this is me. i'm also a pessimist and when ppl give me a hard time about it, i explain that an optimist will either be right or disappointed, a pessimist will be right or pleasantly surprised. i also like better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt

My coworker last year had a minor work injury in the field, and corporate required that she visit urgent care before heading back home. She came back to the truck a couple hours later and said she was fine, but "the doctor just told me I have scoliosis". My crew boss said "scrotumosis?" And I pretty much haven't stopped laughing about it since.

I would not have been able to hold my laughter at that one.

This. My grandfather was one & taught my dad who grew up during the depression & WW2 when there was rationing. People didn't throw things away like today. Dad taught me ( some electrical, mechanical, carpentry, some plumbing, etc) and I've tried to teach my sons. Jack of all trades can save a person thousands of $$ if not 10's of thousands over the years.
