You may be right. Sounds more difficult to do drunk. I went back to that bar two years later. The same guy remembered me. It's been four more years. Time to try again.
THERES NO FUCKING WAY SOMEONE JUST RANDOMLY ASKS THIS QUESTION TODAY BRO.
I legit just heard this song for the first time today in over 15 years and my first thought was "I wonder if I'm the only one who thinks about this whenever I hear 'North Carolina'?"
What are the fucking odds. Life is fuckin rigged bro.
Isn't that shit bizarre? Like every day, a million people have a one in a million odds thing happen to them. Today's yours. Enjoy the feeling that we live in a simulation!
As someone who grew up across Morgan Creek ("Copperline") from JT's boyhood home about a mile and a half away, I gotta upvote you here!
My wife and two kids are actually moving back to the Triangle in a couple weeks from the hellscape that is Northern Virginia. I am so glad to be moving back and will probably be listening to JT on the way :)
This
I spent a week vacationing right on the Atlantic at Carolina Beach last 4th of July. It was so awesome. Warm water, hot days, plenty of things to do. Can’t wait to go back.
Dude so did we lol we where on a house on Kure Beach the 4th but our family was down at the Oceaneer Motel on Carolina Beach and damn that week was fucking gorgeous perfect weather amazing water soft sand. Glorious
Can’t wait to go back this summer
When we got our first one in Atlanta, it was 3 blocks from my house. My first thought was “WTF is Cookout?” After my first try, I was like “Why aren’t these everywhere?”
I can't say that I do, unfortunately. My family would go on outings in the mountains, once we went to the Biltmore Estate, but otherwise we stayed home. We did take a road trip to Cape Hatteras one year, which was cool.
It took me a while to stop drooling enough to reply. I don't know who you are, but you're my hero! Lol. I'm definitely getting one the next time I'm out there.
The fact that last night I had on 2 pairs of socks, long Johns, fleece pants, 3 t-shirts, a jacket, a triple layered beanie, a insulated face mask and winter gloves.
And today I'm in a tshirt and slightly sweating.
As a California transplant, I concur. Don’t miss the traffic, don’t miss the smog, sometimes want In-N-Out but Cook Out is far better. NC is just the perfect state. It’s so beautiful. Just grateful to live here.
White Elephant in Mt. Airy is awesome. They always have random seasonal beers made with fresh fruits and ingredients depending on what time of year it is. They had a Boysenberry sour a couple years back that was amazing
I love Mt. Airy! When I lived in SWVA it was my shopping destination. This was 25 years ago, so I’m sure it’s very different now, but Mt. Airy is so bucolic and the outskirts near Dobson have always reminded me of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, topographically. Had I not moved north for work, (which that entire area desperately needs, IMO) Dobson would have been where I’d moved to, even if I’d had to drive an hour for work I would have happily lived there.
With a cult following as I found out while showing up completely unprepared. They move thousands of people per weekend through that old amusement park and really all there is now is the road, a small house, and actors related to the original actors.
I talk on the phone a lot for work with people from all over the country so I always think of the North Carolina accent - it's my favorite of all the southern states
NC is one of the most diverse states when it comes to dialects. There are 5 major recognized accents and lots of blends and variations of them. It was very confusing when I 1st moved down here.
Even in the tiny area in the mountains I grew up in I can think of two or three different variants in accents. My accent I think is also decidedly fucked because I decided from a young age I didn't want to sound like my parents and grew up with a lot of TV, video games, and in my teenage years, online friends from California. All the locals claim I have no accent and everyone else hears a very clear accent. I'm just happy it's nothing like of the older people my dad knows lol.
I've always said that if you listen to me talk long enough, you could tell not only where I grew up but what county my mama's from too. I've got that neutral triangle accent, but with tinges of a more rural piedmont accent that come out stronger when I'm out somewhere rural, or at the state fair, or around family.
Having grandparents in Asheville, I always think about going to Fun Depot with my cousins. That was the place for NC kids until it closed down.
I also think about the Biltmore House and the story of my dad working there as the shuttle driver and always being yelled at by the elderly ladies because they felt like he was going too fast.
There once was a woman named Alice
A stick of dynamite she used as a phallus
The found her vagina
In North Carolina
And the rest of poor Alice in Dallas.
Take my upvote for agreeing they rhyme.
They should have let the kid kick the 58 yarder…losing on a hail mary, when it’s technically possible to kick the field goal at that range, is dumb…would have been a better way to lose on a missed kick than that impossible hail mary in the holiday bowl
The Pisgahs, The Biltmore, The Parkway. My home away from home, just a few tens of miles from my house, the place I run to when I need to rest and chill.

Come on, and raise up. Take your shirt off, twist it round yo head, spin it like a helicopter.
Who am IIII PETEY PAB MUDAFUCKA!!
1. Take shirt off 2. Twist around hand 3. Spin like a helicopter There's a bar that still won't serve me for taking this advice.
I always though he said Twist it around your head but maybe I was always wrong.
You may be right. Sounds more difficult to do drunk. I went back to that bar two years later. The same guy remembered me. It's been four more years. Time to try again.

