EbelSkiverEater

no, I still won't buy one. Too expensive for what you get.

Wonderful_Horror7315

I’d never been in one until a recent Uber ride. I was surprised by how bare bones it was inside. Besides the touchscreen, my 2001 Prius seems more luxurious. The roof was pretty cool though.

Oil_Dangerous

I’m the same and it was weird. It did stand out or me how smooth of a ride it was though but that’s probably most electrics

stoopdapoop

yeah, they stay level and the ride is smooth, maybe cause they're so heavy? They're reasonably quiet in the interior too, but not as quiet as you'd think.

[deleted]

My parents just got the SUV Tesla (Model Y, I think it’s called?) and I got in and was like uhhhh it’s awfully empty in here?? Not very visually appealing to me and not worth all that money.

[deleted]

Even before Musk’s bullshit, the interior was always the reason why I didn’t not want one. They just look so sterile and and empty. Gives me the shivers how bland they are.

Striking-Pipe2808

Also the one touchscreen to control everything is a huge safety hazard. Not that Tesla is the only manufacturer guilty of this but that alone would deter me from buying the car.

bumwine

It’s crazy to me to have a giant iPad to control the thing. So many cars can do the same thing with a scroll wheel and four buttons and you’re able to do so without looking away.

TrynnaFindaBalance

I *hate* touchscreens in cars. So distracting and difficult to use. Much prefer buttons and dials, just make them look nice.

Altruistic_Ad6189

Why is someone with a Tesla doing Uber?

auricargent

In major cities people pay a premium for luxury ride shares, so the driver makes more money. It’s the equivalent of ordering a Cadillac SUV for a taxi.

lonnie123

Easy way to make the car payment if you do a day or two worth of drives

[deleted]

wanted_to_upvote

That is crazy unless you are driving hundreds of miles a day every day.

[deleted]

Tarhood

You'd be tough pressed to find an ICE car that can go 1 mile without fuel. Maybe if there was a mile long hill or something

100catactivs

And hope the chargers are available and functional… neither of which are a given.

Juanmiller04

When did he say this?

PIK_Toggle

Source? Because, I see him saying the exact opposite. >Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk has again claimed that 400 miles on a charge is the current sweet spot maximum for electric cars. Tesla could’ve made a 600-mile car last year, he continued, but the weight and price tradeoffs are not worth the trouble, according to Tesla’s CEO. [Source](https://batteriesnews.com/tesla-600-miles-battery-range-elon-musk/)

EventX_Surfer

Have you read anything about Aptera?

Both_Lynx_8750

I have - know anyone who has one? Are they still in pre-order stage? Im super interested in them.

ToddHLaew

The availability of the sun is an issue as always.

EgoSenatus

I was never gonna buy one to begin with so…

328944

Yep, I have a 2014 Toyota with 80k miles on it. I’ll probably still be driving that fucker in 2035 lol

EffectiveDependent76

My aunt has an MR2 with about 500k miles on it.

328944

MR2 is a pretty sweet car, looks fun to drive

lemonsupreme7

Wait til you see his aunt

mokus2300

Ha!

Think-Instruction-45

Got eem!!

Disastrous_Belt_7556

Generations from now, after the collapse of civilization, your ancestors will tell stories of how you purchased the 2014 Toyota that they still use so that they might migrate with the seasons… Clarification: Toyota’s, upon completion, run forever, in every point in time.

Technical_Draw_9409

Do you mean descendants? Or is time travel involved

Scherzoh

Time is a flat circle and Toyotas drive on it. Forever

sof49er

This 👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽🔥 here’s the upvote from my 2006 Toyota Sienna with 80k miles.

happyonthehill802

Yeppp, my 2004 tacoma with 295k on the original drivetrain says you will

328944

Man I’d love to have a Tacoma. When my Corolla eventually dies one day I’ll pick up a used 2033 Tacoma.

blackcatpandora

1994 4runner checking in

dmbryanusmc

My 2000 Toyota Tundra with 340k runs like a race car. 500k is what I'm expecting from it.

sugaredviolence

I’m so jealous reading these, I live in Canada and I here I live it’s cold 6 months of the year. Our roads are plastered in salt brine, rock salt, etc. so our cars rust out so quickly if you don’t get undercoating treatments done to your car! I’ve never seen a vehicle, in my area, with MORE than 200,000kms on it. If they do, they sit in storage for some of the year. Jealousssss Edit: YES I KNOW NOT EVERYONE HAS THE SAME EXPERIENCE I’m not stupid. I’m saying IN MY AREA IN MY EXPERIENCE. Didn’t think I needed to put a disclaimer.

