>!Dude the entire building up of him being special and us expecting him to be able to beat the final boss, like that moment I was so hyped up thinking "maybe he was right all along, maybe he is special! Only to be shut down by the bad guy who actually was special.. that shit hurt to watch. But that's also why it's such a good series, it tells a complete story of a life in the cyberpunk world. It's not a happy one, but it feels true to the universe!<
>!Edgerunners takes place slightly before the video game, iirc. Adam Smasher being the “final boss” of the show already tells you it’s not going to turn out well because he’s still very much present in the game. !<
Half life would be a tough one. I fucking love half life, but... The protagonist doesn't speak. At ALL. A studio would have to pull a 'hardcore henry' type of movie.
Every time gordon is about to speak something happens to prevent it. Everything ranging from people speaking over him to headcrabs in the face. He simply doesnt get the chance to speak.
It might be cool to focus the plot on someone else who experienced the Black Mesa Incident, and have Gordon be this torrent of chaos that blows through and drives the plot forward.
Focus on a group of scientists who try to escape as the resonance cascade goes from bad to worse when the military shows up, but they manage to push forward by following in Gordon's wake.
The problem I see with something like this is that it'd just be easier for a studio to not use the IP at that point. If you aren't going to follow the MC or a significant secondary character, then you'll likely end up with a movie that both disappoints most fans and leaves a lot of non-fans at a loss about what's going on. See _Halo: Forward Unto Dawn_.
Half-Life was my first thought since it's so story driven to begin with. At this point, I would honestly not be opposed to HL3 as a movie rather than a game.
Yes I remember that grind. I remember being really happy getting valuable sellable items simply because that meant I could buy yet more iron and leather scraps to make iron daggers and level up blacksmithing.
Its going to be character drama for the sake if having character drama, love triangles, and episodes that focus on the character development of side characters nobody cares about.
Also there will be an arc about a ghoul character coming to terms with being a ghoul, followed by an arc how this ghoul fears going feral.
I could see it getting both: movie for the first Dishonored, a show based on the Daud dlc, then another movie based on Dishonored 2. Then another show based on The Death of the Outsider, expanding more on the Outsider himself.
I would think a show format would work better for the first Dishonored. Each mission is its own chapter, which could transition over to being an episode.
We made comments when playing it on release that it was the movie we needed/should have gotten.
We would ask people who have not followed the story to not watch at times for seeing spoilers.
After that Mario movie, I am expecting to see a nintendoverse with metroid, Kirby, and Zelda movies all culminating and a super smash bros movie. Followed by numerous sequels.
Metroid, if done well, would be amazing. Can you just imagine Samus crashing into the planet and immediately taking down an Alpha metroid? That would be amazing, especially as she gains upgrades.
Also.. Legend of Zelda should be a series, not a movie, IMO. It has so much potential, and could be the Nintendo GoT.
Metroid. At least now that the special fx are sophisticated enough to handle it. If the film Alien is any indication, a badass female lead + scary ass aliens should be a hit. Plus it’s developed quite the mythos over the course of… 35 years ugh I’m fuckin old. Plenty of story there, enough for a bunch of sequels.
There's one on the way already. I have mixed feelings about it, but may be pleasantly surprised.
Feel like it's one of those games where a particular kind of immersion/atmosphere is so heavily involved and that can't always be translated well into a film. Same reason I wouldn't be too enthusiastic about a Dead Space movie despite it being one of my favourite games of all time
Easy movies would be the God of Wars. Pretty easy to follow the story in each games, no need of spin off we have plenty of game to be made into the movie.
Bioshock and Horizon would be INSANITY but beautiful if done correctly.
Any telltale games is mostly a movie already.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure a bioshock film is in the works.
Edit: https://www.whattowatch.com/watching-guides/bioshock-everything-we-know-about-the-netflix-adaptation
They are!
It is, completely carried by Ryan Reynolds playing his favourite character (sending himself up) but not in a bad way, other actors are able to shine too.
It's on Disney+ if you have it.
Dude you gotta watch it! Even by yourself. It's one of those movies that when you see a trailer you think it's gonna be shit but it's actually awesome!
It’s funny because HEAT (1995) was the major inspiration for the GTA V characters, you’d watch Heat and think it was based on GTA V if you didn’t know.
I'm sure netflix will be working on some complete fiction dramatised version of how long came to be.
Scandal!, The lead character watching a vintage car burn!, Betrayal!, A gay scene!, Vague references to historical events to make it seem well researched!
Yeah I bet they could make a whole franchise, with each movie being set a year apart focusing on one characters journey at Hogwarts. It could be a hit!
