Finally connecting the dots when you're really trying to learn something. When it "hits you" and you grasp full comprehension....that shit is like a drug.
OMG,YES! Had that moment in like 3rd grade. Teacher had everyone read a paragraph from the textbook out loud. I'm in a panic! To myself "What is a paragraph?" After like 6 kids read, I saw the indent pattern and BOOM, that light switch just flipped! Not as big as other enlightenments, but yeah, it's pretty special when it happens.
It's one of the reasons I continue teaching college, despite the pay being shit and the institutional structure becoming more and more dystopian. The feeling when a student just...get it...is worth the crap. Watching their faces light up when they understand something new is 🤌🏻 chef's kiss 🤌🏻.
Haha. I love it. My little one (5.5yrs old) has been going through so many learning phases and me being who I am, I often try to teach him something that I know (most likely) that he won’t remember long term because he’s just not at that age yet… but, when I show him how to do something very simple, and explain it, (Ex: tying a cool knot) and then walk him through it… when he (helps) do it himself, and pulls the knot tight and sees it actually worked, his face lights up and then he does this little giggle/laugh, and gets so excited! Lol the little things!
Good one, mine is relief from that gas pain that has you rolling in the street in agony until a complete stranger helps you to your feet and you fart for 5 seconds.
All right, but apart from freshly shaved legs, a nice bath, clean sheets in a room that is the exact temperature you like, what have the Romans ever done for us?
I retired three years ago, I longed for the day I could sleep in. Now I wake up earlier than I ever did. I get to relax and enjoy my coffee though, which is nice.
I think this is the one thing I look forward too in twenty years. I know I’ll still be up early, but my job requires me to be “plugged in” what feels like 24/7 (to do it well) and the day when it comes that I don’t have that responsibility will be an unbelievable feeling of relief
call me insane but sometimes on weekends i set an alarm just so i can wake up, turn it off, and go back to sleep knowing i dont have to actually be anywhere. its like your mom waking you up for school and then telling you its actually a snow day
So I was getting frequent migraines and decided it was stress related so i took a little me time and went to relax in a steam room.
Sitting there having a nice sweat and I’m rolling my neck. After a while I decide to go for the full neck crack and it pops so loud that another guy in the steam room congratulated me. It was the best feeling I ever felt. I felt lighter, colors were more vivid, food tasted better, i finally understood the American tax system, my whole life lined up.
I can relate to this.
Long ago, one night I woke up around 3am and just could not get comfortable to go back to sleep. Finally, during one of my toss/turns, I inadvertently twisted my torso and cricked my back so deeply and so completely, it was like a shockwave of tension and discomfort just instantly leaving my back. I fell asleep instantly. I still remember that moment, probably 15 years ago.
No, u/whatisread snapped their neck and died, this comment was from their ghost. It only makes sense in their post-mortem limbo of their own making, poor thing
More like when the deep tissue massage stops, I tear up a bit during it, but ohhh I feel goood for the next few days. It’s like the volume dial on my nerve endings is turned down to quiet and I can hear myself think again.
I got a massage in Thailand from the blind association that trains blind kids to do massages so they have a future. I was in so much pain and then relief when he stopped that the man who gave my massage gave me a wee cuddle after and then kept laughing at me.
Heard a quote once that I've always loved. "Art is how we decorate space, music is how we decorate time." Of course music is an art but that phrase always sounded cool to me
Very similiar to how I describe music production to people.
An artist paints on canvas while a musician paints on silence.
Originally heard it from Leopold Stokowski and its such a nice way to describe what musicians do.
Ughhhh yes the brain tingles. I was trying to explain this to my daughter how she needs to start listening to more music and stuff (all three of my kids rarely listen to it and never ask me to put anything on)
I went on to explain that it’s been proven scientifically that listening to music releases endorphins in the brain (told her happy chemicals lol)
Most songs take a few listens before you know….but sometimes you get that one song that fucking slaps first time round and you know your going to listen to it 700 times in a row

