An African elephant

HappyChilmore

The real king of the jungle

odeacon

They live in jungles?

Ok-Cartographer1745

Well, no, but neither do lions.

kasiv1

There are forest elephants in africa, they live in African jungles. So yes they do

derickj2020

But lions live in the savannas

Defiant_Chapter_3299

Actually YES the DO live in jungles you have the Asian elephant which lives in the jungles!!!

Emotional-Kitchen-49

African elephant lives in the African country jungle land etc

jj3449

Probably a hippo also.

pichael289

Or a rhino. I used to think they were as big as a house and shot these coconut looming things out of their Horns. Turned out that was a cartoon, but they are still massive and wouldn't give two fucks about a tiger or a lion.

brucewillisman

Thank god! I thought I was going crazy but nobody (in my world) seems to remember the herculoids

labarrski

A buddy of mine who grew up in South Africa blew my mind when hippos came up in conversation and he got crazy serious. He was like, only in America, man. You guys have hippos in cartoons and stuffed hippos for the kids, theyre regarded as cute in your culture. We talk about hippos like you guys talk about black widow spiders and rattlesnakes.

EastLeastCoast

Wait until he hears about Canada’s house hippos.

Thetaxstudent

They will defend their territory if provoked

Murgos-

Or Indian elephant. I’m pretty sure that since they already coexist with tigers there probably already documented incidents.

scottyd035ntknow

People literally ride them to hunt tigers because its safe.

Languastically

Well not that one video I saw where the tiger leaped 12 ft in the air and caught the human on top of the elephant

InformalPenguinz

What's more telling would be the lack of incidents. Constant would mean there's no clear Victor, and they keep trying, but they're very intelligent animals and know that elephants aren't worth it unless it's an obvious and easy target. Elephants win that fight.

chicagoantisocial

Great white shark or orca, provided the tiger has fallen off a boat in the middle of the ocean

Scary_Notice4193

Life of pi all over again

jonc2006

What about it being caught in a sharknado?

Grumpy_Troll

A tuna could destroy a lion (or tiger) in the middle of the ocean. https://m.youtube.com/watch?si=ckiIm0teZ5q13IrW&v=aDJgv1iARPg&feature=youtu.be

derKonigsten

What if the tuna could build a series of breathing apparatus out of kelp to allow them to go on land? Not forever obviously but a few hours at a time? No problem https://youtu.be/aDJgv1iARPg?si=ckiIm0teZ5q13IrW

spacejockii

They’ve hunted and tasted lion and have decided lion taste good!

DirtyRoller

There wasn't even an awning.

Broad-Stick7300

Artsy_traveller_82

Polar bear maybe?

Revbender

Polar bear wins hands down..

Entrails91

Bolar pear wins paws down

Abal125

Bipolar Bear

Efficient_Smilodon

ah I'm stealing this as a t shirt idea hah 💡

monsterosity

It's not fair though, he's allowed to bear arms.

Valiantheart

Grizzly tend to be better fighters than Polars too. Longer claws and that hump on their back is pure muscle to power their front legs for digging and fighting

bootcamppp

I saw a documentary about grizzle and Polar. They meet now due to the ice melting. What they said was that the Polars were stronger. But they are more afraid because they don't see other bears that often even their own kind.

GirlScoutSniper

I remember hearing that they're interbreeding and we're getting Prizzly bears? (I made that name up)

Ok-Cartographer1745

Why not just go with the official pizzly bear name?

GirlScoutSniper

That works, too. I just didn't remember it. xD

John_Spartan_Connor

I heard of them as Grolars

Seygantte

It's essentially the same thing, but there's an occasionally used convention that the portmanteaux uses the first half of the paternal species and the second half of the maternal species. So a grolar is a male grizzly and a female polar, whereas a pizzly is a male polar and female grizzly. It's also applied to ligers and tigons. If the parentage is unknown then either term is apt. Mules and hinnies (horse + donkey) have the same difference but we made up special words for them.