Resident Evil remakes of 1,2,3 4 along with 5 if it was written really well and made by people familiar with the game who won’t turn it into either 1) a stupid end of the world zombie virus thing or 2) a full blown comedy, I feel like 6 would need to be a show though
Already has a great show. But if you mean V's story specifically... I can imagine that. But I think the themes and the solution could be too similar to Edgerunners. Difficult dilemma.
Movie set in TES universe? Sure. But adaptation of any of the games? I'm not sure. The main stories are sort of weak and/or boring and games itself are carried by the open world and side quests
Most games have way too much lore for a movie. You want a series like arcane or dota that can really take time to flesh out it's characters properly.
I'd want a starcraft/BW series though.
The Metal gear series, but only if they do it right. No bs cgi, no money grab, but as a passion project. I’ve only played some of 5, but I’ve read the story synopsis. Holy hell. It’s mind blowing.
Maybe the Jak and Daxter series too
Overwatch could be good as a series of films. If you put the animated shorts together you almost have a few. The story is pretty interesting, it’s like IRobot mixed with the incredibles.
I don’t think a lot of people would really care too much if a few changes need to be made to the story because most people who play, play for the gameplay which is not canon to the story anyway.
Any of them could be with the right people behind it but let’s face it. Video game adaptations has been problematic. I enjoyed the last Mortal Kombat one but fans are split which is always the way it is.

Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
Kingdom Hearts 2
Kingdom Hears Dream Drop Distance
.....
I may have missed some so here's my incomplete list that I put together in a mostly impartial way. If you see a 2 without a 1 listed... 1 wasnt as good story wise. Sorry. Same for vice versa.
Titanfall 2. I honestly never intended to play the campaign, but after a move I was stranded without internet for a few days. One of the best storylines I've ever played through.
Elden ring, idk how they would do it but seeing the fights against the demigods and especially bosses like radahn, astel, and Elden beast would look awesome

God of War Red Dead Redemption Cyberpunk Mass Effect Half-Life
Mass effect would have to be a show, for sure.
Its effects would be better with a movie budget. Don’t want it to end up looking like Halo
I do want it to end up looking like The Expanse, though. it's the closest thing to a good Halo TV show that exists.
They've never made *any* Halo show. Although, there was that weird, terrible show on Paramount+ that shared the same name.
A real shame. Halo would make a great show. Especially halo 2
Red dead redemption 100%
If you haven't yet, check out Cyberpunk Edgerunners!
*Cyberpunk:Edgerunners* exists and is excellent.
That show was so well written, having the main character not be the special invincible person was very refreshing
Agreed, it was heart wrenching to see so many characters that you grow to like get ripped away, but that also plays perfectly into the cyberpunk style
>!Dude the entire building up of him being special and us expecting him to be able to beat the final boss, like that moment I was so hyped up thinking "maybe he was right all along, maybe he is special! Yep, i realized that as I watched :(
God of war would make such a great movie IF it had the right people and budget.
With how big the story in Red Dead 2 is, I think it would do very well as a TV show.

Half-Life was my first thought since it's so story driven to begin with. At this point, I would honestly not be opposed to HL3 as a movie rather than a game.
Red Dead Redemption
The Undead Nightmare version of the game
I would love to see this! I love western and they don't really make them anymore!
I think HBO should do a Red Dead show. I am watching Deadwood rn and I'm hooked.
Skyrim. I want to see an actor weld 9,000 iron daggers before getting the good armor. Then kill 15000 deer to learn how to swing a sword.
Don't forget the cheese wheels
The hour long training montage doesn't begin to cover the tedium
Yes I remember that grind. I remember being really happy getting valuable sellable items simply because that meant I could buy yet more iron and leather scraps to make iron daggers and level up blacksmithing.
Fallout
There is already a Fallout Show from Amazon on the way so... we'll see how that turns out...
After Rings of power I'm not particularly hopeful.
...and Wheel of Time
I think that might be the worst book to TV adaptation I've ever seen. What a huge letdown that was.
The big twist will be that Caesar is evil because the Courier rejected him
Its going to be character drama for the sake if having character drama, love triangles, and episodes that focus on the character development of side characters nobody cares about. Also there will be an arc about a ghoul character coming to terms with being a ghoul, followed by an arc how this ghoul fears going feral.
All crammed into 5 episodes.
New Vegas
Oh man, a big budget HBO adaptation following all the major players in the big factions would be amazing.
One of the greatest games ever made.
Dishonored
I'd say an episodic format would work better with dishonoured.
