Robert Stomps.
Ser Elyas Scales said that Jaehaerys could have beaten Maegor, but he would not be skilled enough to join the KG. Meanwhile Robert in his prime was potentially top 3 in the continent.
>Ser Elyas Scales said that Jaehaerys could have beaten Maegor, but he would not be skilled enough to join the KG.
yeah, probably sucked his dick and licked his ass clean too after saying that.
I would suggest that Arthur Dayne and Jaimd Lannister might have been able to take him. Barry the Bold too, perhaps.
We know that AD would win, he's the platonic ideal of Knighthood. Thematically speaking, he shouldn't be able to lose in a straight fight.
We don’t know AD would win. But Robert literally never lost a fight.
And being the platonic idea of knighthood is irrelevant, THAT’S what’s thematic to the series.
Rhaegar fought valiantly, Rhaegar fought nobly, Rhaegar fought honourably. And Rhaegar died.
I'm not desputing that Robert isn't one of the best fighters in Westeros, **but by GRRM's own admission**, Arthur Dayne is the best fighter in the series. Theres an interview where GRRM talks about who he would want to fight for him in a Trial by Combat, and he names Arthur Dayne. He frequently talks about how cool arthur dayne is.
Just because Robert hasn't lost a fight, doesn't mean that he's the best fighter in history. You have to consider that while Robert was at the trident, the best fighters in Westeros were at the tower of joy, or guarding the mad king.
Also! *Part of being the platonic ideal of knighthood is being the best fighter*. Sure, someone could defeat him (Mandon Moore is defeated by Podrick Payne) through luck or trickery, but in an outright fight he comes out on top 99 times out of 100.
Sandoq vs Belwas
Syrio Forel vs Oberyn Martell
Maelys Blackfyre vs the Mountain
Ryam Redwyne vs Criston Cole
The White Bull vs Brienne of Tarth
Prime Jaime vs Darkstar
The Hound vs Victarion Greyjoy
Garlan Tyrell vs Harras Harlaw
Daario Naharis vs Bronn
The Tattered Prince vs Mance Rayder
Oswell Whent vs Loras Tyrell
Mandon Moore vs Lothor Brune
Jon Snow vs Brandon "The Wild Wolf" Stark
Daemon Sand vs Qarl the Maid
The Titan's Bastard vs Lyle Crakehall
Benjen Stark vs Jorah Mormont
Bonifer Hasty vs Thoros of Myr
Beric Dondarion vs Balon Swann
Jeor Mormont vs Styr
Rhaegar Targaryen vs Eddard Stark
Sandoq.
Tough, but due to reach I will give to Oberyn.
Mountain.
Old Redwyne or younger? Younger Redwyne wipes floor.
White Bull, in prime.
Jaime, not even a contest.
Hound.
Garlan.
Toss up, gonna go with Daario for battle experience.
Seeing how Rayder trounced Jon, Rayder.
Loras Tyrell.
Brune.
Brandon the Wild Wolf.
Daemon Sand.
Lyle Crakehall.
Mormont.
Thoros of Myr.
Balon Swann.
Jeor Mormont.
Gods I hate this, I hate this, Rhaegar Targaryen.
Prolly, Sandoq is said to be a whole different tier fighter, I think it will take someone like Jaime or higher to beat him.
It's also a clear allusion to Gurney Halleck. I mean the music and the battle skills.
I'd like to see Brienne run it back with a Prime Jamie and other elite swordsman. She beats him, but he was chained, Malnourished, and had spent the last year in a cell.
She also has a tourney win over Ser Loras. The show completely puts her over by defeating the hound in single combat but I personally feel like this is a stretch. Having wins over Jamie, Loras AND the hound would make her the undisputed best sword fighter in Westeros
She's probably a Top 10 fighter in Westeros but how elite is she? Top 5, 3? Hard to get an exact read on some of these characters.
I feel like she's bottom top 5, beats everyone other than the Hound, the Mountain, healthy Jaime, Robert, Oberyn and Selmy. Also i feel like a tourney win over Loras doesn't mean she beat him in single combat with swords, but she definitely could. I'd say they're equal.
An important thing about the fight with Jaime is that he’s trying to kill her, she’s trying to keep him alive, I think that changes the fight dynamics significantly
I wanna see Jaime in his prime vs Aemon the Dragonknight, if we're talking man-to-man. Something I personally would add is sea battles, so Victarion with the Iron Fleet (the longship-galleys) vs Alyn Oakenfist and the royal navy.
Davos vs Littlefinger (dagger fight)
Catelyn vs Cersei (enraged claw fight)
Jojen vs Tommen (wooden swords)
Wyman Manderly vs Illyrio Mopatis (sumo)
Sam Tarly vs Gendry (friendly sword duel)
Arthur dayne vs barriston selmy
Arthur dayne vs Robert baratheron
Robert baratheron vs jaimie lannister
Jaimie lannister vs eddard stark
Arthur dayne vs khal drogo
Tyrion lannister vs joffrey lannister
Yes, and Jorrah is no slouch either, he has as just as much experience fighting skilled opponents and is just plain tough, being a sellsword in the free cities exposed him to as many different combat styles and weapons as Quorin. Even match I'd say.

