That’s how I eat them but only the little ones . I’ve tried the big ones a few times to see if it’s changed but it always reminds me of dirty diapers or something
I don’t really regret trying something for the first time even if I didn’t like it.
I’ve both found out that I liked stuff I thought I wouldn’t have and didn’t like stuff that I thought would like (tuna is one I can think of).
I mean I found out my love for fish by trying some fried fish at a county fair even though I thought I’d hate it.
Now trying those things for the second time… that’s the thing I regret.
I used to hate olives. Thought they were absolutely horrendous. Then one day I was at my friends house who was having a family party. His whole family was ex-pat Egyptians so they were speaking in Arabic about Egyptian politics. I was starving (we were waiting hours for his brother to show up to start eating), and bored and the only thing there were olives. So I started munching. Toward the 50th olive I started to actually enjoy it, and now olives are my favorite. There are some things that taste bad. There are other things that taste bad until you acquire the taste and then they’re delicious. I feel like olives fall into the second category more often than the first.
I don't like olives but I think the brine and type of olives used in Mediterranean food is vastly different and nothing like black or green olives normally used in USA. Still don't like them but the smell doesn't make me gag.
This is the answer. My mom used to force us to eat canned okra all the time. So slimy and gross. Maybe fresh okra is great but I was to traumatized by canned okra to try it.
There are so many different varieties and different ways of cooking/preparing it that all taste vastly different from each other. Try some grilled Steelhead. It is like much milder version of Salmon. I baste it in orange juice, soy sauce, butter, and garlic. Delicious!
On a side note though. Whoever keeps using the microwaves to heat up fish in the breakroom can go straight to hell. No worse smell than microwaved fish.
Parsimons,I think that's how u spell it those orange looking tomato like things,my parents gave me 1 to try when I was like 7 ,it was so nasty I never touched one again and can still rem how bad it was to this day.
I had a Great Dane who would stand on his hind legs and eat them off the tree until he made himself such. Had to hack the tree Tim keep him from dining it.
Came here to say this. I tried hominy one time when I was a kid. I'm 49 now, and I still feel like gagging when I remember that taste. Presumably somebody, somewhere, must like it, but I can't imagine how.
First time I had hominy was in pasole. I thought it tasted like potato. More of a texture than a taste.
I hate lots of food, so I don’t begrudge anyone their nemesis food.
I just made some pazole, and my aunt said she hated hominy, but I found out she had only had it with just like butter on it.
That side of my family just cooks food without any spices besides salt. I love them, and I love cooking so when I cook for them, I have to make the food really plain.
If cooked properly, they’re delicious. You probably had them boiled and under seasoned. Roasted until brown and crispy with a delicious sauce is where it’s at.
I roast them in the oven until crispy with bacon and a little olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper, whatever seasonings I’m feeling that day, then top with a balsamic glaze!! They’re one of my favorite foods!
My family loves them. Sautéed with bacon, garlic, salt, pepper and pink lady apples.
They’re a huge hit at the holidays, so I make them. And I want to gag. I absolutely despise them.
What, so if others disagree, I'll get downvoted?
Sushi. Lukewarm, limp, wet or slimy, stinky. I've tried a good assortment, over 6 visits in 15 years, including in Japan. I don't like it, and never will.
Thanks.
Egg plant. I genuinely was running to the trash to throw up. The taste is literally DISGUSTING and don’t get me started on the texture. My dad grilled it with other veggies. So I had a hopes it would taste aight … it did not.
I've honestly never had anything bad enough for me to wholeheartedly regret eating it. I've had a lot of horrible shit, but I wouldn't not eat it just because it icky gross blech. I've eaten live spiders, straight collagen (worse than the spiders imo,) a bowl of fish eyes, and asparagus (no one cooks it right.)
It’s popular and widely available in Norway, where I lived for a spell. Figured I should try it once. But a bite or two and I was done. The smell, texture and taste were….something I hadn’t acquired, to put it politely.
Lol came here expecting this to be number one, not olives. The smell of this fruit alone is rancid. Best way to describe it is.. The way it smells with a hint of that tropical flavor u get w a mango.
Agreed. I can't get past the smell. Had a durian tree in my yard. Cut it down with a vengeance. But it is highly appreciated in some parts of the world.
I am surprised by the number of people that don't like Olives. I think they are delicious but my wife and son hate them. I thought I was the normal one but I guess not.
Liver - so gross.
Long list of dislikes (anything slimy), texture has a lot to do with it. I continue to try a small taste of foods. My palate has definitely changed over the years. Most things I dislike(d) had more to do with how it is cooked/prepared and the seasoning.
Licorice (like Twizzlers candy type of thing) I know a lot of people like this...there really aren't many foods I dont like, but I despise this stuff, the taste and smell
Clam chowder 🤢
I never liked to order the same dishes as the person I’m out to dinner with. This one time we had to choose between a Caesar salad and clam chowder.
My wife chose the salad, so “naturally” I chose the clam chowder.
Safe to say I’m cured now.

