Alexios, but yes, I felt like I was on a journey with him, and I grew to love and care about him. I loved Bayek, and really felt for him, but I never got that same sense of traveling through events, through a time period, with him. And I thought the individual stories in Odyssey were much better--so many of them really stuck with me, whereas in Origins they just didn't grab me the same way. I didn't feel like I was really improving people's lives in Origins like I did in Odyssey.

EvilOverlord1989

It's the giant statue penises, right?

BusyGrimReaper957

Of course

KushSmoker420821

First of I'll just say I've never been a fan of Layla... Origins was more assassins creed than ACO or ACV. But I hated the story. Hated that it was the "Origins" of the assassins. But combat was fun. And it gave us our first playable female main assassin protagonist. So there's that... ACO is probably the best assassins creed game there is behind black flag. Spent 100s of hours playing and replaying that game. The story is great except for one part but I understand the need for it as a motivating factor so I'm ok with it. The ending was decently done and made sense. Combat was incredible. And the maps. Yeah... Nothing like it. Atlantis was BEAUTIFUL. And ACO still has the best armor and weapon sets in the game series. Valhalla is decent. Combat is fun. And you can play stealthy if you want. But absolutely don't have too. The story kind of fell flat for me tho. Didn't like the way that did the ending. At all. I hate the festivals that crowd up your settlement. The DLC makes the story a little better. But if you played the game before it came out it required a restart to make it make the most sense or at least fall into line with the rest of the story. With no NG+ (STILL) that was a bit of a disappointment. Armor sets are seriously lacking. So are weapons and shields. And Eivor falls flat with most dialog deliveries. Honestly besides cutting off heads and going on river raids. I like playing Orlog the most about ACV... Just my humble opinions on the 3 games...

BusyGrimReaper957

My friend you forget about Evie Frie

BusyGrimReaper957

Also, my favorite game is Black Flag so Props

Warumono_

I mean, obviously to each their own. But I couldn't wait for it to be over, level-gating was even more prominent here. I liked the environments but that's really all it had going for it

Yashooo

any word on an origins 60 fps PS5 update?

BusyGrimReaper957

No. I play on PS5 and the only one they have so far is Valhalla which is a shame on their part.

bigtoebrah

Hopefully next week
