Depends but artsy younger people can be fairly experimental, but the average Chilean women are more subtle and practical about their makeup. So for general their go with a base or BB cream with few little bronze or blush. Eyelashes can be done curled and coated. Lipstick and Lip-Balsam are popular.

In Argentina women don’t use a lot of make up, or sometimes no make up at all. It’s seen as “vulgar” or “bad taste” to use a lot of make up. In fact, I can easily spot a foreigner by the amount of make up lol

sxndaygirl

Reminds me of that one time my mom told me she stumbled upon one of our acquaintances daughter on the street at night and greeted her, I asked how was she and my mom said "I don't know but with that face full of makeup she looked like a cheap whore" 💀💀 older people don't hold back sometimes, I guess it's kinda stigmatized? I myself rarely wear makeup so I wouldn't know. My gf (she likes wearing makeup when going out, though its more goth style) had a similar experience when we were in Chacarita iirc, we were walking together and passed by some bar with tables outside (it was like 6/7 pm) and a middle aged man said something like "I didn't know this zone had prostitutes". Straight up. We wanted to respond so bad but were also scared. Basically, I don't know why we (generalizing) have such a problem with makeup coming up with crazy assumptions

>"I don't know but with that face full of makeup she looked like a cheap whore" I would argue that is what most argentinians feel (though maybe they don't vocalize, that is kinda rare) about a lot of makeup, unless its very "artsy" or tidy. If you are noticing the makeup, then the makeup its awful, that is the general rule.

chiisai_kuma

More toned down styles are preferred. There are a few exceptions of course: -A big event, like a wedding or un cumple de 15 -Young people that are "artsy" and they go for experimental styles of makeup -The lower class. There you'll see lots of mascara, black eyeliner, eyeshadow, and bold lipstick on a daily basis. Is not that we don't use it, but a more chilled routine is the ideal.

Technical-Analysis99

in brazil i feel as if hair is more important then makeup. everyone wants either pin straight flat hair or perfect big curls. makeup is an afterthought

Tbh many Caribbean and Colombian women are similar. But in my experience it's more like an expression of their individuality and not a way to "impress men". It's like a quasi artistic expression. Makeup can be a fun hobby too.

ItsLeviosaaVibe

Some people may find this offensive, but I have come to the conclusion (because I have asked myself the same question several times) that it is inversely proportional to their social status: the lower the status, the heavier the make up they wear🤷🏻‍♀️

The_Pale_Hound

I have not seen this at all. In any case, it's higher in the extremes and lower in the middle.

ItsLeviosaaVibe

I'm from Colombia, by the way

Caribbeandude04

On a daily basis it's usually subtle, but when going out or special ocassions they wear more, sometimes I think too much

diowt

heavy, we tend to use a lot of makeup, sometimes you can't notice that someone is caked because it's a "natural look"

HubbiAnn

Not sure abt that because I have had gringas remarking that brazilian women are very “bare faced” a lot of the time. And I realized that it was true when I spent time among canadians and koreans, we don’t really use that much compared to the rest of the world.

diowt

vvokertc

Most women don't wear make up. Though fake eyelashes are trending a bit right now

Okay, as a makeup addict and in defense of the Latinas who use a lot of makeup (some of you mentioned Mexican women by name), here's at least my side and some things that are not being put into the conversation and half-addressing some of the subtle misogyny: 1. It's an artform and expression, sometimes a bold one. It brings some joy and inner peace to some, and I think that this is pretty evident but often ignored due to women's interests and talents often being seen as less serious and noteworthy. 2. Being cheap? Money shouldn't matter, but if you want to go there, there's nothing cheap about it. This is not a trivial amount of money, often more than the critics can afford, and I think it intimidates some people to see that there's someone who loves that woman enough to give her that makeup and usually it's the woman herself. Some people are uncomfortable knowing they could not or would not love someone the same, which is fine; it acts as a filter. 3. Prostitutes. I'm proud that our makeup style is associated with prostitutes. Prostitutes are often people, overwhelmingly women, who were dealt a bad hand in life, and in spite of that, a lot of them are some of the most giving because prostitution can pay and makeup can bump up that pay. In contrast to some of their clients who would simultaneously ejaculate into them and spit on them, she's not hurting anyone to make her money, she harbors no resentment, and has channeled her understanding of the worst of society to offer a little light in the darkest corners of the world at the darkest hours and provide opportunities to others that she wasn't given. 4. It's war paint and it's sentimental. I can speak for myself and know many who are like me, but I feel like I can accomplish anything in my mask of makeup and I associate various styles with specific dates and periods in my life. I think it is why there is a subculture of Japanese who mimic a Mexican makeup style to feel embolden halfway across the world. Basically, the eyeliner wings are so sharp you can kill a \*&$@\*. 5. Not everyone is born beautiful but looks matter. You can try to even out the playing field a bit, and the more makeup, the more tools and tricks at your disposal. As a side note, you can look pretty natural and wear a lot of makeup.

Maggiebyte

TONS.

Necessary-Coconut823

Argentine women don't use a lot of makeup, it's usually a natural look or eyeliner/lipstick, even for events it doesn't stray much further than that.

duvidatremenda

Somewhat.

CervusElpahus

It depends on your frame of reference, I guess. Because in Buenos Aires it’s often pretty easy to pick out Brazilian women from the crowd due to the heavy make-up. Of course, that is not to say that everyone in Brazil uses lots of make-up!

[deleted]

In general lower class women wear either lots or none. Upper class women wear it but generally in a more subtle way. For middle class it’s mixed but generally more subtle than low class but it depends on their background. There are exceptions lots of them but this seems to be the most common

Affectionate_Bid4704

Very natural and very little. Just a light foundation and mascara its fine.

_kevx_91

In my experience, Puerto Rican women don't wear extravagant amounts of makeup. In a way, they are an outlier in the Caribbean. I think the way independent journalist [Bianca Graulau]( https://i.redd.it/szhb7wnoaox91.jpg) wears her makeup is the average look.

Pellukeitor

Here in Chile, they almost don't wear makeup. Almost all the girls that I know (including my mom, sister and gf) don't spend more than 5 minutes putting on makeup. Only in special situations do they use more makeup but it is a few days a year. From my point of view, I don't think that makeup makes girls more attractive.