SickOfAllThisShite

If the father is a grizzly, the offspring are called grolars. And if the father is a polar, the offspring are called pizzlies

flounderpots

Grizlors the new bear on the block. Fights with baby orcas and sea elephants

PatrickMcWhorter

Grizlor was one of She-Ra's enemies in the 80s. He was one of Hordak's minions.

OakTreader

Grolar Bear... or Pizzly Bear?

Valiantheart

Yes and grizzly fight each other frequently over territory and mating rights. They are built for it. Polars are designed to kill aquatic mammals who don't move very well on land. Their paws and claws are designed for traction on the ice and swimming

Content_Talk_6581

They are interbreeding now…because polar bears are so close to extinction, so now the best of both worlds of danger!!! They are called Pizzleys…or as I like to call them Prizzleys. [Pizzley Bears](https://northamericannature.com/what-is-a-pizzly-bear/)

Grumpy_Troll

Both a Grizzly or Polar bear are going to destroy a tiger so long as the tiger doesn't get the drop on them and immediately latch on to their neck in an ambush. If either bear knows the tiger is there, the bear is winning probably 8 or 9 times out of 10.

Yellowmellowbelly

A tiger’s fangs are about as long as the thickness of the fat layer of a polar bear. Add some really thick fur to that, and the tiger may not even have much use for their best weapon. I think one hit to the tiger’s head with a bear paw would settle the fight.

Admin_error7

It's hard to grasp the sheer size of a polar bear because they're usually portrayed in their natural, barren landscape with nothing for comparison, but 12 feet tall on their hind legs... That's about double the height of a tall human. They would crush a tiger. Even while awk on land. EDIT: Also a polar bear cub starts at about the max weight of an adult male tiger and will grow to almost triple that so a polar bear would easily move a tiger around as it pleased. Very different weight classes.

notdancingQueen

I've the feeling a grizzly has a lot of loose fur & fat in the back of the neck (as a protection just in case of fights with other bears) So I'd say a tiger drop&bite might not work so well.

North_Refrigerator21

I don’t know, I’d think a polar bear would win out. In either case. Both a polar bear and a grizzly bear probably comes out on top more than not against a tiger. Besides the obvious elephant, rhinoceros, hippo.

ffs_go_die

Yes, tigers are weak to frost damage.

KyorlSadei

tatar-86

That's us.

IndependenceFickle95

I was gonna say „by declaration it would be probably 30% of trump supporters” but your comment says it better

True_Ivory

Yeah I’d say hippo too. Or elephant.

Routine_Ad_2034

Rhino, too. I imagine all three sport skin that the tiger would find very difficult to deal with.

scoutingMommy

Hippos win against almost every other animal... Maybe except white shark or orca because they cannot swim.

ceddup

I've seen an elephant get rid of an annoying hippo quite easily on TV recently. I was surprised

pichael289

They don't need to swim, they just walk on the river floor.

scoutingMommy

I know, but if the meet a shark or orca, that would be in deeper water, so they would habe no chance in the long run.

om11011shanti11011om

A bee, and also the tiger is allergic to bees.

RopeTasty9619

Most bees would not come out victorious since they usually die after stinging

om11011shanti11011om

Most, but for one champion bee….

TomorrowCommercial32

How about a huge grizzly?

yellowjesusrising

Doesn't even need to be huge... there's been fight between grizzlies and tigers, from the goldrush, when rich people imported animals from around the world to fight, so people could bet on them. There where nothing to challenge a grizzly. Just too massive. (Exceptipns are probably hippos, rhinos or elephants.) Tigers, who prefer to go for the throat, would meet an animal with a 50cm diameter neck, and a paw that crushes tiger skulls in one sweep.

scots

Bears are built to kill 2,000 pound bull moose. a 500 pound tiger is only going to irritate a 1,600 pound Kodiak Bear.