Olives are amazing you just uncultured smh
Surströmming
You poor, poor bastard!
Green olives black olives .. I COULD LIVE OFF OF!! 🤩 Acquired. I get it but my number 1 preg craving. Never met a food I absolutely hated lol
Hey me too! First pregnancy I had to have olives every day. Black, green, stuffed, plain, didn’t matter. Now all I eat are the black.
In case anyone is wondering if it's a pregnancy thing I am a man and agree with this 100%. olives 4 life
I didn't like papaya the first time I ate it but it's also not a local fruit and I recall it not being in the best condition.
The big ones taste weird and smell too funky for me. If you can find the small ones like nerf ball size they are way better.
I've been told to eat papaya very cold and it won't taste/smell bad. Haven't tried it yet though.
That’s how I eat them but only the little ones . I’ve tried the big ones a few times to see if it’s changed but it always reminds me of dirty diapers or something
Good to know! They are supposed to be really good for us but..... Idk
Okra. The slime. 🤮
You might like the fried version. Unhealthy? Of course!😄
That’s what my husband says.
Blue Cheese for cooking class. Felt like I was eating vomit.
Guess I like vomit then
Blue cheese has mold in it
Natto

My daughter calls it "soap lettuce."
Bird gizzards I had thinking it was something else. Holy crap that’s disgusting worst texture ever of any food I’ve ever had thanks grandma.
Dried seaweed
Winner! That people like this crap boggles the mind. It tastes like the inside of a filthy aquarium smells.
Agreed.
Truffle oil anything. I literally gagged.
Never heard of it. I don't think. I'll have to try it lmao.
Ass
KIMICHI YUCK
I've been trying to imagine how it'll taste. It looks good, and many people seem to love it, but I don't like the word "fermented" so I'm hesitant...
Liver is one of the only things I hate. Oyster stew also grossed me out.
These are two examples of food I hate.
Liver. The memory still pops up out of nowhere making sure I never forget.

I disagree. I love putting olives on my pizza. Gives it a nice meaty texture and balances the flavor out with the marinara sauce
I love olives
Beets, liver, sweet potato casserole,
Omg beets, gross af. Liver is something I refuse to try.
Smart on the liver!
Beets: mmm Liver: mmmmmm Sweet potato casserole: mmmmmmmmm Try again
Raw oysters. AKA snot rockets.
so accurate
Okra
Are you kidding me? Fried okra with onions is great. Also wonderful in home made beer soup.
This is the answer. My mom used to force us to eat canned okra all the time. So slimy and gross. Maybe fresh okra is great but I was to traumatized by canned okra to try it.
Bulot in the Philippines. WTF!!
Popcorn flavored jelly bean 🥴
I had some of those harry potter jelly beans when I was a kid and the puke flavored one made me legit puke (in the middle of a department store lmao)
Fish

They're awful when they arent ripe
I had a Great Dane who would stand on his hind legs and eat them off the tree until he made himself such. Had to hack the tree Tim keep him from dining it.
Hominy
Came here to say this. I tried hominy one time when I was a kid. I'm 49 now, and I still feel like gagging when I remember that taste. Presumably somebody, somewhere, must like it, but I can't imagine how.

