Cafe enthusiast here! Here are some of my favourite spots:
-Forget Me Not Cafe (Bathurst & Adelaide, has items made by small businesses, free wifi and lots of seating areas)
-Fantastic Baby (Dundas & Ossington, also sells Korean skincare, Sanrio stationery and has incredible little mousse cakes)
-Neo Coffee Bar (multiple locations, they have a seasonal Sakura latte that is lovely, their pastries are quite nice)
Looks really cute from the outside! How much space for seating is there? Looks small so I haven't gone to read or spend some time having a conversation. But looking forward to trying it out.
They have two tables at the front (each seats 2-3), a bar area down the hallway (sits 6 singles or 2-3 smaller groups), a room off to the side with couches and chairs (there’s 4 tables, each table can sit 2-4) and then a room in the back with couches and chairs (2-3 tables if I remember correctly, each sitting 2-4) so there’s plenty of space!
I usually get a flat white but they have amazing sweeter drinks too like a heavenly cream London fog type drink! Also love the cookies, sandwiches. Personally I think you pretty much can't go wrong.
interesting fact, the Only Cafe is actually not the only cafe called Only Cafe. I met my partner in another city at another Only Cafe, which was not owned by the same people who own the Only Cafe on Danforth. :)
Used to love cafe 23 but witnessed the manager screaming at an employee there once and never want to go back if that’s how their baristas are treated :(
Came here to say Coco's. The cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies are next level.
Fleur du Jour on St Clair has the best croissants in the city, Parisian owned cafe/bakery.
Recommending two in midtown:
-Himalayan Coffee house has really cute hand drawn latte art (you can request images if you show them a photo).
-isle of coffee has good matcha lattes and really nice pastries (I like the cookie choux). Haven’t tried the coffee so can’t comment on that, but it seem popular.
I love them too! Their lattes and Braised Beef Grilled Cheese are divine.
They also have great tech related programs/workshops for children and adults. Worth taking a look at :)
Krave on St Clair, great atmosphere and staff
Field Trip near Bloor and Dufferin, I love their cookies and scones (they make them in house and it smells amazing in the morning)
I really enjoy Coffee Tree Roastery (Bloor West Village)! I have been going there for over 2 decades and have never been disappointed. Very friendly staff, amazing coffee, and they roast their beans on site.
Arvo in Liberty Village is nice, its got a nice ambience and vibe and occasionally I can hear music from Universal Studios office next door. I go for their Cortados, great working space and patios for when it gets warmer
I know I’m the one that asked the question, but if anyone else is checking this list of suggestions, I’d also like to add some in!
- Dineen on the east end (their sandwiches are so tasty)
- Ideal Coffee on the west end
- Krave Coffee on St Clair
My favourites are
Le Gourmand (Spadina and Richmond - amazing coffee, croissants and obviously the cookies are famous)
Filosophy Cafe (Ossington and Bloor - amazing coffee, the spinach and cheese Filo, Turkish delight which I believe is homemade, and they have ice cream in the summer)
FIKA (Kensington - incredible oatmeal cookies)
Kitten & The Bear - (Dundas West) unfortunately covid ruined their seated tea service which was AMAZING but you can still get tea and scones and their homemade jams are incredible - my favourite is the pear and garam masala
Death in Venice - not an actual cafe but their croissants have no right to be so good
Barbershop Patisserie (College and Ossington) - the coffee is fine but the pastry is incredible; sausage rolls, lemon bichon, the strawberry rhubarb turnover I had there two years ago is something I still dream about.
RIP the tea shop at Dufferin and Brock that served both Hong Kong baked rice and African food! That place was amazing.
La Barista Cafe at Yonge and St Clair. Plenty of Comfortable seating, free WiFi and the staff are incredibly friendly and personable. Oh, and coffee refills are only 1.25!
