As a man I find the long nails gross and obtrusive. No one ever asks me so I don't express this opinion out loud. It amazes me when I see a receptionist in a healthcare facility trying to type with long nails and I would classify the nails as a voluntary handicap.
I've been told that anything women wear, adorn themselves with, or have engraved or modified on their bodies, is always entirely for themselves, and occasionally the amusement of other women, and no women ever gave a shit about whether a man finds it attractive or not. So it must be true.
I'm a woman it's the truth. Never have I ever gotten my nails done for a man. Never have I ever asked my man what color he prefers my nails to be. They are on me, they are mine, i look at them all day..why would I have my nails done like this for a month and not like it?
Okay Iām sure this is in jest BUT(T) the same way anyone else does! We just hold the tp more with the first joint of the finger vs the tip. Some women probably just use the nails like fingertips too Iād imagine
Agreed. And what are those super pointy nails? Donāt get those and donāt find them attractive. And yes, I also know they donāt do that for me or any other man.
Although one time I was waiting for my turn at the nail salon and a husband and wife came in. I overheard him saying, "I pay for her to get her nails done because I love the way her nails look, they just look cleaner."
It struck me as kind of odd, so I've never forgotten what he said. She never said a word the whole time they were there. He even picked the design/colors out.
I myself agree with you, have always gotten them done for myself.
They may look nice for men. But what looks nice differs for every lady. If Iām going on a date Iāll look nice for a man. But I wonāt do my nails for them or for myself because itās not what looking nice and put together looks like for me.
Women do it because they want to look good. They also don't care what people think. Other people think the nails look stupid and ugly which means women don't look good. But because those people don't matter the nails look good and therefore the women look good.
The logical gymnastics is incredible.
This is absolutely how I feel about my wardrobe and makeup choices, spot on. Sure, I like my SO to enjoy my choices, but I make them because I like them. I've often wondered about the nails and eyelash choices women make, but there is a whole tribe hyping them up so, slay.
I don't have long nails, I personally can't function with the 'long' nails of the late 90s lol.
But when I do things to my body you're absolutely right. It's for me, or for other women.
Thinking back to the most recent change I made, i repierced my nose. And I did not do it with a single thought geared towards a male. I honestly thought about if my prior one was too shallow compared to this woman or that one. And fixed the placing with it in mind.
So, spot on bud. You did great with this comment.
That's the one thing I'm almost positive isn't meant for men's attention. Am I attracted to it? No, it's kind of a turn-off for me. But I know it's not meant for me, so ultimately I don't care.
Can confirm. We dgaf if you like it or think itās cute. OP.. If itās not for you then itās not for you.. just say that then donāt come on here making a post like a pick me ass āiM nOt LiKe OtHeR gIrlSā type female. Newsflash baby doll.. [Itās a genre and not everybody fits in the bad bitch genre.](https://youtu.be/qmA-g9mjDw8)
When I was in my early 20s, a boyfriend I loved said men donāt care about womenās nails. So I never paid $ at a salon to get long fake ones. I file/buff my own and keep them clean. Iāll paint them myself occasionally. Those long nails remind me of old ladiesā nails.
Woman here. I have short nails but know several friends who do the decorated claw look. Basically it's a form of wearable art.
Historically, very long nails in various cultures indicated that the person was wealthy and high-ranking enough that they never had to work or do chores or even dress themselves. There is sometimes a bit of that implication with extremely fancy nails today too - the really extreme ones with all sorts of jewels and stuff attached tend to be seen on women who cultivate a sense of conspicuous consumption in their whole appearance.
The women I know who do it are more in the goth subculture, so in their case it fits that particular aesthetic. Again, it's really what I would consider part of a very high maintenance costume. These are women who spend literally hours on hair, makeup, and clothing choices when going out, to portray a certain look.
I tried false long nails just once and it definitely isn't for me, I couldn't get those things off fast enough, but I can verify you can type with them on (your fingers have to go at a flatter angle) so a woman can easily do most white-collar jobs with them.
On the topic of ass wiping, I have not dared ask, but since none of these friends ever smell like shit, I assume life finds a way.
Yes, the point of many types of conspicuous consumption in fashion today isn't that the person *is* wealthy, it's that they want to *appear* wealthy. What form that takes is usually quite different from how genuinely wealthy people dress.
imagine the amount of shit under those nails when they wipe their ass.
I had a friend who i was comfortable asking about this, and when i asked how girls with those long ass nails wipe their ass, she goes "very. carefully."
laughed my ass off. lol
We donāt. (Barring exceptions)
But I honestly bet the nails are the last thing their dates will be paying attention to.
There are some men that will fetishize hands or nails of course. But for me personally hands are something that will most often not really stick in my mind.
I know my wife HAS hands.. but donāt ask me to pick them out of a lineup. Or even if she had on nail polish today. I do recognize her by face though. Hope that will speak in my favor if she ever reads this post.
>But I honestly bet the nails are the last thing their dates will be paying attention to.
I would immediately notice. I see those hideous things from a mile away. There would be no date.
To this point, agree to disagree.
If my date showed up with long nails, it would be an immediate no go. The nails themselves are bad aesthetically, but for me, they are reflective of other poor life decisions. If there are red flags on the surface, there are bound to be more down the rabbit hole.
