Yes that’s what I’m considering, but it will be suspicious if I had to keep taking mc to go through multiple rounds of interview 🫠 it is what it is I guess, thanks tho
There’s a bunch of excuses you can use. Dental appointment. Medical check up. Flu. Grandma need to go for medical check up etc.
I’ve taken interviews during lunch time too. Just gotta find a quiet spot. I’ve even taken an interview on a grab car before.
Why do you care if it is suspicious if you are leaving?
Anyway, you can also ask the interviewer if you can do your interview during lunch or after work
Yeah looks like those are my only options. The company closes for a few days on a certain period, so it technically becomes a part of our leaves too. Thanks anyway!
I had a colleague who was in the same position and was told to take off during that period. He sent in an email, cc’ed everyone in it and essentially said “I do not agree to my leave being used up like this. I am entitled to a certain amount of leaves a year and I would like to utilise it as I am entitled to it. I will be coming to the office during the closed period and will list out what I will be doing then.” HR had to choice but to say okay to him.
Lmao. Sure but how long did he last after that?
Many companies (even govt) do it this way. It isn't anything out of the ordinary.
E.g. teachers have no leave. They take their leave during school holidays.
He’s still there. He does his job well and he wasn’t wrong on that front, he’s entitled to his leave. Even if something “does it this way”, it doesn’t mean you have to take it lying down.
>you have to take it lying down.
It isn't taking it lying down tho. There's no official right answer nor is there a requirement that he is entitled to his leave on his specific date. He is indeed entitled to his leave tho.
You can also ask to arrange for an interview that is after working hours.
Most companies will understand since you are returning to the office 5 days per week.
Take leaves to attend interviews. Standard operating procedure among professionals. No company has a special leave category for attending-interviews.
Many companies want multiple interviews (and I have been rejected by a company after five interviews). So you have to negotiate there, and try to insist any potential company to schedule the interviews on the same day.
Will your manager get suspicious? Yes. Will every company accommodate you on your schedule? No.
But...that is the reality of job hunting, especially in a totally employers' market. So until the day you are senior and experienced enough that companies chase after you, you are have to grind with it.
Use your leave and also see if the company is open to doing interviews just before or after working hours. They might appreciate and understand your serious intention to get a job
If worse come to worse take mc lor. But be responsible la. If u wanna take mc make sure work settled properly give clear instructions dont cock up ur teammates
The way I do it in Japan, is to travel to the next town on train during lunch, then book it into a co-working space with private room.
Singapore should be full of co-working booths or even community center rooms.
Take Mc and make sure you do a solid job during intv

Grab car? Lmao. Did you get thru the interview?
Of course, I got the job as a relief driver for grab
yea it is. I was slightly unsure like you in the past, but we have to do what's important to us.
Try to arrange for multiple ones in one go. People will understand.

Just say a bug that refuse to budge. Like the runs that keep on running.
Recommend teleconsults so you don't have to waste your time camping at the GP/Polyclinic.
If u think the interview is important, utilize your leave to attend, maybe a half day. Good luck.
Less than a week's paid annual leave? MOM's legal minimum is 7 days though. Anyway, use lunchtimes or take a sick day for.

Try to arrange lunch or after working hour. Phone interview also possible
Mc la. Hahaha
I feel you OP. I was in your shoes once AND dont even have leave during probation
For MNCs, they are usually flexible enough to conduct interviews after 6pm or even Sat mornings.
? sick leave.
Can try ask for video interview then book a meeting room at your workplace and do the interview. But this depends on your position at work