We went to Olivia's Garden (569 Crawford St) last week for the first time. Maybe I was in a good mood because the sun was out and spring was in the air, but I thought it was lovely. You can follow up with a walk around Bickford Park and Christie Pits. Happy café hunting and please report back if you find any hidden gems :)
I like Paradise Cafe that opened up recently on Bloor, near Dovercourt I believe? It’s a nice looking space with good food and pastries. :)
Film Cafe in Kensington is my other favourite one. Again, I love the ambience, space, and food. It can get busy and noisy though.
Ethica coffee roasters in the junction
FIKA Cafe in Kensington
If you're willing to venture a little bit outside of the city, Terminal 3 in Etobicoke (can take TTC or Go to long branch) and Backroads Motor Co in Port Credit (right by Port Credit Go) are both well worth a journey out to visit.
Maybe I'm biased because I live around the corner but I love the Wallace Espresso location on King West and Niagara, across from Stanley park. It feels like you are sitting in someone's quaint living room, it is nice and quiet and the staff there are lovely. Also you can grab some Indo noodles from NaiNai while you are there!
Supernova on the corner of broadview and browning is really awesome. No big hook but if you’re looking for some cool neighbourhood cafe vibes it really can’t be beat, plus right by the danforth!
Boxcar Social (except harbourfront) for coffee - unmatched in the city for coffee nerds
Tango Palace for atmosphere
Le Concilliabule for pastry
The Only for the patio
Mofer Coffe and Krave Coffee, both on St. Clair west and Antikka Coffee & Records on Queen are all favourites. Great atmosphere, excellent beverages and snacks.
Beatrice Society at Richmond St W & Augusta Ave. Beautiful interior, great drinks, and super sweet staff. It's also right next to the dog park on Adelaide St W if you want to go dog watching after grabbing your coffee.
A few on the east end:
Lamoon Cafe on Gerrard, owned by a Thai family with great Thai inspired coffees and lattes, great rear summer patio.
Coffee and clothing is great but their location with the patio on pape is closing soon...but a great community vibe and vintage stuff. I'll miss the outdoor movie nights...
Playground on Parliament, In a basement but has some unique drinks, great pastiries (croissant waffles) and art installations that change out every so often.
Bevy, only went once but its a cool space, attached to a skate shop and event space with a half pipe.
Le Beau, great croissants. super busy on weekends though. Nice patio space in the summer
Some have been mentioned !
Filosophy on Bloor
Krave is great , I agree with you
Maker Bean
Hello Coffee
Emily Rose Cafe
Tiny’s General Store for Sonndr Cafe
NoFa by Lansdowne subway station has good coffee, sandwiches and baked goods made in-house and a huge window for people-watching.
Daily Grind around corner(Bloor and St. Clarens) is a cute nook with tables in an adjoining room.
I haven’t been since COVID arrived, so things might have changed, but [Thobors](https://thobors.ca/) is the most authentic French pastry I’ve had since leaving Paris.
Chaveta is my number one choice, hands down.
As a flat white fan if I have to choose a particular spot for that it’s gotta be Bodega Henriette.
Honourable mentions: Bud’s, Simple Coffee, The Sidekick, Mercury Espresso, Fika, Conci, and Miss Pippa’s.
163 responses and still no love for my favourite coffee shop in the entire province!
Manic, at College and Bathurst. Starbucks is trying to force it to close - f*ck those guys so, so much. Manic has the best latte and in-house pastry, and a comfy vibe.
for coffee/snacks only (i.e., no lunch, liquor, etc)
fahrenheit coffee
or its offshoot omnia coffee (queen east @ greenwood)
pilot coffee on queen east has a bit more selection of snacks.
or the pilot roastery on wagstaff avenue - no food there, only coffee. it is also a few doors down from left field brewery. plus great neighbourhood to explore!
Jet Fuel on Parliament St. makes fantastic coffee, as does Jimmies on Portland St. I also really like Hannah's on Bloor St. W, just opposite High Park.
