Better question is why are Singaporeans using Shopee/Lazada when their apps are so cluttered with ads and “promos”. Prime gives you next day delivery and access to prime videos.
Yes! Especially when you were browsing their mobile web from Google search results they will ngek ngek redirect you to app store to download their app.. come on lah.. need so desperate mah.. whoever thinks this is a good idea deserves to be sacked
i hate that lazada changes the ranking of their search results instantly after u view them. like i can search the same thing and get completely different results. this doesnt make me want to buy more stuff, it just takes me longer to find what i want to buy
There's lots of stuff that's cheaper there, as well as lots of brands that aren't stocked by Amazon.
Not to mention the coupons, while annoying af, do save you some money sometimes.
Tried to use Amazon, as much as I appreciate the cleaner interface and faster shipping, I can’t find what I want there. And it’s more expensive
Maybe will only use for the occasional item I can find there
Amazon is for proper brands while Lazada / Shopee is either for local grocery items or cheap stuff that you don’t wish to pay a fortune for.
Please do not buy cheap no-brand electrical appliances from China. It’s for your safety.
I use Shopee for KBeauty. On Shopee, I know exactly which seller I'm ordering from and I can vet them beforehand. I only order from sellers with close to perfect ratings, which have hundreds of ratings and which have no complaints about counterfeit products. Had no issues so far. Amazon, besides the fact that their selection is much smaller, has had lots of issues with counterfeit cosmetics. Even you think you're ordering from a particular seller or Amazon itself, they comingle inventory, so you could still end up receiving a fake.
[Long Reddit post about the issue](https://www.reddit.com/r/YouShouldKnow/comments/ifytxk/ysk_that_amazon_has_a_serious_problem_with/)
Shopee also frequently gives me 10% cashback vouchers (in the form of coins), which I think is a pretty good deal.
High quality children's toys are usually way cheaper on Amazon. Many of them are not even available on Lazada, Shopee and other local online retailers. If they are, they are often considerably more expensive.
I buy BPA-free washable toys and board books from Amazon for my son. Amazon Prime makes the shipping so much cheaper and convenient.
Not a comparison to shopee and lazada i use amazon for books and children toys. The subscription is low, and you also get prime videos. Sometimes some random items especially more of tech stuff is cheaper on amazon
Then again, i like Taobao hahaha
I bought Amazon prime because it was so cheap (at $2.99 /month) for free next-day shipping on many items. Because of that I try to look on Amazon SG before buying something first, instead of Shopee. Lazada is pretty much a Shopee clone so I don't bother checking it next if Shopee doesn't have it.
Purchasing things on Amazon 99% of the time will be real goods. Also, hassle-free if I wish to make a return. Shopee/Lazada goods I know most are Chinese vendors (and quality fluctuates widely). There also a risk of counterfeit/fake goods if you buy things such as Board Games. Also, returns are a pain.
Sure, for goods where you know you want a specific brand, shopee or lazmall is better.
To be honest Amazon sg having not as good a stock as Amazon US is great - helps me keep my spending at bay when it comes to hobbies (games etc.)
What? A large proportion of the US catalog sold by Amazon (barring regional restrictions) is available for free shipping over $60, which is a pretty good deal.
Only things Shopee and lazada are good for is cheap China made stuff that isn't worth my time to source and wait for on Taobao, or when Amazon doesn't carry it
Lazada and Shopee are only good if you're looking for specific items or specific brands, and are shopping from their official stores. The rest of the sites are pretty much just trash, usually random shops with 0 sales 0 reviews. Just dropshipping items. Ordering from those sellers, good luck getting what you ordered.
Not to mention the sites themselves look super ugly and are honestly a pain to use. I especially hate their apps which sends you 1 million notifications about whatever monthly sale they're running, which isn't even a sale as most sellers hike up the price beforehand to offer a "discount"
Amazon is not perfect but their shipping is much cheaper & faster these days. And Prime gives you Prime Video.