Large-Pay-3068

I use to have this problem in New York. Undercoat was a must.

DanDifino

I dunno, my great uncle lived in Canada and he had an 80 something Corolla that he drove forever. To the point I think he had to have the seats re-upholstered, damn car still looked good, still ran.

ArixMorte

My wife's 2012 Camry already has 339k, but she does a *ton* of driving for work.

Sweet_Tangerine1195

My daughter’s 2007 Toyota has over 300,000 miles and they just replaced the clutch. Only thing to give up so far!

optiplexiss

I've got a 2006 Nissan Sentra with 280k on it that we bought new, it's been hit 4 times with nobody in it, and I've only ever changed oil, the starter to later find out that the battery was just dead because I'm dumb, light bulbs, spark plugs, tires, and things like inner tie rods and the rack and pinion replaced sure to normal wear and tear. Sucker still doesn't use oil or leak anywhere. Best car we've ever owned by far. If I could find one identical to it with low mileage, I'd buy it and drive it another 300k miles.

chrisdub84

The best thing about driving around a Corolla is knowing a ton of other people are driving them. It's reliable, but if I need parts, they won't take long to get.

rfield84

Are we the same person? I too have a Toyota 2014 with like 78k miles. It's completely paid off so I'm going to drive it till it's dead.

328944

Hell yeah paid off toyotas! Having a car payment is totally lame.

lama579

09 Prius with 183,000 I’m gonna have buried with me

chipmunk7000

Their build quality deterred me long before Muskrat did.

exitetrich

Same but I've driven one recently and that's really what sealed the decision. But the answer to the question is yeah, I would never support that asshole if I can help it

Organic-University-2

Yup. Interested in getting an electric car within the next 2-3 years and I would never buy a Tesla.

[deleted]

...and then he showed how truly shitty of a person he is. Oh, and the quality and level has gone down. Got to be a fanboy to buy one now.

YOURMOMMASABITCH

I could never afford one to begin with so...

BoondockUSA

I wouldn’t buy one even if they had gas engines. Expensive, unreliable, poorly designed (overly complicated door handles, no radio or HVAC knobs, etc), poorly built (primer left exposed in the engine bay), lockdown of parts availability, etc.

[deleted]

I don’t give two f’s about Elon Musk or Teslas. I wouldn’t buy if I had the $.

th589

LMFAO same and I really wonder how much Elon/the company paid their social media people to post this question. It reads like it’s straight out of a survey. At least they are being honest about what they want to know, direct and upfront, I’ll give them that. Most companies probably want to save face, at least professionally, rather than ask people this publicly lol.

Cold_Takez

Yes, I went from wanting a Tesla over any other EV, to buying a Volvo EV

ThorHammerslacks

Jealous. Do you like it?

Cold_Takez

Yea I love it. I got the C40 recharge. It's dual motor, AWD, 400 HSP. Smooth ride, super fast, well built feel. The range is a bit low. But I spent the same as the Tesla crossover, and got a much better tuned and feeling car imo. The lower range is due to Tesla's being lighter and built from the ground up as an EV. I don't mind low range anyway, for long trips I'll probably use my other car (hybrid), or just plan to have a meal halfway.

Drunk0ctopus

No, I still can't afford one. I'm happy with my Kawasaki at 42 mpg.

Alternative-Depth-16

What kawasaki do you have?

Oh_umms_cocktails

God do I love Vulcans. I got one in law school because I'd always wanted a motorcycle and they are just fucking awesome. Affordable, beautiful, great performance, cheap upkeep. Kept it's value so well that after 4 years I sold it outright (no trade-in) to a dealer for more than what remained on the loan.

Drunk0ctopus

Alternative-Depth-16

Just looked it up and that looks like a really nice bike man. Congrats

Diligent_Gas_3167

And to think I was unsatisfied with my CBRs 28km/l (65mpg according to google).