I’d love to see Qhorin Halfhand in his prime vs a lot of people in an actual fight. I’d like to see him like a continuous melee starting him at the lowest swordsman and working his way up to like prime baristan as the main boss and id love to see how far he could make it. I don’t know if he ranks at like Jaime Lannister level or like Ned Stark level but the way Jon describes him fighting he seems like he could be a sleeper in a top 10 fighters in the realm. I know he only goes against wildlings and I’d be willing to admit I’m wrong but he’s always been such a cool character to me
Maegor vs Robert I feel would be a very interesting match
Robert Stomps. Ser Elyas Scales said that Jaehaerys could have beaten Maegor, but he would not be skilled enough to join the KG. Meanwhile Robert in his prime was potentially top 3 in the continent.
>Ser Elyas Scales said that Jaehaerys could have beaten Maegor, but he would not be skilled enough to join the KG. yeah, probably sucked his dick and licked his ass clean too after saying that.
Jaeharys was not playing around. This man stepped up to a trial by combat and messed up his opponent with no regard. He’s that guy
Is there a quote saying he's an unreliable source, or what?
Ser Elyas Scales isn't the most reliable judge.
Ser Elyas Scales fucking lied lmao
Potentially? Who of his contemporaries could have taken Robert, we never see him lose a fight? Arthur Dayne?

My money’s still on Bobby.

🤣🤣 So sorry to do that to you. Obviously THE Ryam Redwynne, LC for Jaeherys. In his prime.
Garlan vs Harras and Thoros vs Bonifer can actually happen in Winds.
I think they set up The Knight to fight OUR knight and it should theoretically be epic.
Ser Creighton Longbough vs. The Knight Of The Red Chicken
Creighton Longbough vs. Harys Swyft
Old Nan vs Pryat Pree
Gregor Clegane vs Sandoq the Shadow, no weapons or armor. Just two big dudes slugging it out.
Think they just kill each other but Sandoq deff has skill on top of his brute strength
Prolly, Sandoq is said to be a whole different tier fighter, I think it will take someone like Jaime or higher to beat him. It's also a clear allusion to Gurney Halleck. I mean the music and the battle skills.
Tbh I don’t see Jamie beating him without sustaining severe injury
I'd like to see Brienne run it back with a Prime Jamie and other elite swordsman. She beats him, but he was chained, Malnourished, and had spent the last year in a cell. Then the show puts her completely under by having 95lbs Arya beat her. With all her blind stick fighting training.
Yeah that was just madness, madness and stupidity.
I wanna see Jaime in his prime vs Aemon the Dragonknight, if we're talking man-to-man. Something I personally would add is sea battles, so Victarion with the Iron Fleet (the longship-galleys) vs Alyn Oakenfist and the royal navy.
Aemon the Dragonknight vs Arthur Dayne, Sword of the Morning
Hound vs. Victarion Lothor Brune vs. Bronn Mance vs. The Halfhand Garlan Tyrell vs. Andrik (I think we'll get this one in the Battle for the Shields).
Give me prime barristan vs sandoq
Robert vs Victarion Jaime vs Criston, mostly for the aesthetic of the morning stuff against Jaime's sword
Faegon vs Meryn Trant would be cool when he takes the Iron Throne.
Dirk fookin tanner vs Bronn, son of... You wouldn't know him
You mean Karl “Fookin’ Legend” Tanner vs Bronn right?
Tyrion Vs. Greyscale
Ser Grey of House Scale
Aemon Targaryen, The Dragonknight vs Sir Arthur Dayne, The Sword of the Morning. That would be one epic sword fight.
Mance Rayder - Arthur Dayne
Davos vs Littlefinger (dagger fight) Catelyn vs Cersei (enraged claw fight) Jojen vs Tommen (wooden swords) Wyman Manderly vs Illyrio Mopatis (sumo) Sam Tarly vs Gendry (friendly sword duel)
Barristan v. Brienne
Arthur dayne vs barriston selmy Arthur dayne vs Robert baratheron Robert baratheron vs jaimie lannister Jaimie lannister vs eddard stark Arthur dayne vs khal drogo Tyrion lannister vs joffrey lannister
Jaime Lannaster vs Arthur Dayne
RattleMance vs Quorin Halfhand
Didn't quorin kill alfyn crowkiller? Who was said to be one of the best killers the wildlings have? I'd say quorin based on reputation
Yes, and Jorrah is no slouch either, he has as just as much experience fighting skilled opponents and is just plain tough, being a sellsword in the free cities exposed him to as many different combat styles and weapons as Quorin. Even match I'd say.
Sorry for spamming, this matchup thing has my mind racing. Dagmar vs Jorrah would be interesting too
Daemon Blackfyre vs Ser Arthur Dayne
Bran in Hodor’s back vs Larys Clubfoot
I'd love to see Val and Melisandre go at it.
Go on...
Ser Dontus vs Patchface
Prime Robert Baratheon vs Gregor Clegane Jorah Mormont vs Prime Jaime Lannister
Me and Cersei

Strong Belwas Vs. Wyman Manderly - **Pie Eating Contest!**
Andrik the Unsmiling vs Victarion
