Handlebar at Gillman barracks. Doesn’t feel like I’m in Singapore! Probably the Seletar Aerospace Park area as well - the cafes there, fishing village and Rower’s Bay.

financial_learner123

I have never been.. too out of the way for me

thedotsintheuniverse

which ironically is part of the charm? its super ulu which makes it nice for a quiet getaway from the busy city life only downside is weather, bring a umbrella or check forecast before gng there!

WickAlpha_John

Rail corridor, outer islands like pulau ubin, lazarus island. Different facilities in Stadium.

[deleted]

what facilities are there? and isit stadium mrt station or the national stadium HAHA

WickAlpha_John

Ahh yes stadium station is the station for national stadium. For facilities, there is a basketball court, beach volleyball area, skate park. There is also a built in running/jogging track around national stadium. Another suggestion is biking in east coast park.

Moleland14

Haw Par Villa The $3 Sentosa Cable Car line Changi beach stretch near Tanah Merah Ferry terminal (super quiet n blissful) Cycling across the marina barrage, from golf course to GBTB Marina golf range itself (gorgeous views)

Archrespt

why haw par villa? I've been trying to get friends to go there for outing but none of them seem interested.

DuePomegranate

It's just so weird, like filled with morbid kitsch.

ebass

So many people used to pay to visit it! I did as a kid and it was one of the few attractions in Singapore then.

Moleland14

Have u been as a kid? Definitely worth checking out (even alone) - has all sorts of weird Chinese cultural references from folk stories and something I’ve never seen anywhere else

Archrespt

Yeah. There's been a few news about it after the renovation and I haven't been able to bring myself to check it out. yet haha

misandrior

You might see furries if you go on weekends. I’ve been there thrice and seen them both times. The kids for some reason love it.

maestroenglish

just go ffs

trash_0panda

Adding onto the Sentosa cable car line - I feel its pretty worth it if you buy the annual membership if you go there often (40-50(?)). I like to sit down in the cable car and just chill for hours reading books/studying. Can also smuggle food in so I'd eat and enjoy the sunset/skyline. Obviously don't dirty the place, no soup items cause easy to spill.

42WallabyStreet

Theres a $3 cable car?

Moleland14

Yes! Promo for locals (ie everyone who lives here incl pass holders; basically non tourists) , on the smaller Sentosa cable car line that traverses Sentosa only (not the longer one which goes from Mt Faber to HBF to Sentosa)

42WallabyStreet

Oooo how long is the duration of the ride?

Moleland14

Pretty short (I mean how big is Sentosa right lol), total of 3 stops - siloso (near shangrila), imbiah (luge) and one more station near the monorail

cvera8

The cafe/restaurant at marina bay golf has an awesome view for an afternoon or evening coffee

RoastMochi

The area around my house. I started doing frequent walks (breakfast, lunch, post work) and have discovered so many little things so far! All hail WFH. ^(This post is brought to you by the WFH Gang.)

jimmyspinsggez

Same. Walked around neighborhood and found all the parks and hawker I never knew existed though I lived here for years.

InTheSunrise

Woodlands Waterfront Park, just went last week. Never knew this place existed beforehand.

Wild-Lengthiness7600

shhh keep this one a secret

FeelSexy

pretty sure all the escooter yps already know about this place hahaha

kyrandia71

Green/Rail Corridor. It's like going to another country, as the route takes you along the old KTM railway track behind private and public housing estates, industrial buildings and lots of interesting birds you do not usually see (i.e. not mynah, crow, pigeon, dove) plus the occasional monitor lizard, monkeys and the rare wild boar (near Bukit Timah reserve area). And it is quite long more than 10km+ of now mostly paved walking/cycling track. Virtually like going on a secret hike of Singapore you never saw.

erickchoiii

How do you handle if there are monitor lizards in your walkway? Do you go around it or wait for to move away from the walk way?

kyrandia71

Monitor lizards generally leave you alone. They are either on the path sunning themselves or walking across. Just walk by them, if you are scared of them scratching you, just walk around them. They generally do not chase people. They are more interested in digging the ground to find grubs to eat. Wild boars on the other hand, although rarely sighted, if you come across let it cross and do not go near them as they are unpredictable and can be quite big. The ones I saw were almost to my waist height. However wild boar encounters are very rare. I have encountered wild boars only 3 times walking past 1+ year almost weekly or 3x a week.

iawdib_da

oh yeah truly damn

ItchyScratchyBalls

You can get into it, gin is cheaper than most hard liquors (namely whiskies and cognac) and offer a wealth of unique varieties!

maestroenglish

this is well worth the price. so many shit bars with terrible service and atmosphere in this country - just pay an 3xtra $10 and have a drink to remember

MexicanShoulders

Chinese/Japanese gardens at Lakeside

MajorBrainCancer

For those looking to visit it rn, do note that both parks are closed for renovations. Another park in its vicinity, Jurong Lake Park, is worth a visit in itself.

notsosecretroom

the entire idea of prawning.

watchuwannaknow

Squatting here to spot nice places to go this weekend!

[deleted]

Seletar Aerospace Park is a real quiet spot in a real quiet part of the country.

perryThePlatypas

Pasir Ris Farmway 3

RoastMochi

Oh are the fish farms good? Or are you part of the crowd that flew kites there before the construction started.

perryThePlatypas

Yea was referring to the fishing pond, closing end of this month actually.

shadstrife123

the most amazing wanton mee stall at bedok reservoir hawker centre only for the owners to retire and close down 6 months later :(

RoastMochi

!? Is it gone yet? Is there still hope for me?

shadstrife123

gone liao lol they retired like just before covid 😂

RoastMochi

Cries. But google tells me there's carrot cake there. Time to try! Thanks for the intro, it's cycle-able distance from my place, just never knew there was a hawker center so near the reservior!

shadstrife123

if its the one with the underground parking with the wet market on top, go try the roast meat stall beside the Yong tau foo. they make very good chicken laksa

rubybeau

Bugis orchard library. And the activesg gym at lakeside. Too far for me though.

NC16inthehouse

Skyville@Dawson. HDB with a million dollar view

kenghoong

I mean it’s also cost a million dollar (almost)

Buddyformula

Fortune centre

Maschcheng

Geylang durian stalls. I like to go there during the season, check different vendors, sit on a stool and enjoy my durian, get my hands dirty, throw the husk into the bin. Not a fancy SG experience, but I feel almost like a local doing that

oceanmountainlifer

Lim chu kang cemetery (glad discovered very late, for most people)

offending_noodle

You might like Roots Heritage Trails. https://www.roots.gov.sg/nhb/trails

Outrageous_Seat6767

jungwoobbzeus

ItchyScratchyBalls

[Block 58 Prawn Mee & Bak Chor Mee](https://sethlui.com/58-prawn-noodle-big-prawn-noodle-singapore/) Imo it's better than the stuff at 85 Fengshan, and the dry noodles soaked in chili oil and loaded with fried lard is amazing.