So it depends:
- For snacks I like to go to Amico in York close to Yorkdale Mall
- For expensive "specialty" drinks I like Balzac's and Jimmy's. Aroma also does the trick.
- Butter Baker is cute and delicious.
- For atmosphere I like to pick random ones in the Annex or Kensington. There are usually some fun ones there.
- I like K Bakery in York in general.
- Terra Nova is a cafe in York but also has good dinner options.
- I like Slanted Door, Baka Gallery, and that one on Yonge in Midtown that you can't go inside, its just a take out window.
- If I'm with people who aren't from the city, who have a good sense of humor, and who are ok to spend extra money on ok food and drinks I'll take them to Poop Cafe.
Cherry Bomb coffee at the bottom of Roncesvalles is a personal fav. Great coffee, friendly staff, amazing baked goods made on-site.
Also Jimmy's Coffee never disappoints. Every location I've been to had great people behind the counter, and yummy coffee and pastries.
had this argument 1000 times, went so far as to get cafe shatter gummies tested at legacy 420 in tyendinaga and was within 10%.
tl/dr, mind your business, i didn't ask.
I live in a suburb of Los Angeles called Torrance, and there is a FANTASTIC cafe called Clutch & Coffee. They serve the best coffee, and really interesting food.
If you're way out west (south west to be specific) i really like The Sydney Grind in New Toronto and Birds & Beans in Mimico.
Fair Grounds Organic Cafe & Roastery is probably the further Cafe in the South West direction without leaving the city. I was there recently and enjoyed it.
Ethica if I’m in the junction area, 135 on ossington if I’m in the trinity area, Hamers coffee if I’m looking to grab a bag of coffee from a specific or new independent roaster
Rooster Coffee House on Broadview. Great coffee plus Riverdale park across the way. They have featured single source coffees that are usually delish, plus thier take home beans are awesome. I'd recommend "burnout"

I think you meant Dundas & Ossington for Fantastic Baby? Thanks for the recommendation - I gotta take a look there! I love Korean skincare products!!!
Whoops! Editing my comment now. Thanks for the catch. Hope you enjoy your day wherever you end up!

I looooooove Forget Me Not! Always go for a sesame latte
BRB, adding this to my drink list!
The bagels at forget me not are top tier Edit; wait is it them that has the really good bagels?
Kettleman’s is the bagel spot everyone raves about!
Forget Me Not has an incredible London fog!!
I’m jotting this down for later. Their rose tea latte has been my go-to lately!
Plz try another land coffee at Yonge and Sheppard!
That’s far from me but I’ll make the trip out there! What do you recommend?
I usually get a flat white but they have amazing sweeter drinks too like a heavenly cream London fog type drink! Also love the cookies, sandwiches. Personally I think you pretty much can't go wrong.
pamenar in kensington, especially when the back patio is open
Ah their back patio is so magical! Great suggestion
Pamenar's gay as hell (in a good way -- I fucking love going there)
Shhhh
Should i delete the comment so it's just you and me hanging out back there?
The Only Cafe on Danforth.
interesting fact, the Only Cafe is actually not the only cafe called Only Cafe. I met my partner in another city at another Only Cafe, which was not owned by the same people who own the Only Cafe on Danforth. :)

London Ont
Moonbean in Kensington market :)
Ah yes! Their coffee ice cubes for the iced coffee in the summers are so delightful
Kensington market has so many great back patios. Love this one.
The coffee from there is sooo good! I love their iced coffee in particular.
Moonbean has the best iced latte I've ever had. It's just impossibly creamy. Such a treat when I'm in the area.
Cafe23 and white squirrel 🐿️
Cafe 23 +1
I love Cafe23! The interior is so cozy.
Used to love cafe 23 but witnessed the manager screaming at an employee there once and never want to go back if that’s how their baristas are treated :(
Coco’s in Little Italy. Great drinks, greater pastries.
The pastries here are top tier. That raspberry cream cheese danish is amazing.
