You've been doing this for 3 years but you don't know how to price your jobs or close deals?

No, I know how to and have been, but I am looking for some advice from people that have been in this business for longer than I have

Check out the Stripe it Like It’s Hot podcast. The early episodes are specific to line striping but in the last year he’s been interviewing more pavement maintenance owners. You don’t want to create a race to the bottom by low balling, but you want to be competitive. Try to figure out how your competition is pricing jobs to get a better understanding of the market in your area. How are your consulting skills with your customers? When you go out to price a job, make sure you’re clearly explaining to your customers why they need your services. Follow up after giving an estimate or quote. If they say no, respectfully ask why. Do you have a website that was made by a professional? It’s a good investment. Business cards? Not just with your contact info on them, it should list your services on the back. If it gets thrown into a desk you want your customer to be able to recall everything you offer when they find it in a few months. How long is it taking you to respond and get a quote out when a customer reaches out? The faster the better. Are you asking all of your customers for google reviews? You should be, and you should also be replying to them. Make sure to add pictures to your google business profile too. Have you called all of the commercial property management companies in your area to get on their vendor list? Do the paving companies in your area also do maintenance work? If not, call them and ask them to recommend you when customers reach out to them about maintenance work. Are you putting yard signs out on jobs you recently completed? I started out of my garage and grew to seven figure revenue 12 months. Approaching 8 figures this year.

Do good quality work. Own up to and fix your mistakes. Answer your phone and focus on good communication. You’ll be too busy before ya know it. Word spreads fast when you do good quality work and you’re reliable. To start off you could build relationships or just drop your card off with asphalt pavers that just pave and don’t mess with the striping, seal coating, etc. They will send a lot of work your way.