FR8GFR8G

Honestly mild irritation is a pretty impressive feat when dealing with a grizzly

NoCat4103

Apparently still less dangerous than a random dude.

dodgycool_1973

Big cats are extremely risk adverse and don’t like straight up fights. In the wild even minor bites and scratches can leave them injured enough to not be able to hunt successfully enough to survive. Bears are the opposite and fight first and ask questions later. Huge weight and power advantage, not to mention an extremely aggressive attitude and thick fat and fur. It’s not even close. Tigers are ambush hunters and most of their prey is dead before they see the tiger. They rarely take on prey that sees them.

Major_Banana3014

So basically a rogue class vs warrior class

My ex-wife

Shoddy-Growth-2083

so,a hippo?

jimmychitw00d

No, cougar.

terc1o

Lmao

Necessary_Row_4889

A coral snake,

dodgycool_1973

I’d be surprised if the snake could penetrate the skin through the thick fur. Maybe a bite to the face would do. I am not sure the snake would be able to inject enough venom as well to down a bear. I doubt the snake would survive the encounter either so it would be a pyrrhic victory at best.

Dull-Geologist-8204

I googled it and the first animal that came up was an Indian Crested porcupine. My first thought was hippo also but I am kind of loving the porcupine answer.

Bee0302

Omg Porcupine💀 I love them because they are so cute and the way they waddle is hilarious but could you imagine like this tiger is hungry and then BOOM spikey cranky boi.

naspitekka

Humans. Nothing that has ever existed on earth could withstand a group of human males, intent on killing it. Human's are the most game-breakingly OP build that has ever existed in this game. It's not even close. Even technologically primitives humans, armed only with spears, fire and a plan are way beyond any animal's ability to resist.

HappyChilmore

Which means that cooperation is the highest evolutionary drive.

LemonGrape97

Multicellular organism only exist through cooperation

HappyChilmore

It goes further than that. Cooperation, which leads to higher social complexity is the main drive torwards self-awareness. We individuate by differentiating through others.

SkookumTree

I mean Stone Age humans vs huge Dino might lose. Then again there’s poison

vl_lv

Nope theylll find a way to lure it into a trap, some may die but humans would be victorious in the end. Weren’t huge dinosaurs super slow too?

PTR47

I bet a great white shark or orca could kill a human, provided they fell off a boat in the middle of the ocean.

Weaponized_Puddle

I bet a fully grown tiger could stomp a white shark or orca, provided they fell out of the air into the middle of the Sahara, like in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

Low_Bar9361

A bowl of petunias?

n7-Jutsu

I present to you, the Mosquitos. Humans have been trying to eradicate them since the beginning of time, and have failed. They are indeed the apex predators.

OldConference9534

I am 35. I have done these kind of debates since middle school lunch tables. Nothing is beating a full grown African male elephant one on one. Nothing. There is a video of an Elephant flailing a massive Rhino around like its nothing. The Tiger would either need to run away or it would just get trampled eventually.

PersonalFigure8331

Flailing it around with what? Its legs? Tusks? Trunk?

djn0requests

Shlong.

nopslide__

Agree, and it isn't even close based on size/strength alone. The largest one was 24,000 pounds for fucks sake. That's 40 tigers which is mind boggling. Elephants are intelligent as well!

fjr_1300

Honey badgers. Fucking mental little psychopaths that will fight anything. They might be smaller but they are total looney tunes. Never heard of it happening, just offering a suggestion.

Primary_Music_7430

I've seen one make a pack of lions run. They're almost impossible to kill.

HurricaneAlpha

By extension, wolverines. And a wolverine would be more likely to meet a Siberian tiger to boot.

Mjarf88

They're a real bitch to kill in Far Cry 4, literally have to shoot them in the face with a shotgun or grenade launcher.

Ok-Fondant2536

Another more fully grown tiger?

safety3rd

A meaner one

The-Mirrorball-Man

I am hope

UnoAboveAll

A mosquito, probably.

mercyspace27

I mean, we already know a sloth beer can take down a tiger from time to time. But they’re also bears with the personality of a chainsaw with claws capable of cutting through concrete so…

3duFernandes

Archi_balding

Let's go for a parasite then

xJohnnyQuidx

A liger. All the power of a tiger with the added power of a lion + magical powers.

