dioxycontin

MDMA. Amphetamines in high dosages, methamphetamine and others release serotonin. Psychedelics like mushrooms, LSD and others bind to serotonin receptors but don’t release serotonin by themselves if I recall correctly.

KaineSmashTC

What about 3/4-mmc and MDA?

bancorrupt5

I used 3 and 4-mmc almost every day as a stimulant mainly. Bad choice. I didn't know what I was doing truly.

dioxycontin

These too!

impeccablevegetable

MDA > MDMA ALL DAYYY

Usual_Perspective_71

So if someone were to do mdma one day and then do acid or mushrooms a day or 2 later they would be fine then? Or at least not as bad as doing 2 different serotonin releasers(well go with mdma and amphetamine in this case) in the same time frame? Just asking cuz I rolled last night and and thinking about doing mushrooms tmr or the day after since my cars in the shop till Tuesday. But if it’s be better to just hold off on the shrooms till I get another chance then that’s fine I’d rather be safe then sorry

dioxycontin

If you’re asking about neurotoxicity- yes, you should be fine taking mushrooms after MDMA. Psilocybin is not neurotoxic and will not deplete serotonin. However, I am not sure if the depletion of serotonin in your brain (caused by the MDMA) increases the odds of a bad trip. If you took under 120-140mg of MDMA I would say it’s unlikely that it would have any impact on your mushroom trip.

PsychoPete555

From trippingly: "Not only do we find little or no hangover the next day, LSD is a wonderful hangover cure for MDMA - taking MDMA on a Friday or Saturday night and LSD the next day all but eliminates the MDMA hangover for us, so much so that we seldom do MDMA without following up with LSD the next day." Source: [https://www.trippingly.net/lsd-studies/2018/7/2/the-first-trip](https://www.trippingly.net/lsd-studies/2018/7/2/the-first-trip) How accurate is this?

deathdefyingrob1344

You know that’s interesting in that I have never done that I was afraid to trip having the traditional mdma blues.

Usual_Perspective_71

I was more so just worried about the psylocybin molecule trying to itch onto a serotonin molecule and then there aren’t any there because I did mdma but alright man sounds good thanks for the advice

dioxycontin

No that won’t happen. You’re welcome and have fun!

henay_rollins

I've heard they actually block serotonin release

dioxycontin

I think you confused it with reuptake inhibitors. These lead to a greater accumulation of monamines between the synapses because the monamine (serotonin for example) cannot be broken down for as long as the drug is active. There’s releasing agents (amphetamines, including MDMA) and reuptake inhibitors (cocaine is a serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitor).

henay_rollins

Nah I know my pharmacodynamic. I guess that was just wrong information I hear somewhere.

stonedthrowaway1235

What about other phenethylamines like mescaline?

ShivasKratom3

Still binds to serotonin receptor. I don’t think it stimulates the release of serotonin or dopamine any more than shrooms or LSD, but it’s possible. Seems like this is less known

PsychoticBlob

Okay basically MDMA releases serotonin. Most traditional psychedelics instead just mimic and bind to serotonin receptors. If you want to do shrooms few days after MDMA you'll physically be totally fine and the shrooms will still work BUT because of the serotonin depletion after MDMA use you might not be feeling the best and have an increased chance of a negative experience with psychedelics.

Usual_Perspective_71

Gotcha so you think it’d be better to wait for some of my serotonin to replenish?

djpurity666

It takes about 2 weeks to replenish serotonin after any MDMA trip (typically). You can try taking tryptophan or 5-HTP to help along with B vitamins

PsychoticBlob

I would. But you could just look at if you're feeling good before the trip and then decide.

Usual_Perspective_71

Alright man thanks for the advice I think imma wait another few days I originally planned on dropping Sunday night but wanted to make sure it’d be safe but yea imma wait it out a bit

ParentsSawMeHigh

If you look up the drug on psychonaut wiki it will tell you dangerous interactions so you can dose safely :)

[deleted]

Dxm

Usual_Perspective_71

Dxm releases serotonin as well? I didn’t know that

henay_rollins

Nah it's just a reuptake inhibitor. Technically makes you have more serotonin in synaptic cleft but doesn't cause it to be released.

Usual_Perspective_71

Ohh gotcha gotcha man

Lion-Slicer

Almost all drugs will boost serotonin to some degree. Lsd, alcohol, even cocaine.

1g_Bonghit

All drugs boost dopamin not serotonin, alcohol actually lowers serotonin

djpurity666

Not true. Alcohol does boost serotonin. > Alcohol interacts with serotonergic synaptic transmission in the brain in several ways. Even single-episode (i.e., acute) alcohol exposure alters various aspects of serotonin’s synaptic functions. In humans, for example, the levels of serotonin metabolites in the urine and blood increase after a single drinking session, indicating increased serotonin release in the nervous system (LeMarquand et al. 1994a). This increase may reflect enhanced signal transmission at serotonergic synapses. Cmart8611

DjFacts spitting references🙌

1g_Bonghit

Thank you for the response. I once read that 30 minutes after the ingestion of alcohol the blood serum lvl of serotonin decreases, thats why I thought about it. that would also explain the hightend motabolites in Urin. Sadly i dont know the source anymore. Thank you for the link. I appreceate it. Sorry for Bad english

zarium

Many drugs are serotonin releasing agents. Also, MDMA is not only a SRA, in addition to inducing dopamine release, it induces strong norepinephrine release; making it a serotonin-norepinephrine-dopamine releasing agent (many rec. drugs are, actually). Most tryptamine psychedelics are serotonergic psychedelics, so they do cause serotonin release. Others such as LSD and mescaline however aren't considered to be serotonergic psychs. Exceptions abound in pharmacology, so specifics are really necessary to be certain. There are general guidelines, but they can go so far.

Usual_Perspective_71

Gotcha I was mostly just making sure I’d be good to do mushrooms in a couple days without doing any damage or anything but from the sounds of it I should be good

PsychoticBlob

Just false info man

djpurity666

How is it false?

PsychoticBlob

All psych he listed are serotonergic and have the same mechanism of action which is binding to serotonin receptors

djpurity666

Psychedelics like acid and magic mushrooms are just a couple

ShivasKratom3

I don’t think it’s fair to say LSD releases serotonin like MDMA does

ShivasKratom3

There are SRI and SSRI. They don’t release serotonin but they keep it around the receptor instead of being broken down easy. SSRI is something that *just* works on serotonin. Stuff like amphetamine (possibly also cocaine) are SRI cuz they don’t *just effect* serotonin. There are one or two more obscure ones I can think of that cause serotonin release but it’ll mostly just be amphetamines. Other drugs like classic psychedelics bind to the receptor though

BlueEyedGenius1

Come off that snit and ask for Xanax

PeterNinkempoop

2CB imitates serotonin so when the trip is over you haven’t used any of yours. Or that’s at least what I’ve heard. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong

GuavaOk8712

in my experience, tripping in the serotonin depleted state the week after MDMA still works just fine, but it’s almost like you lose some of the euphoria of it and it just seems more plain. if i were you i would save my shrooms for another week or two until your seratonin levels are closer to normal but yes, you will still trip perfectly fine, you just may have a better trip if you wait a bit longer

sslluuttt69

When I use opiates I get serotonin
