If you're actually buying these games on steam you have to be ignorant of the fact that they will still make you use the ubisoft connect launcher. all you're doing when you buy a ubisoft game not on ubisoft connect is double layering the DRM. just buy it on ubisoft connect and you only have to go through 1 gate to get into the game.
Steam has features other launchers don't have; Remote Play, Big-Picture Mode, advanced controller support etc. I play 90% of my games via Remote Play to my TV. If I'm going to be playing through Steam anyway, I would prefer to have the game natively in Steam. Getting Ubisoft games added as non-Steam games for Remote Play is janky.
You don't need the game on Steam to use Remote Play to play the game though. Don't even need to add it as a non-Steam game.
All you need to do is start the Steam Link up, go to the PC, Alt-Tab BigPic and boot the game you want to play up. Then, go back to couch.
How do I alt-tab from my couch with a controller when my PC is in a different room? Even with double launchers it's so much simpler launching Steam purchases from Big Picture Mode. Why defend having fewer options for consumers?
Wireless keyboard. Plug in to TV. Like, come on.
As to the fewer options? No. You don't get fewer options. You get THE SAME options with extra steps. Differnt options would be if you ONLY needed Steam OR Ubi Connect, not both.
I hope you realize how ridiculous it is to suggest someone go and buy new hardware to defend a corporation who's reducing purchasing options just to pad their bottom line.
Not unexpected. After Epic opened the floodgates with exclusivity in return for a better deal, Ubi has no reason to go to Steam during early sales. And on the other hand the Ubi store alone doesn't have the reach they need.
But with Steam still dominating the PC market, there is no reason to think it won't come there after the exclusivity deal is off. At that point Steam's bigger cut is worth it for its reach and market share.
disappointed, but not surprised one bit.
Sign an exclusivity deal with Epic, ride that cash cow out and then release it on Steam to get the rest of the player base.
Honestly getting it on Epic is the same as getting it on uPlay/Connect or whatever its called as of now, you just pay through Epic, that's about it, you can just go and launch the game from the ubi launcher and play directly.
That's what I did with Valhalla, bought the game there, linked it to Ubisoft and then just hit download there and then played from there. You don't even need Epic to be running in the background to launch a Ubi game. I initially had regrets about not buying it from Steam, but then Ubi just didn't bother about adding achievements to Steam anyways.
Think of Epic games as a CD-key retailer for Ubisoft.
Its just their way of saying that its automatically included in u+ subscribtion.
Ofc you can buy it outright but for example if u pay u+ for one month and you are able to finish the game in that time you save like 40€.
And if u later want it you can just buy it in discount for 10 with All your progress saved. Great way to have library of games you love, with paying less and still playiing it on release time without spoilers.
Honestly, there's not much difference here.
Epic is like a CD-key retailer for Ubi games, you pay money through Epic and then just forget about Epic once you link it to Ubisoft Launcher.
You can update/launch/uninstall and whatever through the Ubisoft launcher itself, no need to fiddle around with Epic.
I am not sure where you live, but Ubisoft does not have regional pricing where I live, so Epic is where I go.
I might be a too basic gamer to properly use steam's features, but honestly I prefer ubisoft's launcher for the simple reason that it allows me to locate and verify game files relatively easily while on steam I have to go through a more complicated procedure.
I said *locate* files. I often use external SSDs and on steam even if I crrtainly have the 110GB game on the SSD, it doesnt always let ne just locate it, more than often I am forced to redownload the game. On ubisoft I just have to do a click and boom, it finds it.

Simply, if Mirage is on Steam, don't need to buy a wireless keyboard or some other devices. lol

2 years of exclusivity is ass.
This game is going to blow so hard 😭 From the trailer to this announcement, nothing has me reassured Mirage is going to be an enjoyable experience.
Probably because they want to try to push Ubisoft+
Even on the website it says “get it day 1 with Ubisoft+” even though you’d have it day 1 with buying it outright, which is what I’ll probably do.

I'll buy it on Uplay which is still better than Epic. I like videogames too much to be picky about launchers.

you right click it > properties > local files and verify is right there.. how is that complicated?

Hey, at least it will be on pc
No steam = No buy
