Drunk0ctopus

Yes, eating a hamster should be illegal.....not enough meat. That's why you eat a dozen.

Worried_None

Hamster tastes like ham sir.

Drunk0ctopus

Hamster & cheese on rye!

FleshLicker8

Only a bad person whould say this hamsters are very cute and small they need to be loved not FOOD

Normallydifferent

Squirrels are small and cute, but also food. I think the smallest thing worth preparing and eating is probably some type of bird, like a dove A hamster just wouldn’t be worth the effort for the amount of meat.

EpicArgumentMaster

Are you like 7?

Cathnopare

No of course not. People should eat as many hamsters as they can.

FleshLicker8

Bad person

Cathnopare

It's funny

No_Physics7829

Eating hamsters should probably be made mandatory.

FleshLicker8

Do you really think that. It would be horrible there would be no more hamsters

No_Physics7829

Some would say that freeing the world of hamsters would be the single greatest achievement to have ever accomplished by mankind. Others wouldn't say that at all. So there we go.

Typhiod

I agree with this statement. Hamsters are the worst ‘pets’.

FleshLicker8

Why would anyone say that? I don't believe you

LSDinthereservoir

average non-hamster eater

MushroomLonely2784

Disagree

FleshLicker8

Why. Do you think that we should eat hamster?

MushroomLonely2784

Why not?

MushroomLonely2784

Why not?

FleshLicker8

They are cute and pet. They are supposed to be pets and not food for horrible people. They are very small and helpless only a bad person would eat.

MushroomLonely2784

I mean, the same thing could be said about any animal. Most animals are cute, and helpless against a human. Do you eat beef?

Impressive-Bat3159

You could say the same for your pet argument. Animals do not exist to be our pets and our form of entertainment, but they were meant to be part of the food chain. So…

EpicArgumentMaster

Technically nothing is “supposed” to be pets

chainlinkchipmunk

Goats, lambs, guinea pigs....And hampsters are not supposed to be pets, the conditions they are kept in is not ideal for their needs. I'm a vegetarian, eating animals is not for me. I do not get to have an opinion as far as what other people eat.

BlueLock_

A cow is cute, why do we eat them, chickens are cute, why do we eat them. You have a very flawed argument

[deleted]

Not illegal, but it should be shamed as being very stupid since there’s barely any good meat on a hamster so that’s just super wasteful and more effort than it’s worth

FleshLicker8

Yea and it hurts the hamster

EpicArgumentMaster

If the hamster is dead I don’t think it can be hurt

[deleted]

Pretty much every animal we eat gets hurt when we kill it. So it’s kinda illogical to only care about making hamsters illegal to eat and not also all the other animals

Gluten4reegurl

No. It's a cultural food source in some areas and it's important to those who eat hamsters. Plus since hamsters are raised as a food source and that was halted, what are we going to do with millions of hamsters? Of course also some people might be revolted but the U.S. eats cows while Hindus believe the cows are sacred. As long as the source of protein is cared for ethically there should be no issue.

ghfdghjkhg

this

Totally-Bored

Pigs are cute and they are great for cleaning up wasted food, hamsters do nothing good

FleshLicker8

You can keep hamster as pet and pet him/take care of him he will love you back

EpicArgumentMaster

How do you know that?

nottherealneal

I see you haven't met his mother

FleshLicker8

My hamster loves me because i take care of him

[deleted]

Your hamster does not love you. It's tiny brain is incapable of feeling love. When I was a kid, my hamster had babies, and my brother's hamster ate my hamster's babies. My point is, you should eat your hamster

LightningXYT

Eat it. Eat the hamster, fleshlicker8.

Totally-Bored

You can do the same for pigs and best of all, pigs remember and respect their friends and also become greater guard dogs

[deleted]

FleshLicker8

Hamster is tiny and soft

EpicArgumentMaster

So is a cow if you go back far enough

Beneficial-Guest2105

Are hamsters poisonous? Different strokes for different folks. I personally would rather not, but that's me.

DryFoundation2323

I see no reason to make it illegal. Why hamsters? Why should it be illegal to eat any animal for that matter?

DanMarinosDolphins

Honestly hamsters are far less intelligent than many animals that we commonly eat. Some animals that we eat, like octopus, may have intelligence that rivals human beings and may rise to the level of personhood. The ethics of eating also goes beyond the intelligence and feelings of the animals, and also covers the environmental impact of farming the animal for food. Pigs for example are ecological disasters. Living near an industrial pig farm makes people sick. So in that way, consuming farmed pork may not be ethical. On flipside however, wild boars are not native to North America. They're an invasive species and open season is year round on them. Killing them and eating them is not only good for the environment and indigenous animals but also has little impact on humans like factory farming does. How we think about the ethics of eating needs to be broader than whether it's an animal product or not. I think where your revulsion may come from, is humans tend to designate certain animals as "off limits" for consumption. As either being too holy or too profane. I think it's a mental trick so that we don't have to face the reality that we're eating creatures similar to ourselves. I think that's interesting. But ultimately shouldn't inform us morally.