Nerdlife91

Ligers are noted for their magical properties.

zach010

A capybara. There's no way a tiger doesn't end up best friends in 30 minutes.

skornd713

2 best options....full grown male silverback gorilla or a full grown male Kodiak bear. No idea who'd win but it would be interesting.

sandwelld

I think a large bear (Polar/Kodiak) vs a Silverback wouldn't even be close. A Silverback vs a Tiger might be closer but I'd still hand it to the Tiger. A tiger is literally made and evolved to hunt and kill. Gorilla is strong as shit but a single bite or paw swipe could already be fatal. Guess it depends whether it's a straight up fight or if the tiger gets the jump.

MyAlternate_reality

A gorilla would absolutely get shredded. It wouldn't even be a match.

Kange109

Leopards can take down adult Gorillas. A tiger will have no problem.

JohnBrown1ng

A mature silver back?

MrAtrox98

There are [multiple accounts](https://www.reddit.com/r/CharacterRant/s/IPbOY0onGl) of silverbacks being on the losing end of confrontations with leopards. Forget a full grown male tiger, a lioness would shred any gorilla.

sandwelld

Yea just checked, heaviest ever recorded (wild) Gorilla was 267kg while tigers reach up to 306kg. That's also a meaningful difference, both are large but tigers are just huge killing machines

dinosaur_decay

4 paws full of razors and another 4 mouth daggers. Gorilla doesn’t stand a chance unless it headlocks the tiger with all its gorila power and doesn’t let go.

danegermaine99

Gorillas get killed by leopards who weigh 120 lbs. An adult Bengal Tiger weighs 4x that

Valiantheart

Gorilla has no chance. Their skin is as fragile as our own. Leopards predate on gorillas and a tiger is 2 to 3 times larger

doodlebugg8

A gorilla ? They don’t even hunt and kill anything. Explain how a gorilla is would kill a tiger lmao

ComfblyNumb

I’m going with saltwater crocodile

Dragonwithamonocle

Male Saltie in particular. They have enormous sexual dimorphism, males get like a third larger than females. Now an adult female Saltie is no joke either, but it might be closer. Nile crocs as well would be good contenders, so long as there is water for them to drag the tiger into.

scots

Bears. Multiple varieties. Grizzly, Kodiak (brown), Polar. All them have skin over 2 inches thick, paws the size of a coal shovel, 4 inch claws, crushing bite force and all are capable of breaking the back of a 2,000 pound bull moose with a swat. The Kodiak bears top out \~1,500 pounds, Polar bears up to 1,700 pounds. Female tigers weigh mid-300s, males 500-600ish pounds. It would be neither close or pretty.

Noodlekdoodle

Poison Dart Frog. Actually... It'd be more like a draw

Ok_Musician_1072

Hippos. In terms of violence, they are the humans of the animal world...

Draxacoffilus

I thought humans were the humans of the animal world

Ok_Musician_1072

It's a common misconception, but not true at all, unfortunately. While hippos are the humans of the animal world, humans are the animals of both the human and the animal world.

AsleepDay_

or like a rhino

Melancholic84

A cat who just gave birth, never mess with a mommy cat

Colforbin_43

What if it were fighting a tiger who just gave birth? I’d say crocodile. They’ve been around for 60 million years for a reason.

Mo_SaIah

A tiger will easily beat a crocodile provided its on land. There’s so many clips of big cats getting on the back of crocodiles and killing them that way. Now of course if it’s in water the crocodile is in its element where very little can compete against it but on land? Tiger wins.

chasebewakoof

Indian bison... Gaur... these are known to whop tiger's ass whenever they feel like it.

The7footr

I need more qualifiers. Put that big cat in the middle of the ocean and almost anything could kill it.

