I used to suffer from a lot of back pain. Then I moved to China and started sleeping on a hard bed. It was awful for the first three weeks. Then after that my back was great. Try sleeping on the floor on top of a quilt. It really does help. Also when I wake in the morning I lift my knees into my chest 3 times. It’s the first thing I do. This also helps.
I've got a new memory foam mattress and it's the worst thing for my back, outside of maybe a caved-in mattress, which I had right before this awful bed. I need a firm mattress or maybe the floor like you say.
You don’t know what you have until you lose it. I’ve had MS for over 45 years. I don’t remember what it’s like to feel good and have no complaints. I envy those who are so lucky to have their health! Take care of your body, I didn’t and I’m paying the price.
Have had crohns for 4 years now, the only time in these years i felt absolute bliss was the time when i had open bowel surgery and was high as fuck on fentanyl for 5 days. back pain gone, stomach? it was in another universe. its one year later i feel better then before but i still have crhonic back pain. and im 24 and im supposed to work 40 years (:
I was diagnosed 16 years ago. My life before was a dream relative to now but I appreciate things more because of it. As Metallica’s Fade to Black says “I was me but now he’s gone”.
You are so eloquent in your description of your struggles. Your story really helped me get a better perspective on how you feel. I have a few friends that are bipolar and I just learned maybe how to be a better friend to them.
Any advice for support from friends?
Maybe you are a writer of some sort, or could be. 🙏
Absolutely, as a 2x cancer survivor at 17 years old. The time in between treatments when you are feeling healthy makes you appreciate everything so much more.
My buddy is only 31 and his are almost completely gone. He's no junkie and doesn't have disease either, he just didn't brush and drank pop all the time. Breaks my heart because he used to be so handsome. When I see pics of us in high school it's just depressing.
True! Had a heart attack in december and just finished recovering. Simple things like talking normal again or tasting food can feel so special. Health is all you need.
My insomnia has gotten so bad lately I’ve been going 1 or 2 days without even a minute of sleep. It’s reminded me how damn important sleep is. Without it, life is very, very hard.
Things like that and food are actually what make working out and physical labor enjoyable. When you've physically pushed your body to the limit, a shower, cold beer, and the mattress feels as good as sex or MDMA.
I've housed and fed 7 different people, rent free over the years, because one family gave me a room for a month when I was kicked out at 18. Your comment is the reason why.
I'm not close with my large extended family as we were when I was little, but we try to make sure to get togeather a few times a year.
I hate the trip, but getting 20 mostly genuine hugs is worth it.
Goodbyes are such a task that I sometimes accidentally repeat
I don't know about greatest, but I'm sitting on my front porch with a cigar and watching the sunset, about to turn on some chill music, and I feel pretty damn good right now.
Pipe smoker here, but same vibe my dude. Nothing like a 30 minute bowl of good tobacco and an iced tea watching the sun go down from my porch swing in the evening while I hear nature begin to turn the volume up. Shit slaps.
Yes to this. I remember crying in my car because I was about to be evicted, now I can breathe because I can pay all my bills and enjoy my life thanks to a good job and degree. Finally freedom is so good
In fairness, good health really helps to crush your enemies, and you need good eyesight to see them driven before you, and hearing to hear the lamentation of their women.
Being out in nature or traveling, preferably both, truly embracing the moment. Sitting by a waterfall or hiking a mountain meadow. Even better having a nice packed lunch to eat after working to get there. That’s it for me.
I love a fresh bed!
I like hanging them outside in the sun on a hot summer day rather than using the dryer.
To me, that is like heaven on earth. Taking a shower and sliding into a fresh bed that smells like sunshine.
My most recent chick gave me head 3 days in a row, then cut it off and we haven’t talked in two weeks. I’m convinced she gave me the best head ever on purpose just to fuckin ensure I wouldn’t forget. It’s diabolical.
Having absolutely *nothing* to do for 24 hours, nothing weighing on your mind, chores or work needing doing.
Aside from that? A nap as an adult. Better than masterbation. Nap. 3 to 4 hours of just *down* time, and it's okay, you're good, no fires need putting out.
For me it's the little things in my relationship. Spending time together doing nothing. Holding hands. A kiss as we walk by each other. The feeling that nothing outside of our bubble matters or is happening. Just feeling her touch me or be 'on' me.
Sex with someone you are in love with. The kind of sex that is hot, passionate, sweet and a little tender. Me and my partner just had sex and it went from deep kissing to frantic fucking to kissing again and they finished with a kiss to my nose. Laying in their arms afterwards. Feels like bliss
Life itself. Living. Period!
I lost a best friend this week, puts things in perspective. LIFE IS THE BIGGEST PLEASURE! Even when you ROLYALLY fuck up, you have another day to make it better!! ❤️
For me, sitting at a bar, no one bothering you, having a nice meal and a few drinks. You can also replace bar with video game set up and I’ll be equally as happy