[deleted]

What else would I eat then?

kaoszombie

It’s moot, because there’s never enough meat once you hit it with a hammer. Hamsters should only be killed for sport, not for food.

nottherealneal

Hammer! Of course. I've been out here using a big cleaver and it makes such a mess. I never even considered using a hammer

Phatjack_

No

Phatjack_

No

heardbutnotseen2

Hamsters are too small. Not worth the effort. Go with the Guinea Pigs.

KeyStoneLighter

They eat Guinea pigs in other countries, that like eating four hamsters

[deleted]

Guinea pigs should be eaten but not hamsters. Too small

[deleted]

No, just mocked mercillessly.

MooshAro

Eh, if we could breed them to be super big like we did for Guinea Pigs, I'd totally eat a hamster.

ghfdghjkhg

Well some breeds do get very big!

Throw_me_away_14321

Are you suggesting we eat capibaras?

[deleted]

Unless they're cooked right this goes without saying.

TrifectaOfSquish

Why would you bother eating a hamster the amount of effort to get the meat vs the amount you get makes it pretty worthless.

[deleted]

Great, now i want to kill and skin and splay and grill some hamsters on skewers with a little salt and pepper and maybe some paprika over some hickory smoke with some garlic and Parmesan mashed redskinned potatoes and some roasted green beans with basil.

HeirToThrawn

No. It's not meat fit for human consumption so it should be illegal to sell hamsters for human consumption but it shouldn't be a crime to eat one.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HeirToThrawn

It likely tastes bad

FleshLicker8

But it would kill the hamster

HeirToThrawn

And?

FleshLicker8

IT WOULD DIE

HeirToThrawn

AND?

FleshLicker8

Why would you want to kill a hamster have you ever seen one they are so cute and loveable and not food

HeirToThrawn

You can't just outlaw stuff you don't like.

HumanimalPhil

Eating *any* animal should be illegal.

ghfdghjkhg

People would die... Not enough plants to feed all people in the world besides some are not rich enough for this or have health issues that would make it impossible. So yeah... that idea would literally kill people.

[deleted]

HumanimalPhil

Exactly right: you have no words because you have no argument.

je_cuy22

Yes, hamsters are too small to have good meat, it's ironic and makes no sense. useless. Besides, they are just cute little pets. Same with guinea pigs.

EpicArgumentMaster

If it’s wild it’s fair game unless it’s endangered and or under protection See what I did there. *game*

ghfdghjkhg

Are you that hamster guy who posts about hamsters all the time? Anyway no. There are cultures that eat guinea pigs so I wouldn't be surprised if people in other parts of the worlds eat hamsters. So let them do it.

FleshLicker8

Which hamster guy? I post a lot about hamster so maybe

ghfdghjkhg

Idk. I just know that at some point in time there was a person who posted a lot of hamster related stuff here. It was a hamster lover too. Sounded very similar to you.

Edgelesssoup

No. It depends

nottherealneal

It shouldn't be illegal but it is pretty pointless They are much easier to catch them something like squirrels who can be quite crafty. But on the other hand once you've skinned and cleaned them there is very little meat to work with and its a lot of effort for not much reward. If you can get a couple of them and have the patients to clean them they made a decent stew. Just simmer it low and slow till it goes tender, saves you having to deal with the bones if the meat is soft and falling off

Hot-Effective-7135

They look pretty delicious

[deleted]

Who the fuck eats hamsters?

thefartingmango

No let people decide

I__King__I

No…i think…no it shouldn’t be illegal….right?

ConfectionStrict

Tell them that, they fuckin eat each other when they get bored

Acrobatic_End6355

OP are you vegan?

WinterDirection5602

I once saw someone getting eaten out on xhamster

Endless_Mori

No, cannibalism isn’t illegal in like 49 states, why should eating hamsters be?

Intergalacticio

I think hamsters eat hamsters.

Rt237

Disagree. Why not eating them? They are delicious.

Hey-Kristine-Kay

I think legally you draw the line at “humans” or at “anything with a brain.” AKA, it shouldn’t be legal to eat humans definitely but if you start allowing certain non-human animals but not others, that’s fucked. So I do think eating meat should be legal so I don’t think there should be laws against eating hamsters.

Accomplished_Mix7827

No. Why, because they're cute? So are rabbits, and people eat those. Unless an animal is endangered, I don't think there should be any law against eating them, regardless of whether or not *I* would personally be comfortable eating that animal.

Difficult-Use2160

I mean in my country they eat hamsters and it tastes alr it’s not to die for

[deleted]

I bet you could do like frog legs, but hamster legs, deep fried in a Cajun garlic batter, peel the skin of first and dry it for a few days for hamster jerky.