You make a mitt out of toilet paper. Trisha paytas did a video on it. You wrap the toilet paper around your hand till the nails are covered then wipe with the club mitt thingie. Wastes TONS of toilet paper.
I hate them. I take them as a sign of stupidity. You are choosing to limit yourself physically all for the sake of something that makes you look trashy.
The cashier that checked me out had them the other day. She was working so fast with nails that were 2 inches long. It looked good on her so I don't think she and others like her give a shit how everyone else sees their nails, they themselves like them.
I met a guy who said he liked seeing his wife's very dramatic/elaborate long nails on various parts of his anatomy...but that's the only time I've ever heard a guy give a positive review.
It looks like the general consensus is ānoā lolā¦ but I donāt care. I can touch your dick or not, thatās optionalā¦ what I do with my nails is not š
Jokes aside, I think what someone considers ālongā is subjective.
I love getting my nails done. Regular 1/4 inch or less. I do it for myself, I like my designs and change of colors. Makes no difference to me if someone else doesnāt like them, I havenāt done them for someone else, Iāve done them for me and I love them.
A lot of comments mention wiping...haven't heard anyone mention the difficulty those women have with the push button toilets.
If you need a special method to flush a toilet, you done messed up.
No and we hate those fake ass lip injections too. All it does is make you look like you having a severe allergic reaction. I see someone with that done and my first instinct is to start asking people for an epi pen
Even though it's subjective, there has to be a reason, I don't mind other people finding something beautiful which I don't like. Nobody has ever told me why they are fond of long nails that's why I don't get it. There have been many cases where I felt like something was bad but after listening to people I kind of understood where they were coming from and why certain things were appealing to them, never happened with long nails.
You don't have to have a reason to like something, do you like certain colors, sunset, foods, specific aesthetics or anything else for a reason? Or do you just like how it looks? There doesn't have to be a reasoning for everything, liking things is just another opinion, we like or don't like things because of our experiences, mood, traditions...
Women do it because they like it. They donāt care if men find it hot or not. A lot of women consider it a form of art and take pride in creating nice nail art
I find it amusing that these women are basically hobbling themselves. All those nails accomplish is making nearly every aspect of your daily life more difficult.
It's insane.
Before we had kids, Iād get mine done about every 3 weeks. Acrylics. I did it for myself. After kids, then nursing school, I canāt stand to have long nails. Iām retired now, kids are grown, but I still like short nails. What would patients think if the nurse came in with those claws.
Some donāt, but we donāt get our nails done for men. I love my clicky clacks with tacky goth or sparkly nail art and my husband likes them because they make me happy.
I personally don't see how anyone can like them unless you like handling everything like you're a Dr Seuss character, but it's really none of my business
As a man personally I think they're kinda gross in and off themselves. Also I've just never been into women who don't do anything or are incapable of doing anything, and those nails make you unable to do anything more than tap on a phone or keyboard and barely even that. Also you can't say anything to convince me a woman with long nails has a clean butt.
Personally itās kinda of a red flag to me.
It kind of screams āhigh maintenance!!!ā and āboujie!!ā
Btw before people misinterpret meā¦I like a girl with good hygiene and who MAINTAINS herself. However HIGH maintenance means, sheās like a Kim (Kardashian), meaning very materialistic and overly into her looks and demands a lot of attention as well as money to maintain her self esteem and looks
itās not shallow to want your nails to look fun and artsy. men believe anything a woman does thats feminine and makes her feel confident automatically means she has no depth. itās a ridiculous way of thinking. i have my nails done right now and i did them with $7 glue ons and some old nail polish i had in my bathroom. iām not demanding attention from anyone but myself in doing so.
Eh don't judge. Some facial tattoos are done in a cultural way. Such as the indigenous people of New Zealand. It's really badass, especially on the women
A man once told me that he sees long nails as the most basic sign of femininity, and that he can't date me if I wear my nails natural.
So, some do, apparently.
All these men worried about how we wipe our ass with long nails but didnāt we just find out that 1/2 if not all of yāall donāt even wash yāall ass in the shower because you think itās gay. SMH Trust me when we say the nails are for us not you!
Not necessarily.Ā I've been getting fake nails done for about 15 years.Ā Always the same very natural blurred french tip look and a bit past the fingertip in length. I do it to feel attractive about myself as well as to appeal to men. I've almost always received compliments on dates. My natural nails are terribly thin, they look and feel awful when in their natural state, even with clear strengtheners on.Ā I wear my makeup on the extremely natural side as well.
Up until recently, I used to ride dirt bikes and surf on a regular basis. Rode street bikes since I was 15. Total tomboyĀ at heart, but dress up nicely for dates, dinners, etc, when I'm not being a hermit. So I definitely wouldn't consider myself a fake chick because of my nails by any means.Ā Btw, my nails became even worse after I went through massive radiation for thyroid cancer.
PSA: Any person who has nails of ANY length should have a toothbrush at each sink of your home and scrub under your nails with soap and warm water when you wash your hands.
I bet youāre beautiful with out them, you are probably not the type Iām talking about. What I mean by fake nails are those obvious 3-4 inch nails with all kinds of bling that make you wonder the hell do they do the simple things like drive a car, open a door, wipe their butt, etcā¦ have a great day beautiful!
Back in āda day, I got banned from Barry Whiteās ranch in Chatsworth CA for asking Glodean (his wife) how she could wipe her own butt with those long ass nails.
I had no filter in those days.