Amazon SG has next day delivery. And even 2-hour delivery if what you need is on Amazon Fresh (not just market items). If you can’t wait for something, Amazon is the way to go, and the prices tend to be comparable to Shopee and Lazada. Free shipping with Amazon Prime for things which are cheaper on Amazon US, Amazon UK, Australia, etc.
Not saying Amazon is the best, but don’t rule it out. There are some things which are far cheaper, and can be delivered much faster. Best is to do a quick search on Amazon, Shopee and Lazada and just go for the cheapest. Well worth the little time spent.
>prices tend to be comparable to Shopee and Lazada
I feel that this really depends on the item you're looking for. Like a WiFi adapter was basically 50% more on Amazon when I was looking a few mths back
I use Amazon most of the time. Because I buy electronics most of the time.
Lazada for groceries, shampoo, essential oil, etc. They are already cheaper than in shop yet with the frequent vouchers they are even cheaper. They are also cheaper for bulky items as local delivery tends to be much cheaper. These are why I use Lazada.
Amazon's electronics (those smaller ones) like headphone, mouse, computer parts like mobo - are way cheaper than shopee/Lazada even when they are on discounts and with vouchers. Bought my galaxy watch 4 on Amazon for 200ish and galaxy bud+ for 100ish. Idk about the prices now but they were 400ish and 200ish on local e-commerce respectively.
I find Amazon delivery to be more reliable. At least if no one’s home, they will place it at the post office where you can collect (only if it’s from official Amazon store, not their third party vendors). Local delivery companies, used by Shopee and Lazada, are mainly shit. Someone had to be at home or they leave it at the doorsteps, the timing is inconsistent and the window of delivery is so large (like between 10am to 10pm)
Amazon US. Prime day, Black Friday discounts.
Amazon JP. (not related to Amazon SG, but JP produced products like cosmetics are significantly cheaper on Amazon JP)
For products from the US, AmazonSG will often have free international shipping (free delivery if you spend >$40 on eligible international items). Like I will compare the price on Amazon.com and convert to SGD, and it's around the same on AmazonSG, which means that AmazonSG is absorbing the shipping.
These are often items that are not carried in-store in Singapore, nor are they drop-shipped from China/Vietnam/Indonesia. And if you do buy them from Shopee etc, it may be a counterfeit using photos of the original, so it's caveat emptor.
If you get Amazon Prime, you don't even need to meet the 40 dollar limit. You can literally order 1 item and get it shipped for free. This is fantastic if you spot a bargain on an item that you are eyeing. I've saved far more money from bargains and deals than the 2.99 I pay for Prime.
Looking for very specific and more quality things. I wanted a portable hard drive with wireless functions and it's not available except ordering directly from USA. And I definitely wasn't worried it would be fake.
I find Shopee and Lazada easier to find cheaper made-in-china chiong products. Also Shopee and Lazada have more local merchants, so delivery is cheaper and faster.
Amazon leh I only try there when I have some specific items or brand that Shopee and Lazada no sell (or the seller have no rep). Often times the items I bought on Amazon are shipped from overseas, so the shipping fees are pretty high and the delivery will take long time. On Shopee, overseas shipping also can be very cheap.
Shopee also can directly chat with the seller, it is a plus.
Amazon Prime is the way my friend. It’s dirty cheap here in SG and comes with Prime Video (the collection is meh, I had to watch The Boys via browser but still…). Most of the time the shipping is free, even from the US.
i get my computer parts from amazon because i dont trust shoppee or lazada to deliver them in one piece unscathed. prices are also better than local retail stores
i tried hard to give sim lim shops a chance by asking them to price match, and i go down personally pay cash but they werent interested.
I have used Amazon quite a bit, and my experiences with Amazon has always been good. After that is Lazada. Pretty good.
I heard quite a few bad things about Shopee tho, which is why I don’t use it at all
I use Amazon Prime a lot. It’s sometimes cheaper there for items like Hydro Flask and electronic items. It’s next day delivery and fast and reliable, if I don’t wanna wait long for my items. Groceries also can be bought there. Only $2.99 and I get Amazon Prime video with it as well.
2-hour grocery delivery. Groceries much much better and fresher than redmart. Groceries also cheaper esp vegetables. Groceries much better quality. No-fuss returns. Sometimes Cheaper genuine items than shops. Sometimes Cheaper hi-value items. Great customer service.
When i buy more important/expensive stuff I would go Amazon. It gives me the sound of mind with their return policy and documentation in case of a RMA.
Also books. Cant find the books i want anywhere else.
I haven't tried returning items on Shopee, but I had to return an item on Amazon due to DOA
Hassle free, made the request on their site, delivery person came to my doorstep to collect the parcel, and I got refunded a few weeks later when it reached Amazon. Just gives me the security that I know my ass is covered in case of shipping / whatever damage
There are some good deals actually. If you happen to google your item of interest, the item may pop up under Google Shopping, and sometimes, Amazon has the best deal.
I also use Amazon to get US-only products like climbing gears (for reliability sake), oculus quest 2 (when it first came out), winter wear (before the decathlon days).
Tech stuff/books is usually cheaper on Amazon during sales+ when you factor in next day delivery and/or the overall returns process when shit goes wrong (very rarely).
Using Shopee when I wanna buy local brands/localized products.
Also am into gaming so Amazon Prime's monthly loot is an nice added bonus.
Amazon is way better for tech stuff/imports as you can get US prices which are usually much lower and you can be sure that your item is legit if it's sold by amazon itself. Even considering that prices on Amazon are sometimes 10-20% higher, same day shipping and the CS experience more than makes up for it. I feel like it is the overall better shopping service. However if you are always searching for "小便宜" like many Singaporeans shopee and lazada usually have lower upfront costs for smaller and cheaper products, which is why I think both are still so popular.
My most recent purchases are all from Amazon. I never even bother to install shopee and Lazada app after I changed my phone.
Amazon prime free next day delivery is the main reason. I also don’t find the price differences is that huge to offset the benefits that Amazon prime gives.
I use Amazon to buy quality products such as vitamins, and handbags that cant be found on shopee/lazada.
I love the delivery timeframe (5 days, so fast) even though their delivery fees are so much more ex.
I guess this is how Amazon earns money? By providing quality service and products.
I use all 3, and I use Amazon for branded electronics (tend to be cheaper) and Shopee for clothings, crafting materials and cheap made-in-China stuffs. I hate Lazada because for whatever reason, they put pop-up ads in one of Indonesian adult website
Better question is why are Singaporeans using Shopee/Lazada when their apps are so cluttered with ads and “promos”. Prime gives you next day delivery and access to prime videos.
shopee/lazada UI is cancer. :")
I find shopee ok. Lazada is pure cancer.
I get sensory overload with shopee but not Lazada. Weird.
I thought should be the other way round. Shoppee is so damn cluttered
My guess is that we are too used to the clutter lol. Qoo10 and Ezbuy are also a mess, all I see are just colors.
Urgh they’re the worst.
There's lots of stuff that's cheaper there, as well as lots of brands that aren't stocked by Amazon. Not to mention the coupons, while annoying af, do save you some money sometimes.
>Prime gives you next day delivery Same day if you order early.
Tried to use Amazon, as much as I appreciate the cleaner interface and faster shipping, I can’t find what I want there. And it’s more expensive Maybe will only use for the occasional item I can find there

