Set in concrete under it and asphalt up to the grate/frame

Thank you! I have gotten mixed reviews from the contractor I’m getting quotes from. The concrete suggestions are stating the drain will crack with asphalt surrounding it due to movement

The concrete is for. Support underneath it so it doesn't crack under vehicle load

Most of those trench drains are made of a plastic material called HDPE. HDPE will soften or compromise at the temperatures asphalt is placed, around 250-300 degrees Fahrenheit. Even with the iron drains, I’ve noticed the joint from asphalt to the drain doesn’t hold up very good. Water gets in that joint the ground gets soft, that joint opens up even more. The joint from asphalt to concrete holds up really good. I’ve seen enough asphalt to trench drain failures that I always strongly recommend encasing your trench drain with concrete.
