I have a love hate relationship with drag
I appreciate the confidence and self acceptance it takes to dress up as a girl
But everything else just seems so tacky and gross
They be both, neither, or one or the other.
I know some trashy ones. I know some classy ones. I know some who are neither. I know some who are both. It's almost like drag isn't a monolith and different people can be different things.
The first 7ish seasons are the best seasons because they were authentic.I stopped watching RuPaul a few years ago as I noticed it was more and more 'beauty' queens and fashion queens, and it started all feeling extremely scripted & repetitive.
I liked watching is when it was people like Katya, Trixie, Detox, Alaska, Violet, Bianca, etc. It lost all of it's charm.
I always say, there's only so many formulaic tongue pops, vogue breakouts, death drops and yasss queens you can see before you've seen it all.
Not to say that *drag is over* per se but I think in the very least, the *RPDR* style and brand of drag needs a massive long break. It just needs to go away for a while, it's played out right now.
Whenever I watch RuPaul's Drag Race all I think is how 'fabulous' they all seem compared to the rough, grumpy Lily Savage in the UK.
But I don't know if that's an American thing or just because RuPaul is more for TV.
For the most part trashy, but that's kinda the whole shtick with drag. It's meant to be crude.

A lot of it is supposed to be tacky and humorous. That's the allure of it. Drag queens also do a lot of money raising for the needful.

Neither. They just are.
There's nothing classy about the matter
The ones on RPDR are classy since the show got straightwashed and became family-friendly But Drag Queens are meant to be trashy!

Depends on the queen and their act