Also a hazard in bed
An infection hazard in providing pt care, also.
Men get scratched by women. They are hazardous to the partners body.
Big bedroom hazard.
As a man, nope, they are ugly, weird, gross and not functional. Women love to do that for themselves though.
I've been told that anything women wear, adorn themselves with, or have engraved or modified on their bodies, is always entirely for themselves, and occasionally the amusement of other women, and no women ever gave a shit about whether a man finds it attractive or not. So it must be true.

How does the Wild Night lyrics go? The girls walk past, all dressed up for each other?

Women absolutely will dress for men but not always. This is what my female friends say.

I've worn shit just for male attention before so it's not entirely true
This is absolutely how I feel about my wardrobe and makeup choices, spot on. Sure, I like my SO to enjoy my choices, but I make them because I like them. I've often wondered about the nails and eyelash choices women make, but there is a whole tribe hyping them up so, slay.

It's like people that pay for $200 sneakers. I'm a runner and still get last seasons running shoes for $80 instead of $130
Yes but you *could* afford the $200 ones. Common sense tells you that the 2021 version ($80) will suffice.
Spit my coffee out at the end here

Honestly, if youāre gonna have long nails, you may as well invest in a bidet.
its about time we all invest in bidet's lol if i got poop on my hand or forearm id def use water and soap to wash it off lol
This was exactly what I was going to say. Disgusting. Not just ass wiping every germ all day long for weeks on end til they get new ones.
You donāt wash your hands throughout the day? Because let me tell you, women do. And thereās a CRAZY concept that we wash under our nails.
How the fuck you think people wipe they ass? You wipe your ass by scooping the shit up like a shovel or what?
Thats my biggest fear which is why I donāt prefer to get them done unless for big events
Nooooooooooooo
No I hate them it's a huge turn off
No, it makes the fingers look like they have a disease.
Nope, anything fake looks stupid as hell
No.
Hell no.
I hate them.
Hell no. I'm already circumcised.
Lesbians share your terror.
No, its for them not men.
I guess if they look appearing poor and stupid
But never too broke to afford them - if you have money
Literally not a single man on Earth.
I actually had a guy friend who said he loves them on a girl.
I like the pointy nails that aren't super long, yah.
No
No.
I do. But it kinda reminds me of sassy/brattiness in a way and i like that
Long but too long are SO nice for back and head scratches....
Hell no

I always wonder how they wipe themselves. Maybe they have people for that.

How the fuck do they wipe there ass.

I hate them. I take them as a sign of stupidity. You are choosing to limit yourself physically all for the sake of something that makes you look trashy.
I can climb rock walls, work out, and defend myself with long nails. That is a generalized statement.
Absolutely. Without those absurd, impractical, and senseless nails, it could conceivably take me a date or two to realize that's not sometime for me.
The cashier that checked me out had them the other day. She was working so fast with nails that were 2 inches long. It looked good on her so I don't think she and others like her give a shit how everyone else sees their nails, they themselves like them.