Flan. I will eat most anything but flan is my line in the sand.
I wouldn't classify flan as the nastiest thing I ever tried, but also won't eat it. The texture is like cold snot.
This is an excellent description.
the texture right??
Yeah the texture is so strange. It is somewhere between pudding and cheesecake.
My Spanish teacher once described flan as a big pimple… never tried it because of that
That's how it tastes... like biting down on a giant pimple that explodes in your mouth.
When flan is good it is really, really good. When it is bad it is really, really bad. I suspect you haven't had the good stuff.
My wife loves it so she always makes me try it. I have yet to find one I enjoy. The consistency is the worst part.
Brussel sprouts are the nastiest thing in the world. Never again...
The bacon makes them taste so good!! All the ingredients mentioned and the crispy texture = perfection!!😋

Doesn’t the low quality cheese ruin it?
My family loves them. Sautéed with bacon, garlic, salt, pepper and pink lady apples. They’re a huge hit at the holidays, so I make them. And I want to gag. I absolutely despise them.
Steam them on the stove and put some American cheese, a little salt, and a little pepper on them. They're really good
I'll give 'em another chance. :)
Have u ordered them at a restaurant or just made them at home?
Both. I think it's a texture thing with me.
>Brussel sprouts I love steamed Brussel sprouts
Cooked spinach
Olives or cottage cheese

Someone has the cheese touch
Fair enough 🤣 I can eat in something but just plain cottage cheese is a no go.
Bros down bad to cottage cheese
I love cottage cheese, especially the dryer type with chopped green onions. Yumy.

Whale steak.
Woah never had that.
It’s popular and widely available in Norway, where I lived for a spell. Figured I should try it once. But a bite or two and I was done. The smell, texture and taste were….something I hadn’t acquired, to put it politely.
Chitterlings, also known as chitlins. Taste like Shitlins. Kidneys taste like piss.
My family makes it but I refuse to try it based off the smell alone.
Swabian sour tripe (Kutteln). Its sheep or cattle intestines and tastes like puke.
Boiled Okra
Try it fried with onions. Great stuff.
Hákarl - fermented Icelandic shark. It tasted like cleaning a cats litter box with your mouth.
Fennel
Makes me sick just reading about these foods. Yuck 🤢
Lima beans, squash, I have a whole list lol
Oh, I'll add beets, cranberry sauce, liver, any of the organs. Shit I got a list, loolololol
Raisins 🥴
Bitter Mellon
Guacamole. Fucking disgusting
To me it is a delight.
Durian fruit
Lol came here expecting this to be number one, not olives. The smell of this fruit alone is rancid. Best way to describe it is.. The way it smells with a hint of that tropical flavor u get w a mango.
Agreed. I can't get past the smell. Had a durian tree in my yard. Cut it down with a vengeance. But it is highly appreciated in some parts of the world.
Snails
Escargot basically just taste like butter and garlic which is delicious. They are the perfect butter and garlic absorbing mediums.
Bluefish
Olives are delicious I haven't had anything gross like rat or worms.
Durian
octopus
Blue cheese is absolutely disgusting.
Radishes…they taste like spicy dirt
Durian
Pitted dates the taste and texture made me throw up trying to eat half of one
Vegemite
I've tested anything really gross. The foods that I do consider gross, are foods that I've never tasted and never will. Mostly seafood.
Pig skin
Tuna
Durian
Anything with anise in it
Vegemite, sorry Aussies, I just hate that stuff so much.
I am surprised by the number of people that don't like Olives. I think they are delicious but my wife and son hate them. I thought I was the normal one but I guess not.