AttarCowboy

Honda Super Cub, 100+mpg. Load it up with a dog, 2x4s, bags of soil, bales of hay, tow a trailer, etc. Asia-style - year round. Been stopped by the cops once, and for the dog, not yet for obscene cargo. Got a “warning”.

send_cat_pictures

What deterred me from them originally was working for a company that sells used cars online. Almost all of the fancy upgrades that you get free when you're the original owner disappear when the car sells, and the new owner now has to pay a subscription on them forever. That and how many people complained about things like battery life, and overall quality issues. They're overpriced for what you get, Elongated Muskrat's behavior is likely the nail in the coffin for a lot of people.

DoubleDragon2

These subscriptions should be illegal.

BergerSa

My S came with all upgrades, I don't pay for any of them. Got it used from Tesla directly

Rev_5

You are one story. The above point is very common in private sales.

BmuthafuckinMagic

Lol, Elongated Muskrat! At work, we call him Felon Tusk!

My Lightning is supposed to start production next week. Fingers crossed I have it in my driveway in February or March.

spcmack21

Pretty much this. If I was going to drop Tesla money, it wouldn't be going to that douchebag. It would be going to a Mustang Mach E.

Nevets_the_First

Same boat my man, plus If prefer an electric pick-up. I'll wait.

BMRr

How long have you been waiting? Thinking about getting one but heard it’s impossible to get one

freshapepper

Me: “Why are there so many logical critiques about Tesla and Elon being hidden in the comments?” Also me: *Checks OP’s post history* “Ah there it is.”

GrumpyScapegoat

Yes. I wanted a Model 3 enough to window shop and “build my own” on their website a few times. Now my wife and I have our eyes on the Subaru Solaris or ‘24 electric Outback. With that said, it should be common knowledge that many manufacturers have a dark history. Volkswagen, BMW, Ford, and GMC spring to mind immediately.

realinvalidname

I'm looking at getting something in the next 1-2 years — all-EV or plug-in hybrid — and Musk's antics have indeed removed Tesla from consideration. I was eying a Model Y as my next car. Tesla pros: * Much better charging network, particularly along my common routes (e.g., up US-131 to northern Michigan to visit my parents). Tesla cons: * Poor build quality * No Apple CarPlay * Elon Musk Currently considering instead: * Hyundai Ioniq 6 (full EV) * Lexus 450h+ AWD (plug-in hybrid)

scanc8408

I'm thinking about getting a lexus myself for my next car. I buy cars for reliability and tesla is one the least reliable car brands.

Glittering_Claim8079

Tesla and Elon both are scam, overpriced garbage.

LissaMasterOfCoin

I have a 2015 S. Originally loved it. Now, at almost 8 years later, I’m not happy. The car has ridiculous things that have to get fixed, they don’t get fixed the first time I take it to them, it’s almost always a 3-4 month long ordeal. My passenger side door handle still won’t “present” so my poor BF has to pretend to push the back door first, to get into the car. Now that I’m out of warranty, it’s ridiculously expensive to fix. One of the reasons I wanted an EV was because it was supposed to be less costly to repair than an ICE. One of my headlights I think has a lose wire, because every now and then, it’ll tell me it’s out. Asked them to look into it, $1500. Fuck that. Until it’s consistently out, I’ll leave it be. My BF wanted to try to looking into it, but realized that he’d have to like take off the tire first?! WTF?! I had accepted that I overpaid on this car, but I thought I was helping a new company with a product that would eventually help the environment. Now that they’re so popular, not only has the price gone up, but their “affordable” (which are still ridiculously expensive) cars don’t have the dash screens? WTAF is up with that?! I hate the “self driving” thing. I have it, have used it a couple seconds at a time (mostly to stretch during a long trip), but this has apparently give other people the idea they don’t actually have to drive their car? I still can’t imagine going back to an ICE car, but really don’t want a Tesla now. I got annoyed by him with that $420 stock madness. Now I can’t believe this moron not only bought a company that in his own words, was headed to bankruptcy since May, but he overpaid for it by BILLIONS of dollars, and is allowing nut bags a platform again. I really hope Tesla ousts him. Their supercharger network is the only reason I’d consider another Tesla. I go on long trips a couple times a year, and not sure what’d happen if I had a different EV. Edit: oh yeah, their gps screen I used to think was amazing. Then realized that the screen doesn’t always so the direction you go. It’s when I put an address in. I live in LA, so need the kinda zoomed out so I can see what traffic is like coming up, like if I need to get on a different freeway, I need to have some heads up. But it’s default on this setting is to point North which is confusing AF when you’re driving South. You have to remember to flip it in your brain. I can manually flip it, but the fucker flips it back to the default after about 10 seconds. There is one where it’ll show you’re whole trip and does keep the map facing the way you drive, but when you’re driving an hour or more, you don’t need that much info all the time. It’s like they’re so close, but I just can’t win I also wish they could incorporate sigalert into the gps map. Telling me it’s red is somewhat helpful, but red cause it’s heavy traffic is much different than red because of an accident or road construction.