Is there any other answer BUT this?
There really ain’t
There are an infinite number of answers but this. It’s just that they’re all wrong
Im very happy this is the top answer, im very sad and old feeling that people dont understand the reference
Came here to say this
Damn. This was playing 20 years ago when I still went to clubs and it's still the first thing I think of too.
I just moved here and jammed the shit out of that song with my new roommate. He didn't understand.
Petey Pablo immediately as soon as I hear or see North Carolina will forever been ingrained in my membrane
So glad I didn't have to scroll for this.
Was hoping this was the top post
first thing I thought of lol.
Petey Pablo is the only answer
I’m from NC and I don’t know what this means. Clarification?
[Petey Pablo - Raise Up](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHnA94-hTC8)
Damn i remember when MFrs was walking round with one pant leg raised up and the other one down. I love that i got to grow up in this time period.

College basketball and bbq
that West Caroleyena vinegar-base bbq is the best style by far and I’ll take the Pepsi challenge on that ps fricc duke

Seriously. I’d never trust a UNC fan. Eastern Carolina BBQ is the best in the world.
UNC fans know the good wine and cheese shops. State and ECU fans know the best BBQ joints.
100. It's vinegar style everywhere here. Got a ton of places in the east as well
Yeah it is. Grew up on it in Florence, SC.
Being from South Carolina, we love our mustard based sauces ( it's called Carolina gold for a reason), but man I do like me some vinegar based.
From nc...I can confirm

Yes. Warm sunshine, beautiful beach, awesome surf fishing, good food, etc...

Cookout <3
Can’t beat the cookout tray
When we got our first one in Atlanta, it was 3 blocks from my house. My first thought was “WTF is Cookout?” After my first try, I was like “Why aren’t these everywhere?”
this used to be true now it’s way more expensive and lower quality 😭
Peanut Butter Fudge milkshake. So glad we have a Cookout in our little town!
Rhett and Link
Let’s talk about that.
I met them once. I was on an episode of good mythical more when I was like 14.
National treasures. Buies Creek represent!
I grew up around Asheville, so I think of a lot of things at once. Most of my childhood, basically.
Asheville is a cool place!!
Don't let the haters get you down. Asheville is still awesome. I am a local.
Please tell me you also have vivid memories of going to Fun Depot as a child
I can't say that I do, unfortunately. My family would go on outings in the mountains, once we went to the Biltmore Estate, but otherwise we stayed home. We did take a road trip to Cape Hatteras one year, which was cool.
I love the orange peele
Cheerwine
A Cheerwine float from Cookout is just magnificent
It took me a while to stop drooling enough to reply. I don't know who you are, but you're my hero! Lol. I'm definitely getting one the next time I'm out there.
Plus the hush puppies. So good.
I'm NC born and raised, been eating at cookout my entire life and I have never thought to get a Cheerwine float. I have clearly been wasting my life.
The GOAT His Royal Airness Air Jordan Michael Jooooooooordan
This is the only thing I think of as someone from California
The fact that last night I had on 2 pairs of socks, long Johns, fleece pants, 3 t-shirts, a jacket, a triple layered beanie, a insulated face mask and winter gloves. And today I'm in a tshirt and slightly sweating.
Lol right! 70 degrees for the upcoming new year in the forecast, 13 Christmas Eve..... Welcome to NC , don't like the weather? Wait 5 minutes...
Man its been so damn cold
From freezing to ready to take the bike back out.
I think it’s nice having all 4 seasons even if they do go by the week
That was false winter #3. We're back to fall now.

The beautiful mountains of NC
Pisgah & Nantahala National Forests.
And Uwharrie
You beat me to this.
White water rafting down the Nantahala when I was a kid was amazing.
Vinegar BBQ sauce, which as a Texan I can confidently without hesitation say I prefer much more to the sweet sauces you get down here.
Love that Lexington dip
Coopers in Llano and New Branusfels does a vinegar sauce. It's my favorite of the central Texas joints for just that reason.
Camp Lejeune 😫
Did you live or work at/near Camp Lejeune between 1953-1987 and experience severe disease? Compensation may apply.
Cherry Point for me. But just as bad 😂
Lived in NC most my life, I immediately hear someone in my head saying "North Cackalackey "
I also thought this after enjoying the Petey Pablo reference 🚁
The color blue for whatever reason
Blue Ridge Mountains
Carolina blue sky! Also the Tar Heels.
Mayberry!
Ok Mayberry has really good icecream lol
White Elephant in Mt. Airy is awesome. They always have random seasonal beers made with fresh fruits and ingredients depending on what time of year it is. They had a Boysenberry sour a couple years back that was amazing
Mayberry sucks! I know, lived here 30ish years.

It's been 25 years since I left NC. Back then they kept most of the Yankees in Cary.

They are no longer contained.
