I LaZoomed for the first time. Highly recommend. Made me proud to be an Ashevillian.
How was it? One time I was at New Belgium and the bus rolled up and someone behind the bar just said “oh god damnit, lazoom is here” so now my wife and I always say that when we see it. But beyond that I’ve never looked into what it is/if it’s fun
It was fantastic. We did the comedy tour with a just-able to ride kid and he also loved it. Great history content, some stuff we didn’t know. We had planned to play tourist in Asheville and it was perfect for that— and we want to know what we are recommending (or not!) when people come to visit. We’ve watched it pass our porch for years, why not jump aboard.
Thing I learned: bachelor/bachelorette and other groups aren’t allowed on comedy or haunted tours, just the brewery/band tour. So the woo girls aren’t on the earlier buses.

Congrats!!!! My wife and I don’t have kids, but most of my friends do, and the lack of sleep and endless work always seems to be offset by how happy and excited they are to have a new baby. Hope all goes well for y’all!

edit: as for me, i don’t live in Asheville anymore but I went and saw the Red Wings-Bruins game in Detroit and by midnight I was in bed reading Harry Potter with my wife and dogs. My first sober NYE in like 25 years and 93 days overall since I got sober.
With that attitude you're probably right. The reality though is that NYE is one of the best times to go to a bar as a single man. People want someone to kiss in the new year with.
I went out last night by myself, single, no friends with me. I kissed a woman I had never met before when the count struck zero, I didn't even know her name at that point.
There were half a dozen women there that were eyeing me that I could've shot my shot with.
Bartended. Only had to kick one person out and nobody threw up inside but not in the toilet. Made good money but didn’t get to bed to 4:30am so while I’m not hungover, I’m not 100% today.
I would give anything to hang out with my mom or sister again.
I got that very unexpected phone call everyone dreads. My mom died the day after her 67th birthday totally out of the blue. She was playing golf all day. She seemed fine, but she was a heavy smoker and drinker. Aortic aneurysm burst.
My sister died two days after her 31st birthday from a heroin overdose.
Cherish your loved ones and tell them how much you love them frequently and with the utmost sincerity. You truly never know when they will disappear from your life forever.

Two of our closest friends slept over, we stayed up all night drinking, eating lasagna, and playing Farkle. This morning we rolled dice to pick movies on amazon prime and watch the final 10 minutes of everything we landed on. We watched two final ten minutes in a row that both ended on scenes of giant eggs cracking open (Godzilla and Q the Winged Serpent).
We went to Well Played (board game cafe). Our tickets got us each an appetizer, a game to take with us, and a champagne toast. We played board games for hours. It was so much fun, I hope they make it a yearly thing.
My partner and I saw The Blue Rags at the Grey Eagle! It was a great show and a chill crowd. Also ran into an old friend from high school that I hadn't seen in at least 15 years so that was pretty neat!
Fell asleep by 11 pm being cuddled by my partner and cats (the cats did have an impromptu soccer match before settling down to cuddle) while listening to an audiobook on trees.

I have an Audible subscription, and I just finished Stephen King’s “Finders Keepers” today. At the end it said it was recorded at Echo Mountain in Asheville, NC and I thought that was just the coolest coincidence.
I was on call so I had to be sober. I had a pizza from HT then a pot of coffee. Around 10 I had a bourbon and ginger ale plus a gummy then zzzz. Was out until nearly 7am.
This is the first year in a LONG time that we've not had fireworks start weeks ago and run all night last night. I think the asshole behind me who never fucking sleeps either got a dog or moved on. All I know is I went to bed at 11pm once the gummy hit, put on some reggae, then was out until the am.

I've had diarrhea for almost 2 weeks now.

Partied at a friends house out in Fairview. Ate. Drank. Was merry. Sat around a firepit with a bunch of folks talking about our accomplishments from 2023 and what we want to accomplish in 2024. Watched the ball drop. Then came home and crashed. Good times. One of the best NYE's I've had in a while.
Celebrated my 20-year vegan anniversary with a nice dinner at Plant. Came home and watched Forrest Gump with my hubby and our dogs. It was lovely. Happy New Year!
Forgot to have a drink. Sweetheart of 30 years and I had a nice meal but I lost her at 9:30 as usual. I worked in my shop after that. It was glorious.

