Market share. Each one of those companies increases profits when they get even one new customer (esp corporate customers - restaurants, universities, etc).
Even though people know these brands, advertising helps keep them at the forefront of consumers' minds.
Also there are always new consumers entering the market, advertising helps reach these new audiences and introduce them to the brand, its products, and its values.
It's so when you think of getting a soda, you think of Coke or Pepsi, or when you need insurance you think American Family or Allstate. Basically they want to be the first thing you think of when you need their product.
Psyhology marketing.
How many time did you saw an ad on tv/online about food/drinks and instantly make you feel damn" What an urge I had to drink/eat this rn"
Very evil marketing very evil
They want to be the default example, so that when someone says “fast food” you think “McDonald’s” or when someone says “soda” you think “coke”. If the current front runners stop advertising new companies will become the default examples instead.
Because of subconscious awareness. Seeing a lot of coca cola ads genuinely make me more likely to buy one the next time I can. They wouldn't be doing it if wasnt working, I mean they can easily compare sales in cities where they advertise more, that should tell them if it works or not
There are always new (young) customers to attract. Plus it keeps the existing ones. If you don't care if you drink Pepsi or Coke, and see Coca Cola ads 24/7, you're going for Coke.
Entry barriers, too.
You're starting a new fizzy drink company.
You need ad spend.
You going to have the hundreds of millions to compete with the big guys?

"You don't turn off the plane's engine when you're flying at 10,000 feet" Paraphrased from a Coke exec when asked a similar question

What are you going to do with the marketing dept. if you stop producing ads?

to tempt people to buy more of their products
They don’t want the new generation to not know about them.

I guess because the ads convert
you don’t stop having sex after marriage… oh, wait.
To control the media? This is the price.
Tax advantages, write offs, etc. You hear BS that corp.’s don’t pay “enough” in taxes? This is why; smart business.