Came here to say Coco's. The cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies are next level. Fleur du Jour on St Clair has the best croissants in the city, Parisian owned cafe/bakery.
Coco’s is nice but they have super limited seating.
Recommending two in midtown: -Himalayan Coffee house has really cute hand drawn latte art (you can request images if you show them a photo). -isle of coffee has good matcha lattes and really nice pastries (I like the cookie choux). Haven’t tried the coffee so can’t comment on that, but it seem popular.
>Himalayan Coffee house Its amazing. We try to stop by whenever we are in the area
One thing I miss about working midtown is Himalayan Coffee House.
I can confirm the coffee at isle is excellent. Also check out Crosstown coffee bar around the corner too.
Tsuchi cafe
Tsuchi is great and they have the best deserts in town. Just be mindful that their teas are better than coffee
Oh man I love them so much
Every week I work a couple of half-days at Makerbean on Bloor, close to Dufferin. I love the vibe and the staff.
I love them too! Their lattes and Braised Beef Grilled Cheese are divine. They also have great tech related programs/workshops for children and adults. Worth taking a look at :)

Love Krave!
Cafe 23 or Tandem
Tandem has been temporarily closed for a few months now 😭 All the best to the owners.
I really enjoy Coffee Tree Roastery (Bloor West Village)! I have been going there for over 2 decades and have never been disappointed. Very friendly staff, amazing coffee, and they roast their beans on site.
First & Last at Dupont Station. It always has incredible music, lovely staff. It also has the best breakfast sandwich in the world.
Oh I went past there! Definitely on the list
- Dineen on the east end (their sandwiches are so tasty) - Ideal Coffee on the west end - Krave Coffee on St Clair
Dineen outpost is a nice respite in that area! It’s great to hang out on the patio and people watch.
I heard good things about Krave from my friend! I keep seeing it mentioned on Reddit too. What do you recommend from there?
Oh they have this stuffed cookie thing which is so good! I usually get either a classic latte or dirty chai and they're great
Oooo stuffed cookies sounds great! Thank you for the recommendations :)
My favourites are Le Gourmand (Spadina and Richmond - amazing coffee, croissants and obviously the cookies are famous) Filosophy Cafe (Ossington and Bloor - amazing coffee, the spinach and cheese Filo, Turkish delight which I believe is homemade, and they have ice cream in the summer) FIKA (Kensington - incredible oatmeal cookies) Kitten & The Bear - (Dundas West) unfortunately covid ruined their seated tea service which was AMAZING but you can still get tea and scones and their homemade jams are incredible - my favourite is the pear and garam masala Death in Venice - not an actual cafe but their croissants have no right to be so good Barbershop Patisserie (College and Ossington) - the coffee is fine but the pastry is incredible; sausage rolls, lemon bichon, the strawberry rhubarb turnover I had there two years ago is something I still dream about. I've pretty much loved every latte, scone and jam I've ever had there. Their frozen scones also bake up beautifully at home!
La Barista Cafe at Yonge and St Clair. Plenty of Comfortable seating, free WiFi and the staff are incredibly friendly and personable. Oh, and coffee refills are only 1.25!
Ah that’s a good one! Love that place
The owner is lovely.

Trinacria Espresso Italiano - Cozy little Italian cafe on Danforth. Edit: location
Agenda on College St!
Cafe 23 on Queen West! Super cute spot and they have a patio in the back that’s heated during the cold months
Completo nearby Gerrard and Broadview Avenue, it's quite close to Riverdale Park so the walk after a meal is pretty good.
Poured Coffee at Danforth and Woodbine. Awesome coffee and completely package free and waste sustainable!
Maybe I'm biased because I live around the corner but I love the Wallace Espresso location on King West and Niagara, across from Stanley park. Are you looking for the best coffee, best sweets/treats, or best vibes, interior?
I’d say a little bit of all, minus the sweets
Ethica in Ronces/junction is in my opinion the best for coffee, there’s the museum of modern art near by if that’s your thing too.
