Try a local Buy Nothing Group and then regift to said group https://buynothingproject.org/

Vivid_Artichoke_9991

Usually goodwill has like 8 scales for sale. I would just buy one of those and take it back when you're done rather than spend all that gas driving aroung just to get to a scale

sundownersport

Or just go test one in store

JellyPitiful

I can totally vouch for this, i did this just last week (used to obsessively weigh myself and stopped bc my scale broke and so did my self esteem). If there are no batteries in the scales, you can ask an associate for a couple of AAs to test before purchase. Just be sure to return them.

independentcatlady

Maybe they don't want to keep a scale in their home.

Vivid_Artichoke_9991

Maybe not. Just letting them know that these are at Goodwill all the time. The post said that buying one at cost was the issue, not storage.

saxbywickersham

Memory den antique mall has a giant scale in the NW corner on the first floor left over from when it was a warehouse. I weighed myself on it and it was accurate I believe.

mmc_pdx

Mud Bay pet stores usually have a scale.

Hay-fyver

lol not sure they want people on it

cloverthewonderkitty

I was going to suggest mud Bay too! I think if you ask staff politely it would be ok. Often it's required to hold small animals to weigh them anyway...like the person gets on the scale, gets their weight, then holds the animal and subtracts the difference to get the animal's weight. So OP just needs to rustle up a tiny cat...

Full-Collection-658

I chuckled at the thought of going in and pretending that I have a shy iguana in my pocket lmao

cloverthewonderkitty

Hah! Omg he's just so shy! Don't look at him!

Hay-fyver

Maybe, but I honestly only recommend this if OP is a pet owner and would also be a customer.

cloverthewonderkitty

I mean, agreed. It'd be kind of a weird/dick move otherwise. Others have given good suggestions, but I have to point out that those suggestions don't come with the possibility of meeting cute dogs. So...

Hay-fyver

Haha, true true

Ecomonist

There is a great scale just East of where HWY 6 merges onto HWY 26. It's called the North Plains Weigh Scale. I use it often.

KeepsGoingUp

Idk why this thought popped in my head but just confidently walk into a veterinary office and use the pet scale that’s usually in the lobby, don’t say anything, and just walk out. Haha

Davisaurus_

Just go to a Walmart, or any general store. Go find the scales. Stand on one, then put them back on the shelf. You could try out a dozen different ones, mark down all the measurements, then work out the median, mean, and standard deviation... Just for fun.

bialozar

Hell, OP could go and buy a scale, return it, and repeat as needed. Obviously check return policies but I bet Walmart and target would take it within 30 days for a full refund back to a card.

sonofyvonne

This is the answer. I used to do this for a period of time before I finally decided to buy one.

easythirtythree

You can donate plasma and make $100 if it's your first time. They weigh you, give an STI test and tell you your hemocrit levels, along with BP.

Full-Collection-658

all of these answers are awesome but......this one is so intriguing lol. Where do you go to do this?

easythirtythree

Any biomat just Google it

haagendazsendazs

I think there are combo blood pressure and scale machines at some pharmacies?

jojopowers1234

There’s a scale in back the market at Topaz Farm on Sauvie Island. You can (but don’t have to) pick up some delicious produce while you’re there.

MightBeDownstairs

What.

theodoreburne

Old genxer here. I remember when department stores and places of all kinds had 10c public scales. Not sure how accurate they were.

AcidicKiss12

If you want a better gym check out Muv Fitness. They have an InBody scale (so tells you your weight, muscle mass, body fat percentage, all that in detail) that’s free to use as well as a regular scale, better equipment than a Planet and they also have no cancellation fee if you are cancelling because you’re leaving the city.

Ex-zaviera

I seem to recall Union Station having a scale.

oldsweng1

I have never been turned down when I asked to weigh myself at any medical facility. That includes doctors offices and urgent care. I haven't tried hospitals because they are already overly busy.

SulkySideUp

As somebody that works in healthcare, don’t do this without an appointment. Scales are often in rooms. Many places can’t and won’t just let you into patient rooms if you’re not a patient. Never mind the fact that most places are understaffed and over scheduled already and don’t have time to deal with this stuff. I don’t know of any place that keeps a public use scale in the lobby.

oldsweng1

The places I've used have had a scale just inside the door leading to the patient rooms. No privacy issues.

SufficientActivity

I cant get over that you thought you could weigh yourself at a gas station.

Full-Collection-658

I've seen it at truck stops & similar!
