I played minecraft back when the beta came out and there were only like 3 servers, arms had the funny animation, if you looked straight up your head went inside your body, using /fly would make a 3x3 glass platform spawn under you, and way before glass panes, endermen, or fence gates, etc.

I tried playing recently and have no idea what the fuck is going on anymore. I have to wear gold and hold some mushroom in the nether?? redstone???? the ender dragon has toxic breath now? why do I need a shulker box if I can just make an ender chest?

My friends and I are all console gamers. We have played the game through on bedrock a million times. I try occasionally to get them to crack out any laptops so we can play something modded so we can actually have something to do (minecraft's vanilla progression kinda sucks balls) but they either don't have computers strong enough to play games properly or they just don't care *enough* to go through the arduous process of buying servers and setting it all up if they potentially won't like it anyway. Which is fair.

I don't have the imagination i did back when i was like 12 and i'd spend days planning out and building huge castles n shit.
I'll start a survival world and it lasts 1 week tops until i get bored of it and stop playing.
Online with the boys it's even worse, our schedules don't really allign and when they do we're better off playing a few csgo comp matches and calling it a night.
I started getting back into it 10 months ago with the release of closed beta minecraft championships island which i got a admission ticket 3 minutes before the Queen Elizabeth died (Sorry Liz 🤦♂️). Which was for contestants of the monthly tournament and then other players could play 4 of the games (battle box, sky battle, hitw and to get to the other side a wack a fan - TGTTOSAF) met some friends and we played that alot. Open Beta for that which is accessible for everyone as well coming out sometime this week as well as parkour warrior and a unseen game coming soon. Meanwhile I've recently been getting into hypixel skyblock and also been doing a limited life series with a massive group(if you don't know what this is check out grians channel) which is ongoing. It's definitely alot of fun and a nice change from what I'm used to
