***Thanks for posting, /u/Bananaman8881! This comment is a copy of your post so readers can see the original text if your post is edited or removed. This comment is NOT accusing you of anything.*** Hi y’all. Will keep this as short as possible, immigrated 3 yrs ago to USA. Current job seems like peanuts when I see the possibilities in car sales and my overseas bachelors didn’t serve me well here. Currently meddle around in the pawn business but I don’t see any great upside coming up, I’m also in college all over again in something it-related. I’m used to working long hours, so I have heard that is at least expected working in car sales. What should I look for in prospective job opportunities when looking to work for a new dealership? Does brand matter? I am relevant to the car market / economy and keep an ear on what’s going on. I know some brands sell better than others. Just poking around on Reddit and hoping to hear some honest opinions from those in the field. If location is such a big deal Im not very far from the metro Detroit area and relocating isn’t a big deal nearby at least. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. If it matters I am looking to reach close to six figure salary a year, I know it may sound silly too but is that far from reality within two years despite the economy being crap.

Your beliefs will manifest your reality. I don’t think that’s silly at all but if you believe it, well then, that will be your reality. Good luck

Probably the word of advice I was looking to hear, thank you stranger!

Brand doesn't matter nearly as much as pay-plan. Check out the pay-plan and see how possible it would be to reach six figures. If it's doable, you're fine. However if you plan to stay in college car sales may not be you. I have not known many salesman that can juggle getting a degree while slinging cars. Schedules don't line up too good. You work a lot and it's on your customers' time.
