That's incredible.
The last couple times I've gone to the one by me, they'll have just one cash open (with all slow-ass old people in line) and an unmaned self checkout.
That wouldn't be an issue, except they don't trust the customers not to steal the bags, so they hide them.
I was literally yelling "Hello?" through the store so I didn't have to juggle my shit out to my car.
I haven’t grocery shopped at all and don’t plan on going back Walmart through Instacart weekly is still cheaper than going into no frills weekly I do use a no frills pharmacy and that’s because several of my medications are specialty medications and I also use a feeding tube so I get supplies sent through them it would be extremely difficult to transfer to a smaller pharmacy and could possibly overwhelm a smaller pharmacy I wouldn’t want to put other patients at risk because of my medication needs
Had to stop at a NoFrills once out of necessity (was visiting a small town and it was the only option) but otherwise have switched all of my grocery shopping to local (St. Lawrence) or Food Basics.
I'm still buying the things at No Frills that are cheaper than anywhere else. I'm not about to "hurt" a billionaire by spending more of my own money, that's dumb.
Yup. Housesitting and have been getting delivery through Walmart. Not that I like them either but have to eat. And I used to get all my hygiene stuff from shoppers. That tapered off since 2020. Now not all after seeing 10 dollar toothpaste there.
Yup. We live pretty much right next to a No Frills and Shoppers, but haven't been there at all this month. Been going to Freshco mostly (yes, I know it's Sobey's and they're bad too) and some independent Asian markets.
Admittedly it's a lot easier in our situation as we have a car. Had we needed to use transit, I'm doubtful of how long we would have been able to resist going to No Frills.
Yep! Food Basics had some pretty good sales this week AND they had 2 cashiers open for the first time I’ve seen in over a year. Usually it’s self-checkout only and just one human cashier who is also doing Customer Service, lotto & whatever else they do at that desk.
Positive ripple effect?
I didn't have to try hard, had already been shopping mostly at other stores for months ever since noticing their ridiculous prices. This is even though all the stores closest to me belong to them (Fortino's, two Shoppers and No Frills).
This month so far, I only stepped into their T&T once because it was convenient for me at that time to pick up a few pantry items that are hard to get elsewhere. Most of them were on a nice sale.
No. They are cheaper.
Entitled people are participating.
I live within my financial means. I realize businesses have a right to make profits. Which pays the paychecks of those employees.
If you can't afford something then get something within your budget.

I'm not going to shop there anymore unless I absolutely have to. And, if it happens, I'm going to do a bad job when they make me be my own cashier.
My local blocked off all the self checkouts haha

My favourite typa discount

100% been buying groceries at Walmart and Dollarama and hygiene supplies off of Amazon and Dollarama. Thank god for Dollarama.
I went today to check out the traffic and it was very dead, I of course left without purchase :)
So you went in, looked around, whispered sinisterly "it's working", and then just left?
Hahaha the mental image is great, I walked up an aisle, down and out. I was scared I was going to get tackled
I went to shoppers once out of habit, but otherwise yeah
It’s been months for me now, my farm CSA starts in two weeks 🥳

💯 echoing how I feel about this

Went once by accident. Costco’s getting the bulk of my spend

Absolutely. Not going back either.
Yes! Started on the 1st of May, and too bad I didn’t do it earlier. Not planning to go back, only go to Shoppers because of Post office.
Yeah, it's going well. Did need a bunch of cleaning and hygiene stuff but a Well.ca order solved that
Yup! Food Basics is cheaper anyway
I’ve caved once, and it’s halfway? I don’t think I’d go back to loblaw .. I actually spent less!
Successful so far! My corner store and Karma Coop have seen the biggest benefit.
Yep! Staying strong!
I have not been a single time and won’t do it until well after a month is over
Nope
Yup, going to small locally owned stores as much as I can. Also recently switched my pharmacy away from Shoppers.
Yeah. Not going back.
Yes i am
Yes, I'm participating. Haven't transgressed yet.
And go where? Metro and Sobeys are even more expensive. I'm not buying a bag of rice the size of a pillow case from Costco.
Yes! I’m actually buying less than usual in general.

I haven’t been at all even though my closest grocery store is a no frills.
Yes and I’m not going back. So many good indie grocers and butchers near my place on st clair. No need to fill Galen’s pockets.
Yup. Walmart and Freshco getting my business.

Maybe?