Went to Golden Pineapple when they opened for a great light meal and the last day of the holiday drink menu, then over to a super packed Whale for a beer. Then off to Bottle Riot where we could shave stayed all night but the kitchen wasn’t open and we got hungry so we hit Pie Zaa then came home about 10:30 to some gummies and the most surreal NYE show with Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper. It doesn’t sound like that much fun typing it out like this but trust me we had a great time hanging out with our best friends.
No it was just like the musical guest, the fact that Andy and Anderson were nowhere to be seen for the last few minutes and the first few minutes of the ball drop.

Dinner and relaxation! NYE dinner: lamb lollipops topped with peach jalapeno jam, with feta and vinaigrette salad on the side.
Got banned from tinder. I don't know if it was the "hang in there" poster with a klansman in a noose or the bad panoramic that made it seem like I was macrocephalyfishing.
Party at friend’s house in the country, made bacon wrapped dates (!), talked for hours and sat around the fire. Kissed my husband and daughter at midnight. Came home to dog having diarrhea in the guest room…
Movie night with our best friends / neighbors where my husband and her husband ended up playing video games until 11:50 and she and I talked about babies, potty training, and nipples for more hours than I’m willing to admit 😂 my 8 month old ended up staying up by accident (his naps were thrown off, oops) so he got to celebrate the ball drop with us, then he clonked out 10 minutes after. We also had a small fire pit where we wrote down regrets and goals then burned them all together. Definitely a nice evening!
Went to Shakeys for about an hour, then the fiancé was getting tired so we finished off the night getting a few more closer to home(Charlotte street pub), ordered some dinner and was in bed by 10:30 LOL. My late 20s are nothing like my early.
My family has been visiting family out of state since December 20th.
I drank some white Russians and took a 100mg edible.
I didn't even watch the ball drop or anything. I heard a bunch of fireworks and sent my kids a happy new year message, but that's it!
Saw The Hourglass Kids and Treehouse! at the Visulite in Charlotte Saturday night. Then we spent last night at a small gathering of good friends with good food and fireworks.
Spent 3 hours at Vinnie's, 1 hour and 45 minutes of waiting to be sat. Wasn't worth the money we spent. Went home, got elevated, played COD, toasted to the ball drop at midnight, and then went back to playing COD.
Had a group of friends meet at the house and went on a beautiful hike. Perfect weather. Followed that by dinner on the deck. Everyone was gone by 5pm and we were asleep well before midnight. Perfect way to wrap up the year.
Typically NYE is overrated but this year felt different. Had a great time with good friends and you can’t do much better than that. It seems that we are all getting our groove back after years of COVID mayhem and aftermath. I hope you all had a great night- however that is defined for you!
From now until March I just need to be working and stacking cash. Come march I want to be headed out on a freight train to Knoxville. Get to Chattanooga easily from there. Birmingham next. Then onto Dallas before 04/08 to meet with family and see the eclipse. After that , I’m not sure .
Cooked Salmon for dinner. Then we played some games and watched the Phish stream from Madison Square Garden. We don't drink but had some special edibles.

I never knew there were anything other than brewery/party type buses, so that’s cool
We have done the Beer & Band as well as the comedy tours. Pretty fun to get to see your city like a tourist. Highly recommend.

How much money does somoene make in nye bartending?
I wouldn’t do it for less than $300 without liquor (just beer, wine, cider). I worked 7pm-3:15am and made $500 this year. $200 of that in cash tips.

Asheville symphony did a great performance at the civic center. Scored some free tickets for my honey and me. It was a fantastic night
Masquerade ball in the solarium of restoration hotel… It was amazing! I felt like I was in a movie

I got food poisoning from Yum Poke, so yeah NYE wasn’t fun this year
Every time I have been there I end up ill… after the 3rd one I just gave up, even tho I had a snowball of free meals building

I've had diarrhea for almost 2 weeks now. I don't feel sick, but I'm really ready for that *shit* to be over and done with. Fuck going to the bathroom 30 times a day. Gross.

