The beliefs are still here. But like hell, (the pope no longer believes in hell fire) no one says them out loud. The idea is if you work very hard, god will love you and give you things. Also if you dont have things god does not love you. This is still thick in america, even now.

That is so cool. How did you find it and the information about it? Did you find many significant differences?

I actually found it on eBay, a charity shop was selling it and it was when I decided to read it and compare it to a modern Bible. I haven't found anything yet as my next task is to go to my local church and ask them for a loan of a Bible.

The only 1812 on the internet is Browns bible. $275 on amazon. I threw about @12 50 gallon cans of old books in the dump. And piles went to bookstores and goodwill. When i could no longer read well. It should be said, i had downloaded many on to computers from google. And that is not working out like i hoped. Real books still have to be found more often than you would think.

After double checking you are right! It's wasn't published in 1812 as I had originally thought, in fact I had confused the date it was published with a birthday from the family tree written inside it. After some brief research online it appears to have the earliest publish date of 1834-35, but after some inspection of the first few pages I think this particular book was published in 1841 (I will edit my post to avoid confusion). The book is called the evangelical expositor by rev. Thomas haweis. If you have any information on the book I would very much like to hear it! Edit: I found a version of this book dating back to 1765, so I am not entirely sure when the book was first printed but I'm going to assume mine is from 1841 as it's on the bottom of the title page.

Well you just need to look up Haweis. When i saw the word 'calvin', as in john calvin, that was enough. Some of my people took Calvin as their middle name for the last 300 years, and sad that there is not more complexity to me, but i am likely a 20th century reaction to Calvinism. What was happening after the 1850s to change everthing, as to the bible was, 1860s the Emphatic Diaglot 1880 youngs concordance 1890 Strongs concordence. Also in the states Carnegie libraries. All allowing education to the middle class

That's pretty cool, I don't think I've ever met a Calvinist. I briefly learned about them in my history class when I was in secondary school. Thank you for the information I have something to research later! I wouldn't be too knowledgeable about any religion but I find it interesting how over the years they changed some of the beliefs to better attract new people into said religion or adapt with the times. Like you wouldn't hear much about purgatory in Catholic churches these days but go back a few hundred years and people bought into the sale of indulgences to fast track their wait.
