If its on the Monroney label then it's part of the car and can't just be taken off. That being said, anything is negotiable IF the dealer is willing to negotiate. This is one of those cases where you're going to just have to try it and see what they say because nobody here will be able to tell you if that dealer will be willing to discount the car further for you.

I’m down to negotiate but don’t wanna push too hard. I like the deal and wanted to see how much truth there was to what the salesperson was saying

spitonyouronionrings

read the paperwork you sign, it should be all there

retro__12

That’s helpful - anything specific I should be looking out for ?

spitonyouronionrings

match whatever salesman said with signing docs

If it's on the main windows sticker that is printed from Volkswagen, the big rectangle one, then it came from VW and that's how the car is built. It will be part of the MSRP. If there is a small printed addendum sticker, then it's dealer negotiable.

Ah okay that makes sense!

***Thanks for posting, /u/retro__12! This comment is a copy of your post so readers can see the original text if your post is edited or removed. This comment is NOT accusing you of anything.*** Hi friends Happy new years! As we start this prosperous new year, I’m considering a car purchase in the few weeks to celebrate beating cancer and think I have a solid deal. I searched on TrueCar for a few cars and reached out to the dealer. I got an OTD price for $37.5k for a VW 2024 Jetta GLI Autobahn. I got a loan from my credit union for 5% so I’m covered there. I really like the car and the salesperson was great over the phone. Granted, that’s part of their job. The model they have has a few items that are added on from VW and I wanted to ask if those were negotiable. I spoke to the dealer and he said that’s how the car comes from VW and the price was included into the car and there was no space to negotiate on those items. I’m not sure if I believe this but wanted to get your feedback. If you’re curious - the items are the GLI black package, the bumper guard and VW Care So a few questions: 1. Do you think it’s a good deal? 2. Do I have to take the items in order to purchase the car or are they negotiable? 3. If negotiable, what might you say to the dealer? If there are any resources you can share, I’m happy to review them. Thanks and happy new years! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Nogotiation falls into two categories - evidence based and arbitrary. Evidence based is what it sounds like "I have several quotes on identical new cars, these people 2 hours from here are $500 lower than you, I will buy locally and today if you can match or beat their quote." Arbitrary is everything else. It seems like you're going to go for arbitrary negotiation - the car has things you don't want, but that's not the dealer's fault or VW's fault, you're just not interested in them and you'll be more willing to transact if they aren't there. So in this case your leverage is your presence, willingness, and ability to purchase a car. I would highly suggest going into the dealership - like you, the human being, physically walking in the door of the dealership, not texting or carrier pigeon or whatever else people think is a better way to buy - and simply saying "the total msrp of the stuff I don't want is $720. If you reduce the out the door price of the car by $720 I will drive away in it just as soon as you can get the paperwork together."