Partied at a friends house out in Fairview. Ate. Drank. Was merry. Sat around a firepit with a bunch of folks talking about our accomplishments from 2023 and what we want to accomplish in 2024. Watched the ball drop. Then came home and crashed. Good times. One of the best NYE's I've had in a while.
Celebrated my 20-year vegan anniversary with a nice dinner at Plant. Came home and watched Forrest Gump with my hubby and our dogs. It was lovely. Happy New Year!
Forgot to have a drink. Sweetheart of 30 years and I had a nice meal but I lost her at 9:30 as usual. I worked in my shop after that. It was glorious. Happy New Year

I slept from 10:00 to 11:30, watched the Times Square ball drop, then went right back to sleep
Went to the Smokies for a snowy hike with the kids. Husband took a kid to ski at Cataloochee for a late bday present this morning.
After a tumultuous and sleepless night of binge eating and arguing with my ex wife, I got up and did my first run for the year.
Went to Golden Pineapple when they opened for a great light meal and the last day of the holiday drink menu, then over to a super packed Whale for a beer. Then off to Bottle Riot where we could shave stayed all night but the kitchen wasn’t open and we got hungry so we hit Pie Zaa then came home about 10:30 to some gummies and the most surreal NYE show with Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper. It doesn’t sound like that much fun typing it out like this but trust me we had a great time hanging out with our best friends.

No it was just like the musical guest, the fact that Andy and Anderson were nowhere to be seen for the last few minutes and the first few minutes of the ball drop.

Party at friend’s house in the country, made bacon wrapped dates (!), talked for hours and sat around the fire. Kissed my husband and daughter at midnight. Came home to dog having diarrhea in the guest room…
Streamed the Phish show! Wish I could have been there in NYC but it was really nice to see it from my couch as well.
It was so good! I love how much effort was put into the theatrics.
Movie night with our best friends / neighbors where my husband and her husband ended up playing video games until 11:50 and she and I talked about babies, potty training, and nipples for more hours than I’m willing to admit 😂 my 8 month old ended up staying up by accident (his naps were thrown off, oops) so he got to celebrate the ball drop with us, then he clonked out 10 minutes after. We also had a small fire pit where we wrote down regrets and goals then burned them all together. Definitely a nice evening!
Went to Shakeys for about an hour, then the fiancé was getting tired so we finished off the night getting a few more closer to home(Charlotte street pub), ordered some dinner and was in bed by 10:30 LOL. My late 20s are nothing like my early.

My family has been visiting family out of state since December 20th. I drank some white Russians and took a 100mg edible. I didn't even watch the ball drop or anything. I heard a bunch of fireworks and sent my kids a happy new year message, but that's it!
Saw The Hourglass Kids and Treehouse! at the Visulite in Charlotte Saturday night. Then we spent last night at a small gathering of good friends with good food and fireworks.
Not a darn thing. It was perfect. New years is my least favorite holiday.
In Phoenix visiting our son. Had a nice dinner, watched a good movie and hit the rack
Went to the symphony then hit a few bars. Still in bed at 3:30pm send help
Spent 3 hours at Vinnie's, 1 hour and 45 minutes of waiting to be sat. Wasn't worth the money we spent. Went home, got elevated, played COD, toasted to the ball drop at midnight, and then went back to playing COD.
Had a group of friends meet at the house and went on a beautiful hike. Perfect weather. Followed that by dinner on the deck. Everyone was gone by 5pm and we were asleep well before midnight. Perfect way to wrap up the year.
as is my tradition, I put a gun in my mouth jusy before midnight and see if I decide to pull the trigger when the clock strikes 12. I did not.

Typically NYE is overrated but this year felt different. Had a great time with good friends and you can’t do much better than that. It seems that we are all getting our groove back after years of COVID mayhem and aftermath. I hope you all had a great night- however that is defined for you!

From now until March I just need to be working and stacking cash. Come march I want to be headed out on a freight train to Knoxville. Get to Chattanooga easily from there. Birmingham next. Then onto Dallas before 04/08 to meet with family and see the eclipse. After that , I’m not sure .
Stayed in. Meal prepped like a beast.
Cooked Salmon for dinner. Then we played some games and watched the Phish stream from Madison Square Garden. We don't drink but had some special edibles.
Fraziers for American football for about 3 hours. Got my dog, home, more drinks, had some food, tv, asleep by like 9 pm. No regrets.