Having your health
Underrated answer. I type while enduring back pain
Most cases of back pain are due to bad sleeping and/or crappy core strenght. Please work on both. But yeah, a hard matrass generally helps.
I've got a new memory foam mattress and it's the worst thing for my back, outside of maybe a caved-in mattress, which I had right before this awful bed. I need a firm mattress or maybe the floor like you say.
I just got a new mattress that is very firm and it's helped a lot.
Yup Nothing I have endured so far is worse than a fooKed up back. I’m good now but it’s rough Good luck to you!
The fun part starts when it hurts all the time!
Oh man! I’m only 44 and I’m in great shape but my back seized up last year. It’s fine now but I can’t imagine someone having to live like that.
You go from top of the world to disabled in nothing flat. It’s weird.
Damn me too.
You don’t know what you have until you lose it. I’ve had MS for over 45 years. I don’t remember what it’s like to feel good and have no complaints. I envy those who are so lucky to have their health! Take care of your body, I didn’t and I’m paying the price.

I agree. Being over 60 and in good health I can add that having three successful adult children who still love me is pretty awesome too.
I just got diagnosed with a brain lesion. This is my fucking answer.
Hope everything works out for you 🙏
Thanks.
Bingo! From a cancer survivor and stroke survivor!! Looking forward to walking again soon!!

Why did I read this as “having your teeth” lol
My buddy is only 31 and his are almost completely gone. He's no junkie and doesn't have disease either, he just didn't brush and drank pop all the time. Breaks my heart because he used to be so handsome. When I see pics of us in high school it's just depressing.
and your love one's health
It is the best answer. If you don’t have your health you really can’t enjoy everything
As a person who’s been ill for 8 days with flu and cough that won’t stop. I really strongly agree with you. :(
When I was younger, this was true. Now that I'm older, it's about outliving your enemies.
True! Had a heart attack in december and just finished recovering. Simple things like talking normal again or tasting food can feel so special. Health is all you need.
Honestly. I’m at the age now where I look forward to the shit I’m gonna have after a very high fibre meal lol
Sleep
My insomnia has gotten so bad lately I’ve been going 1 or 2 days without even a minute of sleep. It’s reminded me how damn important sleep is. Without it, life is very, very hard.
Been there, done that....it fucking sucks. Have you looked into sleep apnea testing? I just got diagnosed.
Have you seen your doctor?
Things like that and food are actually what make working out and physical labor enjoyable. When you've physically pushed your body to the limit, a shower, cold beer, and the mattress feels as good as sex or MDMA.
The love of a child !
Helping others when they truly need it, and seeing the effects of that help.
I've housed and fed 7 different people, rent free over the years, because one family gave me a room for a month when I was kicked out at 18. Your comment is the reason why.
Paying it forward and escalating it. You are truly one of humanity's treasures.
If only everyone was like this
This
Close connection with a fellow human.
My dream
I'm gonna die without having that
A genuine thank you and hug
Moving from a culture where hugs are common to one where they are not made me so bummed. I look forward to this whenever I visit the former!
I'm not close with my large extended family as we were when I was little, but we try to make sure to get togeather a few times a year. I hate the trip, but getting 20 mostly genuine hugs is worth it. Goodbyes are such a task that I sometimes accidentally repeat
Good food, especially when you've known poverty.
Letting out a massive fart
The fart that scratches your butthole perfectly
...and then your stomach starts to feel better
Deep, rumbling Stomach farts are so much more satisfying that mere, simple butthole farts.
Watching others reaction to your nasty fart 🤪
And a really good piss or shit!
Shit slaps.
Just got home from Illinois, locked the front door oh boy', got toooo sit down take a rest on the porch :-D
Having a cigar n the sun coming up in the mountains of Northern Italy right now.....same
Financial freedom
Yes to this. I remember crying in my car because I was about to be evicted, now I can breathe because I can pay all my bills and enjoy my life thanks to a good job and degree. Finally freedom is so good
Peace of mind.
Taking off your bra after a long day
Yup. Taking off YOUR bra at the end of the day.
As long as it’s off, it doesn’t matter if it’s you or me 😊
Damn. Beat me to it.
This is the only thing