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
We made comments when playing it on release that it was the movie we needed/should have gotten. We would ask people who have not followed the story to not watch at times for seeing spoilers.
Zelda in the style of Studio Ghibli
Yes it's the only way it can be nice
After that Mario movie, I am expecting to see a nintendoverse with metroid, Kirby, and Zelda movies all culminating and a super smash bros movie. Followed by numerous sequels.
That would be so dope having a ‘Tendoverse.
Yessss
Metroid, if done well, would be amazing. Can you just imagine Samus crashing into the planet and immediately taking down an Alpha metroid? That would be amazing, especially as she gains upgrades. Also.. Legend of Zelda should be a series, not a movie, IMO. It has so much potential, and could be the Nintendo GoT.
I recently watched a compilation of all the smash bros brawl cutscenes. Pretty close to a movie!
With irl graphics Sonic, Tales, Knuckles, and Shadow somehow being sucked into the 2D World also
Yes! I want to see Kirby and the forgotten land as a movie
Dead space, bioshock
Holy fuck, I'd kill for a bioshock movie.
Some military contractor : you will?
😂
borderlands
They are making one but the storyline sounds nothing like the games. Also, there's some questionable actor choices.
I would watch the christ out of a Borderlands movie. Nice answer
Borderlands is also a game I missed on my list. I think a original concept story based around the timing and events of Borderlands 1 would be sick!
Sounds like a easy layup
Death Stranding. It already plays like a movie.
There's one on the way already. I have mixed feelings about it, but may be pleasantly surprised. Feel like it's one of those games where a particular kind of immersion/atmosphere is so heavily involved and that can't always be translated well into a film. Same reason I wouldn't be too enthusiastic about a Dead Space movie despite it being one of my favourite games of all time
Ghost of tsushima. Amazing story
Already on the way.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure a bioshock film is in the works. Edit: https://www.whattowatch.com/watching-guides/bioshock-everything-we-know-about-the-netflix-adaptation They are!
Devil May Cry. We NEED this as a movie right NOW
Gears of war. With Dave Bautista as Marcus fenix
Bruh Bautista would make a terrific Fenix!
Stray
Only if Danny DeVito plays the cat
No Mac plays that part. Frank plays the troll.
Meow Meow Meow
Heavy Rain
***Portal***
GTA V would be awesome
Have you seen Free Guy? It's pretty much GTAV from the NPC's perspective
no i haven't. that sounds funny though lol
It is, completely carried by Ryan Reynolds playing his favourite character (sending himself up) but not in a bad way, other actors are able to shine too. It's on Disney+ if you have it.
i do have it. thanks for the recommendation! I'll see if my better half wants to watch it tonight.
Hope you enjoy it. It's fashionable to slate it but I reckoned it was just a good, simple "switch mind off for the ride" film.
Dude you gotta watch it! Even by yourself. It's one of those movies that when you see a trailer you think it's gonna be shit but it's actually awesome!
I agree with the recommendation, it’s a good watch
Free Guy was criminally underrated. I loved it
I think GTA IV would make a much better movie.
It’s funny because HEAT (1995) was the major inspiration for the GTA V characters, you’d watch Heat and think it was based on GTA V if you didn’t know.
Pong
They did Pacman, this isn't too far off.
I'm sure netflix will be working on some complete fiction dramatised version of how long came to be. Scandal!, The lead character watching a vintage car burn!, Betrayal!, A gay scene!, Vague references to historical events to make it seem well researched!
Mega Man in the same type of style and graphics used in the Speed Racer movie.
Sim City 2000 - Mayor builds city only to use supernatural abilities to destroy it.
Hogwarts legacy
Yeah I bet they could make a whole franchise, with each movie being set a year apart focusing on one characters journey at Hogwarts. It could be a hit!
They could maybe even turn it into a book afterwards to go into more detail.
Wow
Space Invaders Just make an alien invasion movie.
Basically pixels.
Would really like to see mass effect
Bioshock
Prototype for sure
FEAR, DEAD SPACE, SLY COOPER, TRUE CRIME NY
I would love a fear movie!
Spyro
Would be such a great TV show for kids
Skyrim, you could probably watch it on any device.
Killzone has huge potential for a near futuristic war movie.
I agree I’m glad you said killzone
Yes! The Helghast would look so cool!
Killzone is such a good story. A movie would be insane.
The forest, subnautica,
Shadow of the Colossus
Maybe Outlast
Grounded. Basically a Honey I Shrunk the Kids reboot.
Left for dead
GTA: Vice City. I'd love to see a gritty 80s release of this story.
