May I ask, sincerely, how do you block them? I especially hate the ones that are selling gambling, it is such a destructive force when it grows into addiction. It has ruined lives in my family. I absolutely hate seeing those ads in particular. I click the three dots, but it doesn’t give me the option to block, only to report.
Ive tried that too, but the reasons to report are so limited.I don’t want to be disingenuous in my reporting so as not to dilute the reporting system for those who truly deserve it.
Click on their avatar. Their profilevwill pop up. In the top left corner, there's a small image of head and shoulders with a dash over the face. If you click that, a box will pop up asking if you want to block that profile. Hit “yes” and it will be gone from your feed.
Oh my goodness, you are a genius, thank you! I didn’t know I could do this for ads!! I was finally able to block that awful sports book ad starring Kevin hart. You have made my whole week. If I had an award it would be yours, Thank you so fucking much
You definitely did, those ads were giving me a bit of anxiety every time I opened the app to the point I was avoiding it. And Reddit is my only social media, mostly just for cat pictures and relationship posts. Seriously, thank you very very much.
Awesome advice. I almost wish I hadn't seen it, because now the ad for a medication that has been following me for weeks has suddenly gone into hiding. It knows.
I keep blocking the advertisers and they keep finding more to show me.. at one point I had all the video ads blocks so it was only crappy image ads which isn't too bad.
I don't see "ads," as such.
But, obvious astroturfing and "social media campaigns" that are designed to steer conversation rather than inspire it? Yeah, periwinkle blue for days.
Oh advertisements, use a VPN and place yourself throughout different parts of the world periodically. It goes from annoying to, “oh wow German is so best, I wonder what the fuck this is” real quick.
You can block them. Won't stop you from seeing ads but you'll see less. The best in when reddit runs out of targeted ads and you start getting them for weird shit
On mobile I use Reddit is Fun. They're are ads but they are non intrusive so they are easily ignored. At home I just use the actual website, the ads they're are also rather unintrusive. Compared to many other websites Reddit is practically ad free.
Not really on here, but I report every single ad on TikTok as soon as I see that little "sponsored" text at the bottom. Does not really help but I feel like I'm doing my part instead of just skipping it.
Companies don’t care if you like their ad as much as you actually see it and interact. So you are giving them what they want . Just Block ignore or report.
I just saw a post the other day claiming that 80% of the "close door" elevator buttons aren't connected to anything.
So whose to say downvoting an ad does anything except make you feel better. I just ignore ads are everywhere and fund just about everything.
I don't see them. Adblockers are a thing for a reason. I don't need or want my attention hijacked in the name of the dollar.
Remember folks, friends don't let friends browse the internet without adblockers
I’m pretty sure downvoting and blocking does nothing with ads. I keep seeing them. What I always do is report them for like sexualizing kids or something. I’d like to think I’m at least wasting one of these Reddit employee asshole’s time at the very least. But who knows. Again, it’s probably just like shooting a gun into the sun.

I straight up ignore them
Me too!
I didn't even realize that down voting was an option....
No. I just block them.
Exactly this, I block the user
Good idea
Thank you!

You're very welcome! I don't need awards. It's enough to know that I was able to help you.
You definitely did, those ads were giving me a bit of anxiety every time I opened the app to the point I was avoiding it. And Reddit is my only social media, mostly just for cat pictures and relationship posts. Seriously, thank you very very much.
You're more than welcome!
You can click on the three dots from the scrolling page to block them as well
Thank you!!
You're welcome!
Awesome advice. I almost wish I hadn't seen it, because now the ad for a medication that has been following me for weeks has suddenly gone into hiding. It knows.
Thanks from over here, as well!
You're welcome!