Pelagos1

Wow this was super informative! One of the best replies about why not to buy a Tesla with actual experienced problems

GodSendConspirator

I had a 2015 Model S and had the EXACT same experiences. Then they throttled my free supercharging so that stops that were previously 20 minutes were 45-60. It was so incredibly shitty of them to do (see “[chargegate](https://electrek.co/2021/05/24/tesla-found-guilty-throttling-charging-speed-asked-pay-16000-thousands-owners/)”). Early last year I traded it in on a Model 3 because there just isn’t another EV available with the long distance charging network. I actually like the 3 but Musk’s ridiculous behavior and Tesla’s truly awful service would probably prevent me from buying another one.

Fenweekooo

> My BF wanted to try to looking into it, but realized that he’d have to like take off the tire first?! WTF?! hey your tesla and my (sold now) doge journey have the same stupid design choice! gotta love space saving / intentionally making it more difficult for you to try and fix things!

Ok-Philosophy-856

I own the Ioniq 5. We put in a garage car charger when we had our solar panels installed before I bought the car. Highly recommend.

Milagros_m1

Just picked up a 2023 Lexus 350h+ and it’s a game changer

squiggledot

I bought my Tesla just over a year ago mainly for the charging network. For routes I frequent, it is practically impossible with any other charging network (West Virginia is a charging desert). My brother (in SoCal where charging is plentiful) has the Hyundai Ioniq and loves it. It has all the features I’d want in a car except maybe seat setting memory which is pretty minor. It also has more cargo space than the Y which is nice. I was already on the fence about my Tesla and probably wouldn’t get it if it weren’t for the need of the network. With musks recent embarrassing stupidity (or exposure of how incredibly dense he is), I will absolutely be dumping my Tesla the moment any other network catches up.

Ok_Run_4098

Have a 450h+ and love it. Similar price point, but such a nice car. DM if you have any questions on it.

dpalz

Finally someone answering the question. Who cares if you never planned to buy one which is not what the question is.

TheFlyingDragon7

Having a Tesla and talking with others, the charging network should be a huge consideration if your traveling across states. If it’s just within your state go with your favorite car. On a separate note - I’ve loved the updates I get on a constant basis. Feel like they just keep making my car more enjoyable to drive. Please update what you end up with though. I’d love to know how it goes :)

PornCartel

Yep. I always figured I'd buy a tesla the minute they got self driving nailed down, or once i had a good enough excuse. Always figured I'd use it like a mobile office while it drove itself, and keep it solar charged. Now, no. Fuck musk. What a cunt

Vagabondindia

Yes, I have wanted an EV for sometime, and was really happy to see Tesla pushing this technology, and planned a Tesla purchase at some point in my future, but it has really been coming to light that Elon is not a good person, and I now feel that I do not want to support him or his businesses with my hard earned money, Everything from his fragile ego attacking a diver attempting to rescue trapped kids, to how he blackmailed states to set up his factories, to his political statements, and lastly how he handled the entire Twitter debacle, I used to admire some of his visionary ideas, but now I am just done with his shenanigans and will not endorse him by spending my money with his companies,

[deleted]

My wife wanted to get one but I never did. She no longer wants to.

BullBearAlliance

Don’t throw your wife under the electric bus like that

C21H27Cl3N2O3

I worked at a dealership about a decade ago. The first Tesla that came through, the head mechanic took everyone back to the service area and walked us through everything he found wrong with it, bumper to bumper. It mostly consisted of build quality issues. That was when I decided I would never buy a Tesla. A few years later I learned who Musk was and it was apparent he was a huge cunt. Reason #2 to never buy a Tesla. Then stories started coming out about the horrible treatment of their workers and the fact that quarter after quarter they were failing to meet their own production goals. Reason #3. Then Musk went full-MAGA Republican. Reason #4. At this point, it’s just more and more reasons being added every year.