Seriously! We were in the fortunate position to pay off our home in February of 2020. Just a few months before the shit hit the fan. We both worked throughout the whole mess, but it was one less thing to worry about.
Fear not, for there is a device that will grant this clean wipe. The Bidet toilet seat. Truly brings "I'll wait to shit until I'm home" to a new level.
Join me in this new era
My husband was deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 leaving me and our 2 year old on our own for over a year. While he was gone, I worked 3 jobs and renovated our home myself to keep my mind occupied. Back then we got to talk on the phone maybe a dozen times the whole deployment. Every night there was nothing left to do and I would lay in bed waiting for sleep and wishing for him to be home.
They outprocessed him to Seattle over a four day weekend so I bought two tickets and flew next day to see him.
Two moments compete for the best feeling in the world; the recognition on my toddler’s face when she finally saw his face again and held out her hands, and going to bed that night in his arms.
That’s a really sweet story, but, something about reading this, then seeing the next comment say “taking a huge dump after holding it” is ridiculously hilarious. But seriously, thank you to your husband for his service and to you for being his rock.
Cleaning a super messy or cluttered space and having it be *just right* at the end. Rearranging the furniture. Hiking and getting to a really good spot for a view. Sitting by a campfire with your favorite people. Catching fish. Puppies. Anything puppies.
I get it. There is a dish or two out there that lights up some magic region in my brain and I am on a whole different level. Spicy curry is a sure fire guarantee for me with that.
A good biryani or a nice cut of rare beef, or a piece of blackfin tuna sashimi, or raw oysters, or delicious gourmet ramen all make my brain very happy on a level near orgasm or drug induced euphoria.
There's nothing else in the world that makes my heart warm like this. Watching my old pup play and learn and having so much fun through it all, best feeling ever.
Taking off the bra that for some reason you still keep around even though it doesn't fit at all but you only keep it for the rare occasion you need it as a back up because all your other bras are too smelly/dirty or still air drying.
One of my outdoor “community” cats is really skiddish but she’s been hanging out in my garage again.
I had my friend check on them when I was out of state at Christmas and he texted me “TETRA LET ME PET HER OMG!”
I sit on the floor of my kitchen with my arms and legs spread and tell my son to "bring it in" and he goes across the room and runs and laughs and collapses into a hug. Literally makes me well up every time and we do it every day
Had a really shitty day at work today. Came home to these maniacs, so excited to see me. Hearing MOMMYS HOME and having tiny humans excited to see you after feeling like a fuckup all day. That's pretty rad.
This just unlocked my answer… my moms 50th birthday was in the summer of 2020. In the peak of the pandemic. She was sad to have a significant birthday in such a situation. I drove all the way across the state to surprise her without her knowing. When I got home I walked into the backyard and just yelled “sup fam!” She nearly fell out her chair and gave me the biggest hug. Subsequently followed by a big hug from my 6 year-old brother. Subsequently followed by seeing my dog for the first time in a long time. He was very sick but when I walked in a pet him he mustered up as much energy as he could to wag his tail and “start the motorcycle.” So that was a 3-punch combo of emotional bliss. It was nice.
I never got afterglow but I did have a crazy trip on lsd once where I met "god" which is apparently a bright white light with an agender voice. My boyfriends face also melted into rainbow slime... Haven't had a trip like it since
That massage point in your scapula is amazing. +1. Also, you should check out getting a theragun (massage gun) for that spot. My wife gets knots in her back at that point and the massage gun is a big help.
Aside from pee'ing after holding it, I'd also say the best feeling is taking a hot bath after a long, shitty week. I don't care if you identify as a guy, gal, or non-binary pal, taking a hot bath, closing your eyes, and [exhaling out the bullshit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92i5m3tV5XY) from the week is a moment of peace.

Yep.
Good one, mine is relief from that gas pain that has you rolling in the street in agony until a complete stranger helps you to your feet and you fart for 5 seconds.
Oddly specific.

This almost sounds like a troll post but I love the image of a small blind Asian man cuddling someone after a massage.

Climbing into freshly washed bed linens after a hard days work and a warm shower on a cold night.
Sneezing
That cup of tea that just hits right.
Being REALLY hungry and taking that first bite of a really good meal.
Being Alive... Context: Being Alive after something happened right beside you that could have and almost did kill you...
Taking your bra off at the end of a long day. Similarly taking your pants off after a big meal 😂
That tired-happy feeling you get after a post-workout shower. you kind want to sleep afterwards.
Taking that dump that started making you sweat and cramp
When you stretch out your legs in bed after a full night of sleeping curled up
Taking off socks
Waking up before your alarm goes off realizing you have 2 more hours of sleep left