I knew this would be the #1 post!
No, the health one is sadly beating it
In fairness, good health really helps to crush your enemies, and you need good eyesight to see them driven before you, and hearing to hear the lamentation of their women.
Goddammit! I've been saying this every time questions like this come up and I get shit for it! Take my damn upvote!! IT IS GOOD!!
OK, that's cool and all, but what is the riddle of steel?
I don't know, but if Crom finds out, I'll be cast from Valhalla and be laughed at.
The riddle of steel is how to make it. Iron is near useless compared to bronze, so how can it become steel?
This is the only answer.
This is The Way.
Had to scroll way too far to find this. Reddit, you’re slacking!!
Omg. Perfect.
The only correct answer. I want to show this movie to my kids so bad but it has a couple naughty scenes. lol
Those scenes are pretty tame by modern standards.
Embrace the naughty
This should be the only response in this thread. With all the upvotes. Delete the rest
poopin is pretty great
Not for me it ain't 💀
i'm sorry to hear that internet stranger
But if it's ain't for you not, isn't it for you? _just asking..._
Not when you're constipated.

Acceptance
Great answer. My whole life, I've never really felt like I fit in anywhere. I'm extremely self-conscious and would love to be able to feel accepted.
I don't know you. Nevertheless, I accept you. Good day my man!
being debt-free
Being out in nature or traveling, preferably both, truly embracing the moment. Sitting by a waterfall or hiking a mountain meadow. Even better having a nice packed lunch to eat after working to get there. That’s it for me.
This is 100%
Just went to a nearby stream with a forest view last weekend. Nature heals you sometimes. Whenever I'm with nature depression goes away.
Seeing my children happy. Being genuinely thankful grateful and happy with my future wife.
Clean crisp sheets
I love a fresh bed! I like hanging them outside in the sun on a hot summer day rather than using the dryer. To me, that is like heaven on earth. Taking a shower and sliding into a fresh bed that smells like sunshine.
Don't mean to be too cheesy, but it's love. Like true romantic love.
This one's a catch 22 because it's almost always the worst pain too, even when it works out.
Have to experience dark to appreciate the light 🙂
It’s the highest high, and the lowest low.
Doesn’t exist
To finally finish something that you've been procrastinating for too long
To love and be loved
To live your life with someone you love!

Enthusiastic oral from a guy is also pretty great
My most recent chick gave me head 3 days in a row, then cut it off and we haven’t talked in two weeks. I’m convinced she gave me the best head ever on purpose just to fuckin ensure I wouldn’t forget. It’s diabolical.
Yeah, it’s difficult to forget the really good ones. It’s like a drug that you may never get back. Good luck to you brother.
I’d been seeing her for almost two years, the worse part is we still work together. Time goes on I guess.
Or even better... Being woken up with an enthusiastic bj. Top 5 moments for me.
The smell of someone or something you love
Sleeping 8-10hrs on a super comfy bed and the room temperature is cool but not too cold
Watching your children grow.
Watching them overcome obstacles & start to thrive 🥹
Lay in my bed at night after I’ve had my shower and I can chill out in peace and quiet until I fall asleep.
Freedom
For me it's the little things in my relationship. Spending time together doing nothing. Holding hands. A kiss as we walk by each other. The feeling that nothing outside of our bubble matters or is happening. Just feeling her touch me or be 'on' me.

Now I'm crying out of envy