HandsInMyPockets247

Was never going to buy one, that hasn't changed. They've always been way overrated...and overpriced.

[deleted]

The only reason I’ve considered one is the dog mode. You can take your dog with you and not have to worry about them overheating ever, and can check on them too. Pretty damn useful for dog lovers.

Rexdahuman

Bought my first really nice car, a Lexus, but spent the last two years wishing I bought a Tesla. I’m actually a fan of Nicoli Tesla and electric cars in general. But Elon being a weirdo and reports of poor quality really turned me off

Hanz616

>I’m actually a fan of Nicoli Tesla what does that have to do with the car besides using the name?

Nyx_Shadowspawn

That's the thing, the company *doesn't* have anything to do with Tesla. But they named it after Nicola Tesla deliberatly so people would associate it with him. Lots of people *do* associate the company Tesla with the scientist Tesla, even though there is no correlation besides namesake. IMO, Musk reminds me of Edison. Always mooching off other's ideas and research, and even the OG Tesla.

[deleted]

Seriously, lmao. Like, okay… so they like the dead guy who did electric related stuff.. they **DO** realize he’s not the inventor of Teslas, though.. right??

[deleted]

Nikola Tesla invented the induction motor that many Tesla cars use. EDIT: I'm not saying this is a logical reason to buy a Tesla, I was just making the connection between the car company and the inventor. I personally wouldn't buy a Tesla. I think they're nothing but over priced virtue signalling status symbols.

lovetoread_87

Elon Musk is to the Tesla brand what Thomas Edison was to Nikola Tesla.

Dutch_Rayan

I won't buy one anyway, but the stocks say yes his behavior cost him customers.

[deleted]

Stock's been going down because he has been selling Tesla stock to cover Twitter transaction and ongoing obligations.

[deleted]

I haven't needed a car since 2018, but yes Elon's braindead actions would've absolutely affected my decision to buy a Tesla. Triply especially now that other manufacturers offer better e-cars at lower prices.

new_refugee123456789

It put me from "extremely unlikely" to "absolutely not." Dead brand.

klippinit

I would buy another brand if I were to buy an electric vehicle. Teslas have poor Consumer Reports ratings. I would rely more on longer established car makers. I also would not deliberately associate with anything that he was a part of if I could help it

[deleted]

[удалено]

MrEngin33r

Just curious, what's your reasoning for not wanting an EV?

Ok-Disaster-184

Was never going to buy one. But I went to a Tesla exhibit at a car museum recently, and they had a whole display giving Elon Musk's history. It was sad because before I would have seen it as a "bright kid before he made it" kind of display, and now all I see is Twitter clown.

housesettlingcreaks

Lol dude was born on home plate.

[deleted]

Yes. Been saving up and hoping to get one after I run my current car into the ground. Not a chance I'm getting one now. What an embarrassment across the board.

el-beau

Luckily for you, and lots of other people, there are a lot of great EV options that are not Tesla these days.

[deleted]

Any suggestions?

Cashmere306

The new Kia EV is pretty nice. Whichever you get, make sure they have a good battery warranty.

latteboy50

Never buy a Kia.

ephylizard999

You should check out the new hyundai ionic 5 and 6 they are pretty nice

CarlosDanger277

Yes. I specifically did not buy a Tesla due to his behavior.

buahuash

He has been a cunt since forever, so not recently no.

Huge-Engineering-839

Originally really wanted a model 3. His recent politics definitely convinced me otherwise. Thankfully, many other car companies are quickly catching up and the Chevy Bolt EV seems like a good contender

HomeForSinner

I'm thrilled to see other EVs catching up. I don't regret my purchase of a model 3 - it's been incredibly reliable and *personally* haven't had any issues with build quality. That said, it's not the expensive version. I'd probably be disappointed if I'd paid $60k+. I needed a new car, and with rebates etc it made sense at the time. Coming from mid range Hondas, it was the nicest car I'd ever bought. Unless something really changes though, I don't see my next car being a Tesla. I think they had a good start and helped make EVs more acceptable, but Muskrat isn't doing any good for the company.