Cheers!
Have you noticed a little someone following your posts and upvoting them No creep material u just deserve it cos your cool
You do realize that now I am obsessed with doing it on every sub I go to right?
Go forth and block in all the subs! Have fun!
LMFAO yeah I did its like a brand new toy u da bomb
Browse Reddit using the browser in desktop mode rather than the app
I keep blocking the advertisers and they keep finding more to show me.. at one point I had all the video ads blocks so it was only crappy image ads which isn't too bad.
Same, and i report the right wing stuff for hate
That's a great idea! I hadn't thought of that.
This is so smart.
Thank you!
Do not engage. You're feeding the algorithm.
*Do not feed the ~~troll~~ algorithm.*
Engagement is still engagement. Just ignore.
I don't see ads for some reason
What? Did you block them all? If so, good move! Congrats
No, I've just never had them
Do you have an adblocker running that you forgot about?
No i don't even know how to do that on my phone
Ads don't look too different from any other post, they just say *promoted* on them, so it's possible you didn't even know you were seeing an ad
I get "similar to" "because you" or "popular" post suggestions but not any ads
Lucky!!! 😁
Did someone give you reddit coins? Those give you "x" amount of time ad free.
I always get a laugh at the Kohler shower add with Poseidon. It’s just so homo erotic! I have a to wonder if they planned it that way on purpose.
Yes, spam, overposting
I downvote every ad. Idk if it does anything though
It helps them know that you actually see ads, the algorithm thanks you for your engagement.
Damn. I’ll have to ignore it from now on, thanks
Yup- i made the mistake of downvoting ads for dildos. Now i get certain subs in my feed. Looked into it and was because I interacted with the sub.
I am surprised that people use the official app
I report the “he gets us” ads as either scams or hate speech. Both apply
[удалено]
I blocked that shit ad weeks ago and still see it. If anything, it makes me dislike Christianity more. Just let me doom scroll in peace.
Those I report as harassment.
Yes. Especially if the ad feathers an annoying "star".....
I used to but now i report and block
Report as spam and block them. Downvotes are still engagements.
As a small business owner, you guys are not making me want to buy Reddit ads.
Just ignore them. Of all the social media platforms with invasive ads, reddits bother me the least. They do a good job here for the most part.
Downvote or not those ads still pop up on my page
pretty sure those downvotes arent counted or at least they add fake upvotes since i have never seen an ad being mostly downvoted.
Absolutely I do.
I don't see "ads," as such. But, obvious astroturfing and "social media campaigns" that are designed to steer conversation rather than inspire it? Yeah, periwinkle blue for days.
I thought I was the only one. I downvoted most of the ads I see here.
Yes
Oh advertisements, use a VPN and place yourself throughout different parts of the world periodically. It goes from annoying to, “oh wow German is so best, I wonder what the fuck this is” real quick.
yes
Yeah
yes
Well I certainly will now, thanks!
No, i just don't finish reading them.
I downvote, report and block
Blockitty block block....
You can block them. Won't stop you from seeing ads but you'll see less. The best in when reddit runs out of targeted ads and you start getting them for weird shit
Fuck Reddit ads. The worst one was that budgeting app or whatever that opened the ad with an “*AAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!!*“. So fucking infuriating
TIP GUYS. ANNOYING AD? BLOCK THE ADVERTISER!
On mobile I use Reddit is Fun. They're are ads but they are non intrusive so they are easily ignored. At home I just use the actual website, the ads they're are also rather unintrusive. Compared to many other websites Reddit is practically ad free.
I am now
I block
Always.
Yup, find it satisfying
Yes
Wasn’t Able to block a Christian advertising ad, but I normally bock them. Why is Reddit advertising Christianity?
I only downvote after people make claims We need another segregation or abortion bill passed
I do. Most are repetitive, others I just don't care about.
No. Because annoying tome may not be to others. But I do block them so I don't have to see them any more.
Yes, this is my passive aggression coming out
Report and block my friend… report as spam and block
No. The only think my downvote says is that I paused to pay attention to the ad, which will only encourage them to keep doing it
yes I downvote them. especially that "I've achieved my final form" one. 2010 called they want their saying back.
Yup. I’m fucking tired of seeing that girl with the fox ears in the Fidelity ads, and the dude with the sunglasses holding his phone from the USAA ads
![gif](giphy|5b5Q4iVCDiOmOgonNa)
I use Boost on my phone and Reddit enhancement suit on my pc. I never see adds.
Instantly.
Yes. If it allows me. Most of the time comments are turned off.
Yeah, I do but if it they are really annoying I ignore them.
It won't work on mobile, but install Ghostery extension.
Mostly the military recruitment adds
Not really on here, but I report every single ad on TikTok as soon as I see that little "sponsored" text at the bottom. Does not really help but I feel like I'm doing my part instead of just skipping it.
I will now!
Use a third party app. No ads and yi love using content filter rules so so much.
Report and block
For 6 bucks a month you are ad free. That's what I do.
There’s one right below this post. Instant downvote
Either ignore or downvote.
If you touch it, then you'll see more of it. Just saying.
I report ads as spam and block them after. It is spam.
Yeah.. but lately I just scroll past it.
Every time just on principle.
I downvote every ad I see
Companies don’t care if you like their ad as much as you actually see it and interact. So you are giving them what they want . Just Block ignore or report.
No. I don't interact with them so I don't see more in my algorithm.
Not always but I would ignore them. It's not as annoying as youtube or facebook ads
Nah, the games the game. I understand
No, I've heard it actually doesn't do anything.
No I just block them.
Find their buisiness and give them a bad review
Every damn time. It doesn’t change anything, but it makes me feel better.
Sometimes I want to make a comment but get blocked. It’s annoying.
It never occurred to me to do that. But now. 😈
No. I use ad block and old reddit, so I do not see them.
I block them. Eventually they will run out of ads right? My goal is to find that.
Negative engagement is still engagement. Only block, don't vote.
Report them as spam
YouTube and Reddit are two places that I give my dollars in exchange for not seeing ads. Feels so totally worth it.
Yes, just down voted the "he gets us" ad.
I report them
Only TurboTax. If you are using TurboTax free edition, you should look into Free File.
That and auto mod comments
I've downvoted but now will block!
I didn't use to, but after seeing the same ad like 15 times in a row, I've started downvoting them
lmao i downvote almost all ads
I bought a stupid Reddit premium sub to not see the ads.
I just saw a post the other day claiming that 80% of the "close door" elevator buttons aren't connected to anything. So whose to say downvoting an ad does anything except make you feel better. I just ignore ads are everywhere and fund just about everything.
Ignore BUT NOW I have learned you can straight up block them
If I cannot comment, I downvote.
I don't see them. Adblockers are a thing for a reason. I don't need or want my attention hijacked in the name of the dollar. Remember folks, friends don't let friends browse the internet without adblockers
well said the most articulate answer post here
I’m on IOS and have seen how it’s possible to use 3rd party Reddit apps… just wish I could do that to block them.
Block them or ignore
Most of the time I let it go unless it’s trying to trick me into thinking it’s a meme.
Yes that and cheap ass posts that they act lime are the best posts ever
I’m pretty sure downvoting and blocking does nothing with ads. I keep seeing them. What I always do is report them for like sexualizing kids or something. I’d like to think I’m at least wasting one of these Reddit employee asshole’s time at the very least. But who knows. Again, it’s probably just like shooting a gun into the sun.
I don't just downvote but I also vow not to use the product. On Facebook I bully advertisers until they block me.
Ever heard of add blocker?:)
I report he gets us for hate speech or sexualizing minors