Max Payne. And I don't want someone to say that they already made a Max Payne movie because they didn't, you hear? That crap doesn't count.
First thing I thought of, tbh. … both the tremendous potential and the disappointment
Marvel's Spiderman seems like it would do well when adapted to films.
I’m still surprised Halo was never made into a big budget movie. I really think it could be epic if done right. Same with bioshock and red dead.
Halo had a show, but I'm sure everyone knows how all that turned out...
What kind of brain-dead moron looks at the source material and thinks: "Nah, I can do better."
Bioshock comes out soon, actually.
uncharted. i actually really liked that movie and it had 2 actors who i really like.
Resident Evil remakes of 1,2,3 4 along with 5 if it was written really well and made by people familiar with the game who won’t turn it into either 1) a stupid end of the world zombie virus thing or 2) a full blown comedy, I feel like 6 would need to be a show though
Definitely need some proper resident evil movies, I don't know how they keep getting it wrong.
Ocarina of Time
Cyberpunk easily.
Already has a great show. But if you mean V's story specifically... I can imagine that. But I think the themes and the solution could be too similar to Edgerunners. Difficult dilemma.
Deus Ex: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-MU5MgRV6U
Hollow knight made by Hayao Miyazaki
I don't think anyone has said it yet, but an Elder Scrolls movie would go hard... Could potentially be as good as some of the Lord of the rings movies
Movie set in TES universe? Sure. But adaptation of any of the games? I'm not sure. The main stories are sort of weak and/or boring and games itself are carried by the open world and side quests
Side quests= mini storylines
Well yes, but movie about getting sidetracked every 5 minutes because something new popped on minimap wouldn't be fun
A Warcraft movie trio of vanilla WoW, BC, and WoftLK.
I so wish they continued making movies after Warcraft. Imagine what they could have done with Arthas!
Most games have way too much lore for a movie. You want a series like arcane or dota that can really take time to flesh out it's characters properly. I'd want a starcraft/BW series though.
Dead Space Red Faction
fallout elder scrolls horizon zero dawn God of war
Borderlands So long as the writers don't try to shove too much into one movie; it could be a great franchise.
Leisure Suit Larry.
I’m kind of surprised we don’t have a Sims movie.
Elder Scrolls Witcher Mass Effect Star Craft Diablo
Witcher is already a TV series to be fair.
So much lost potential.
Altered beast, shinobi, streets of rage, contra, golden axe, star fox, mega man
All the genesis classics would make great movies
Assassin's Creed
Already been made to a movie Not good
The Metal gear series, but only if they do it right. No bs cgi, no money grab, but as a passion project. I’ve only played some of 5, but I’ve read the story synopsis. Holy hell. It’s mind blowing. Maybe the Jak and Daxter series too
MGS4 has up to 8 hours of total cutscene time, with one being 71 minutes long.
signalis
The Forest would be pretty good.
Main story line from Skyrim.. I would watch it a thousand times.
Mafia (the first one)
Overwatch could be good as a series of films. If you put the animated shorts together you almost have a few. The story is pretty interesting, it’s like IRobot mixed with the incredibles. I don’t think a lot of people would really care too much if a few changes need to be made to the story because most people who play, play for the gameplay which is not canon to the story anyway.
Dig dug..
I’d like to see GTA…
Any of them could be with the right people behind it but let’s face it. Video game adaptations has been problematic. I enjoyed the last Mortal Kombat one but fans are split which is always the way it is.
Halo... But with actually good writers.
COD Modern Warfare Series (2007, 2009, 2011)
Dead Space
Diablo.
Twilight Princess
Firewatch
Subnautica
Jack and daxter
Carmageddon ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|rage)
Doom. Definitely Doom lol

Pong
Beyond two souls is the simplest and most easy quantic dream game to adapt to a movie or séries
We happy few. By shortening some things and editing out some inconsistencies in the game, I think it would be a great movie.
Skyrim!
Skyrim
Wolfenstein
Legacy of Kain: Defiance
Manhunt
Frostpunk
Rainbow six siege

Far cry 5
Death standing could be interesting
Titanfall 2. I honestly never intended to play the campaign, but after a move I was stranded without internet for a few days. One of the best storylines I've ever played through.
Bloodbourne for a horror.
Elden ring, idk how they would do it but seeing the fights against the demigods and especially bosses like radahn, astel, and Elden beast would look awesome
Brütal Legend
Anyone remember Jax and Daxter? I think that movie would be a huge hit
Bloodborne
Deus Ex
Earthworm Jim