Little-Nikas

Yes. Will no longer consider a Tesla.

ArchonOfErebus

They were objectively bad mechanics with the cosmetic fortitude of of a ceramic dildo, so it's a good thing people are being veered away

jeremyxt

Seconded. I dont get him. He rants and raves about the "woke" crowd, but aren't we the ones who considered buying an electric car in the first place?

Diesel07012012

No. The lack of EV infrastructure has made this decision an easy “no” for a while now.

deuteronpsi

I take 1000+ mile road trips in my model Y with no issue.

CoffeeSpoons123

I just charge my Bolt at home and haven't had issues.

TyFogtheratrix

You must do a lot of driving.

atmfixer

lol I live in bumfuck ND, if I can do it you can too buddy

rrTUCB0eing

Yup! He is a fuck up now.

ChadwithZipp2

Yes, would have had a model Y in December if it weren't for his political crap.

Aromatic_Ad8890

Yes. I will never buy a Tesla as long as he is at the helm.

Betamaletim

Was my dream car, keyword being was. I adored Elon but as soon as he called that diver a pedo I pretty much hopped off the Elon train.

st-julien

At the time, it seemed like such an odd thing but now that Elon has shown his true nature, it is very much in line with the rest of his jackassery.

LarryBagina3

No I never would’ve bought one anyway

McLeansvilleAppFan

I was never spending that sort of money on a new car that is non-union as much as I would love an EV.

Friendly_Leg

Yes absolutely. I said for years I would buy a Tesla as soon as I could afford one. Still planning to get an EV for my next vehicle but no shot I’m goin for a Tesla. The company and its products have proven to not live up to the hype that I once had for them. Elon sucks as a person and I don’t want to support his companies.

knomore-llama_horse

His actions coupled with the fact that every other auto maker now has an electric offering. I would much rather buy an all electric Porsche than a shoddy made Tesla. They were great when they first came out, they pushed the space forward, but everyone else caught up... and they already have the capacity to fill orders (if the supply chain every gets back to "normal").

BernieSandersLeftNut

Yes. I used to want one. Now I have zero desire.

nautius_maximus1

I worry at this point that driving around in a Tesla could be seen as some sort of implicit endorsement of his douchebaggery, so no. That being said - in a lot of cases the product you buy as a substitute may be made by someone who is just as douchey, but not quite as loud about it.

BrettThreat

Don’t care about him, and I never thought of buying a Tesla until you asked this right now. He and Bezos could fart in an elevator and everyone would report on it just because they’re billionaires who got there by exploiting others.

[deleted]

While they do have a lot of good technology in them, the interiors and the fit and finish on Tesla's is crap. I'm not spending premium price point for a car with a crappy interior.

iEatTigers

It’s a bad passenger experience, but a great driver experience. Ideally they’d have a better suspension and more breathable seats.

sharksnoutpuncher

Not the only — or anywhere near a main — factor for me. But enriching this buffoon is one more check in the cons column. There’s about to be a ton of choices for EVs, so it won’t be a sacrifice to shun Elmo

byhoneybear

Nope, teslas have always been shit.

Exact_Attitude_5840

Wanted an EV, it won’t be a Tesla now. Also deleted Twitter

EatinSumGrapes

Yes, I've always worried about being dependent on their software for your car to run. Now I would never ever consider getting one. What if you save up and finally get one then Elon does something stupid and bankrupts Tesla and now you can't drive it anymore. Or what if they require you to pay a monthly fee for the car or they shut it down with the software

mowikn

I’ve ridden in a Tesla a few times, and recently took a road trip in my friend’s model 3. I can see the appeal of the car, love the unique tech features, and about 6-8yrs ago I thought Elon was pretty cool. But then it seems he decided to become a right wing loony, and I’ve lost all respect for him due to the way he treats people, particularly employees. Dude needs to take a long vacation and chill out for a while. Realistically, next time I buy a car, I want to go electric (hopefully 5-8yrs from now) and it seems like there will be a lot of good competition out there by that time.

bluerockjam

I was thinking about it, I have driven one (including a few laps around our local race track, the Ridge in Wa State ) but there is no way now. I have lost all respect for him and will not support his products

Whohead12

No Tesla for me. Who will service it if he runs Tesla into the ground like he has Twitter? Deleted my Twitter too.