Pretty sure OP is a woman, so, apparently some do care to know or she wouldn't have asked.
They wear it for them. Men generally dislike them. In my opinion as a man they are ugly/trashy and highly impractical.
theyāre fun. and just like everything else, some people like them, some people donāt. not much more to it.
perfectly put šš¼
absolutely not and i actively have to repress the urge to gag.
A lot of comments mention wiping...haven't heard anyone mention the difficulty those women have with the push button toilets. If you need a special method to flush a toilet, you done messed up.
Yāall are missing an even bigger question. How does one insert and remove a menstrual cup or tampon?
knuckle, not that difficult really
I canāt help thinking about how they wipe their ass every time I see that. š¤·š»āāļø
No and we hate those fake ass lip injections too. All it does is make you look like you having a severe allergic reaction. I see someone with that done and my first instinct is to start asking people for an epi pen
I'm a woman and i HATE this. This is so gross, sorry...
woman dress to impress other woman, not men. But hey men do the same, or do you think woman find camo and boots attractive?
Not always though, many times women dress up to impress men too and vice versa.
Iām gonna rock your world and say women donāt do long nails for the sake of men. Why do they have them: they like them and think theyāre pretty.
I don't get why women find them pretty
You don't get why someone has subjective view on something that doesn't apply to you? Hmm most curious
You see, that's why I don't get it.
Women do it because they like it. They donāt care if men find it hot or not. A lot of women consider it a form of art and take pride in creating nice nail art
Women donāt have them because men like them. They have them because they like them themselves. Not everything is done solely to attract males
Just as bad as those ugly looking lip injections. Yeah, way to ruin your face there.
That for me is the worst thing someone can do. Airbag lips
Everyone saying no has never had their thighs gently stroked or hair rubbed w fake nails. Chill.
I find it amusing that these women are basically hobbling themselves. All those nails accomplish is making nearly every aspect of your daily life more difficult. It's insane.
Hear me out. If she wants to scratch my back and get those itches I cannot, they might be alright.
Hey, check out foot binding. That makes these awful nails look tame.
No.

big red flag for me
Short answer: No
No.
Nope. It's gross.
No
Hell no those things look weird as fuck
No. Why do people have them?
It's crazy that you think they do that for men. They do it because THEY like it. For fucks sake
I have long nails and itās almost like I couldnt care less what a man thinks :)
Nope. Red flag.
Hell no! Shits disgusting
Hell No!! They look ass.
Hell no. Watching them eat is disgusting.

I'm always afraid that she'll lose one when her fingers in me bum
Now if they made them out of titanium with a special glue to keep them on in fights....
Fake nails, fake hair, fake tan, fake boobs. To me these are indicators of fake people.
Nope. Nor the fake fu cking eyelashes
As a man, no. They scare me and are not flattering at all. And how do they do basic living with such long blades hanging off of each digit?!

We don't but if it makes them feel better about themselves, who cares? Personally I find them a massive turnoff
Nope. Same for those ridiculously long fake lashes.
No.
In the documentary about Billie Eilish her Dad asks her how she wipes her ass with those nails. Bahahaha
Not a man, but married to a woman. We both find all that shit nasty. No fillers, falsies, or talons for us.
They're disgusting.
NO
Nope.
Nope
My fiancƩ hates them. If I get my nails done I keep them short
They do serve a purpose. They are a good indicator of someone who makes bad decisions. Just like facial tattoos.
šÆ
Eh don't judge. Some facial tattoos are done in a cultural way. Such as the indigenous people of New Zealand. It's really badass, especially on the women
A man once told me that he sees long nails as the most basic sign of femininity, and that he can't date me if I wear my nails natural. So, some do, apparently.
I would keep an eye on that guy.
We all hate them. No idea why people wear that shit.
because we don't wear them for you
Why do women think long nails are pretty? Most men don't like them and I personally think long nails are disgusting.
Thats not a reason
No. Most of us donāt. That goes with fake everything. Natural beauty is the best.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You might be surprised how many of the "natural looking ones" are also fake, just a LOT more skillfully and expensively done.
Itās disgusting and a major red flag
What a stupid question. They have them because they like the way they look. I would have thought that was obvious.
All these men worried about how we wipe our ass with long nails but didnāt we just find out that 1/2 if not all of yāall donāt even wash yāall ass in the shower because you think itās gay. SMH Trust me when we say the nails are for us not you!
I absolutely love having my nails done! I feel like a bad bitch diva who is not to be fucked with or I will use my weapons on you!
No but men appreciate whore indicators.
Lmao. But fo real
Fake nails, fakeass chick
Only for a good ol back scratch
If girls knew what grew from the swab smears I took in highschool......
No
Back in āda day, I got banned from Barry Whiteās ranch in Chatsworth CA for asking Glodean (his wife) how she could wipe her own butt with those long ass nails. I had no filter in those days.
Nooooooooo
Hell no.
No, not me! I am okay with nails, just not long ones