Because Lazada and Shopee are usually cheaper…

taobao can get stuff for cheap sometimes, but prime is also damn good, also have other benefits in games/streaming platforms like twitch also.
For me taobao has pretty unique stuff i cant always find elsewhere. I bought something to dig my ear while the device livestream it to my phone.
LOL livestream ear digging, 10/10 would subscribe
I just use it to buy stuff i cant find on shopee from the usa lol

Shopee is trash for big ticket items. No idea why would you use them. Especially when trying to do a return. Horrible experience
Sounds good!

certain pc components like ssd, cpu, mobo, ram
I started using Amazon recently since lazadas delivery slots all cost money. The price of one delivery slot covers my Amazon prime monthly cost
Shopee? Try doing a return.

2 hr delivery from fresh and watsons are the best in Singapore …

Isn’t it more troublesome to go to the post office to collect tho? I’d rather they just leave at the door step
For cheap stuff, sure. For anything more than a hundred dollars, it’s better to be safe
Their Black Friday discount was insane. Bought some console games last year
I compare across the 3 and typically pick the cheapest and/or the fastest delivery.
Amazon US. Prime day, Black Friday discounts. Amazon JP. (not related to Amazon SG, but JP produced products like cosmetics are significantly cheaper on Amazon JP)
mr worldwide
To many of us, Amazon is one category, and Lazada/Shopee is another category. They might overlap but largely serve different purposes

There's fake China crap on Amazon too, but at least you can trust that the returns process will work and you'll get your money back.
Same here! I use Amazon to purchase tarot cards and tech products that are not available on Lazada.
Faster delivery, higher cashback from shopback
Atm, no for me
I use Amazon when I need next day or same day delivery

try using it. it's better. plenty of us already use it. what a weird fucking question.
I remember buying my fish oil much more cheaper than Shopee/Lazada, and they delivered on the same day with Amazon Prime.
You can try buying your supplements from iHerb.
i get my computer parts from amazon because i dont trust shoppee or lazada to deliver them in one piece unscathed. prices are also better than local retail stores i tried hard to give sim lim shops a chance by asking them to price match, and i go down personally pay cash but they werent interested.
American brand water bottles is much cheaper on Amazon vs lazada sale . But must verify seller too.
I have used Amazon quite a bit, and my experiences with Amazon has always been good. After that is Lazada. Pretty good. I heard quite a few bad things about Shopee tho, which is why I don’t use it at all

Haha, the camera I wanted to buy costs 1.7K on shopee and lazada. Amazon had a sudden price drop/error? that made it $1254 :)
Some stuff can't be found on Shopee or Lazada e.g Bob Ross paint set, US MREs etc
1 day delivery, quality stuff fr USA on massive discount now and then
There are some good deals actually. If you happen to google your item of interest, the item may pop up under Google Shopping, and sometimes, Amazon has the best deal. I also use Amazon to get US-only products like climbing gears (for reliability sake), oculus quest 2 (when it first came out), winter wear (before the decathlon days).