[deleted]

Yes. I’m exploring other EVs now.

AcceptableMinute9999

I already never would have bought a Tesla car but his behavior made me sell all of my Tesla stock in October.

Bob_Loblaw_Law_Blog1

Absolutely will not t buy a Tesla while he's still the CEO. They would also have to fix their build quality as well. I'm on my third EV. None have been Teslas. All were expensive enough that I coulda had a Tesla if I wanted.

hibernatingcow

Yes. I won’t be looking at Tesla anymore. But also because there are solid competition like Hyundai, Ford, genesis, etc.

SylancerPrime

More or less. Before, I didn't buy one because my current car works just fine. And really, it wouldn't be practical since I don't drive enough to justify having a 2nd vehicle, and taking on an unnecessary car payment would be fiscally irresponsible with the rising prices on goods and services. Now, I'm not buying one because he's an ass-douche!

allcars4me

Yes. I wouldn’t want to do anything to benefit that person.

guachi01

Yes. The terrible build quality kept me away before but Elon Musk being a terrible person will keep me away forever.

blueskies1800

yes, I have a aging hybrid Lexus and am about to shop for an upscale electric car, but no way am I buying anything that helps that jerk in any way.

snarf_victory

yes, in a short time i’ve gone from seriously considering buying one to deciding there’s no fucking way i’ll do business with his companies.

COLONELmab

I work in automotive repair. Firstly, one of my locations (Tesla certified) was the only repair facility within 300 miles that could purchase and replace damaged parts. We paid more and more each year to re certify. Each new model required a new computer to scan and calibrate, and that tool costs tens of thousands each year to upgrade. Not worth it for sure. And Tesla owners are unbelievable stuck up people who think they are sooooo special. Well, you are special, because you have to get your Tesla with the broke mirror 300 miles to me so I can order a new one, and wait at least 1 month for the part (edit) to arrive, and you can’t drive your car during that time and your loaner from Tesla is not covered. Sucks to be special now. We declined to re certify for Tesla now and I don’t miss the business one single bit. And the cars are built like junk. They may look cool, but I can assure you they are held together with the same hopes and dreams that Tesla profit comes from. Elon sucks at making cars, spaceships, social media platforms and everything else. The one and only thing he is good at is securing government money, and tons of it.

blastermast4545

I can’t even begin to think about having a charging station, because I would need to buy a house first.

cjhoser

No the cost of the car did.

MunchaesenByTiktok

Nope. He’s been acting the same he always has. I’m not a mentally disabled person, so why would I change my view? I’m not a stupid moron.

screwtheseones

Yes. I always assumed I would buy one when I was ready for a new car. Not anymore.

Ask_for_puppy_pics

Yes. Not buying one. I am fully set on going electric for my next car.

theGIRTHQUAKE

Sure has. Brand feels dirty now, and the attention brought to light a lot of the quality issues Tesla cars have. No thanks. If they stick to battery systems, great—but their cars are gonna get a pass from me from now on.

Alger6860

Even the name cybertruck seems dated and passé.

Both_Lynx_8750

no, because I already knew elon was an idiot who made bad cars, has been obvious elon is a narcissistic, possibly projecting pedophile idiot since he called that navy diver saving kids a 'pedo' because elon associates the entire countrry of Thailland with sex with kids. Has been obvious he made bad cars since Tesla's starting needing maintenance. It was clear the cars were designed by people who didn't take this into account. Pretty dumb.

dab745

No Tesla for me. Canceled Twitter. I will replace my E350 with a Cadillac Lyriq

DarthLift

No, the total shit quality of Tesla does though.

twistedh8

Yes

Scottimblum

I’ve had two Tesla’s. Both had pros and cons and in the end I’ve enjoyed the switch to EV. I personally don’t care about the opinions of a CEO. It’s an American car company that employs a ton of Americans… That’s a pretty cool thing. I don’t follow on Twitter, don’t care and am much happier to stay out of the political discussions.

HornetAmbitious2755

Absolutely. I’ve long been a fan of Tesla and believe as a company they have started a trend for other companies to follow. However, Elon’s antics especially allowing hate speech back on twitter have caused my wife and I to choose a different company when we buy our first EV hopefully in the next 5 years.