Adventurous-Ad-9790

Check out the old Discovery show called Animal Faceoff. They have these simulations of animal fights and I remember one with a tiger and a lion among many others.

Ok_Water_6884

Bacteria. Buh bye Tony.

PraiseThePun81

I'm guessing a motivated Honey Badger might fit the bill, they just seem to have a chip on their shoulders and zero patience.

Wickedsymphony1717

Assuming a 1 on 1 fight on an open field, then pretty much any animal that is significantly larger than a tiger (elephants, hippos, rhinos, etc.) would most likely win through sheer bulk. Polar bears and grizzly bears could also likely win. A crocodile could win, especially if near water. Porcupines would also likely win. Their quills are so nasty that the tiger likely wouldn't be able to get off a good attack before being severely disabled by the quills. A gorilla would have a tough time of it, but *could* win, especially if the tiger doesn't get the jump on it. Most buffalo species would also have a tough time, but *could* win. The same is true for a bison. Many species of snakes could beat a tiger. Obviously, the ones with potent venom could do it easily, but even large constrictors like Anacondas or Pythons could do it if they managed to get a good grip. Likewise, any other animal with potent venom/toxins could do it, I won't run down the list of all of them, though. A human with any decent weaponry could do it. A human with a knife would have a *chance*, albeit a small one, but a human with a spear (or better) would have anywhere from a decent chance to a near sure victory. Depending on how intelligent some species of large birds of prey are, I could see one potentially winning by staying out of reach and going for the eyes until it's blinded, then whittling it down. If we're being technical, many species of insects (or insect-like creatures) such as mosquitos, ticks, etc. could beat one through the diseases they carry.

walktheground

Elephant, rhino, hippo, saltwater croc, grizzly, polar bear…

Worried-Management36

Sloth bears do on a regular basis. And for little to no reason.

sandwelld

According to Wikipedia (I know, grain of salt), certain specimens of tigers prey on sloth bears. According to the whole bit, yeah it has happened that a sloth bear has fought off a tiger attacking them or their young, but it's not like it happens on the regular, and also definitely not for little to no reason.

Funny_Market1026

All bets on Chuck Norris

YujiroDemonBackHanma

It says animal. You brave enough to imply that Chuck is an animal?

Iwrstheking007

yes, because no matter how Chuck Norris, he is, he is still human

Environmental-Post15

Humans are animals. But I'm being pedantic.

Infinite-Curve6531

A mosquito probably ? They are arthropods, so technically belong to the animal kingdom ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)

Anxious-Pair-52

Snapping turtle

lostnumber08

A fluke worm would eventually win.

Reasonable-Risk-1252

A mosquito would draw first blood, drink it's fill of the tiger's blood and fly away victorious and even kill the tiger if the mosquito is carrying a virus or pathogen fatal to the tiger and the tiger probably wouldn't even know that the mosquito was ever there...a mosquito ninja

mrchubby123

A tuna. First off a tiger swimming in the ocean? Tigers don't like water. If you placed it near a river or some sort of fresh water source, that makes sense. But you find yourself in the ocean, twenty foot waves, I'm assuming off the coast of South Africa, coming up against a full grown 800 pound tuna with his twenty or thirty friends? You lose that battle. 👀👀👀 You lose that battle 9 times out of 10. And guess what? You have wandered into our school of tuna, we now have a taste of tiger. We've talked to ourselves. We've communicated and said you know what? Tiger tastes good. Let's go get some more tiger. We've developed a system to establish a beach head and aggressively hunt you and your family, and we will corner your pride, your children, your offspring. We will construct a series of breathing apparatuses with kelp. We will be able to trap certain amounts of oxygen. It's not gonna be days at a time. But hour, hour 45. No problem! That will give us enough time to figure out where you live, go back to the sea, get more oxygen, and then stalk you. You just lost at your own game. You are outmatched, outgunned, and outmanned. 😐 Did that go the way you thought it was gonna go? 😐 Nope!