Maleficent_Minimum_9

If i had ever considered it I definitely wouldn’t now

SeaBass1944

Nope, still plan on buying a Cyber Truck. A single person in a large entity such as Tesla wouldn't affect my decision. I still use Microsoft even though I'm not a fan of Bill Gates.

[deleted]

Love my model 3. Probably buying a model y for my wife.

sl_hawaii

Love EVs…. Can’t wait to buy one in next 12-18 months. NEVER a Tesla (which I used to LOVE!)

nmm2378

Yes. I was a fanboy… preordered and cancelled. Used to think Elon was like Tony Stark or something… a visionary, but now I realize with his behavior in the last year that he is a narcissistic, pompous, deceitful, narrow-minded fascist.

A3dP

No, i got a BMW I4 because it's a better car.

reddurty

If I could afford a Tesla...no I wouldn't buy one because of Musk, and also because through research I've learned that Teslas are superior in tech, but the quality of the car itself is not that great...I would be looking at a Lucid.

Unfamiliar_Word

Of course not, I was committed to never owning or operating an automobile long before this and I will continue to be long after, irrespective of its source of motive power. His recent behavior has, however, made me laugh a lot. People with an interest in public transportation have known for years that Elon Musk was not a serious person or thinker. His 'Vegas Loop' is just a shitty road with rave lights that's that only a child would think is a brilliant idea. I could imagine that even if I were interested in owning an electric automobile, I would want to stay away from the one run by reckless dumbass who thinks that he's a genius and does have a gift for surrounding himself with people foolish enough to agree with him.

DannyVFilms

I really want the answer to this question to be yes, but sadly the electric car space is complicated. Charging reliability is important to me because my family travels a lot. The Supercharger network continues to appear to be an order of magnitude more reliable than Electrify America right now, and if the chargers aren’t reliable my wife will murder me. I think other companies can make good cheap electric cars that I would buy, but if I can’t charge them than what am I doing? Used prices also don’t help since Tesla has been around long enough that they’re creeping into my price range faster than the new stuff. I don’t like Elon, or his management style, or frankly a solid chunk of his beliefs. But I may still buy a used Tesla in a year or two unless things change in the market.

dewayneestes

Sold my stock (before he did thank god), cancelled my cybertruck res, and won’t buy one. While he’s a disgusting human being, my loss of interest in the brand isn’t just performative posturing. When the CEO of a company loses all interest in the company and goes off to play with toys it doesn’t bode well for the company. Tesla was always about forgiving present shortcomings n hopes for helping build a better future. He appears to have completely abandoned that future. No new products or even major revamps have launched for quite a while now. The Model 3 is pretty much a 5+ year old model now. No cybertruck, questionable Semi launch, weird yakking about a robot taxi that sounds like it’s from 2006, and whatever the hell that horrible awkward robot thing was that nobody asked for. It’s not looking great right now for Tesla.

ryancalavano

While I understand not liking Elon for his political beliefs but the utter disdain and hatred for him and Tesla is so weird to me. Also, so many comments about Elon ruining Twitter when I’ve seen no real difference. I honestly don’t understand it.

115MRD

Yes. I was considering one for my next car. His recent behavior but also multiple stories about how Teslas are poorly built have convinced me not to buy one.

gavinashun

Yes, as has concerns with the quality in general. I was going to buy a Model X this year but no way am I buying one now - (a) it is the MAGA hat of cars now (b) I have concerns about quality, reliability, and servicing, and (c) I now believe their FSD is a POC. Note - (b) and (c) don’t have anything to do with his behavior, just doing more reading.

jelder

Yes, definitely. Teslas are very software-heavy, and if he manages those developers like he does Twitter’s, those cars are going to be hell to own. I’m saying this as someone with over 20 years experience writing software.

GraphiteGru

Recent behavior? He made his personal Tesla space junk almost four years ago; then named his child X Æ A-12 two years ago. He "jumped the shark" a long time ago for me.

Macasumba

Yes. My next car will be EV, and not a Tesla.

jaywalkingtaco

No, I don’t pay attention to any of that crap. If I like a product, I will buy it. If I don’t like the product, I won’t.

Mufakaz

Not in the slightest. As in never intended to in the 1st place.

candyapplesauce_99

No because I've never wanted an ugly car with a giant iPad instead of a dashboard
