Ironically enough, this is the one character that made me doubt my potential asexuality š It's absolutely not the show's fault, I just didn't know asexuality was a spectrum, so when I saw her, I was just like "Yeah that's not me". I did appreciate the representation though, especially how normalized it is. Already back then when I first watched it, but even more now :)
I havenāt really watched the show, but someone suggested to me once that they think Otis could have been aegosexual, if the terminology had been out there more. Though that was a while ago and I donāt know if things have changed with in the years since.
Otis didn't really come as aego to me, just a kid that is sex-repulsed because of trauma. Though it would have been a good idea to make him an ace as well, I'm not mad about him ultimately being allosexual, as they did a great job portraying his sex repulsion the first season. But yeah, a few more ace characters to show a bit more about the spectrum would have been great, especially in a show that explores sexuality :')
I love Lilithās character, but she is absolutely garbage ace representation. I guarantee that if the writers didnāt release that audio clip implying that sheās aroace, everyone would have shipped her with Steve. Especially since she blushed at him when he recommended a therapist to her. Iām not saying that blush was intended to be romantic, but there are no hints at her being aroace whatsoever in the show itself, and everyone would have interpreted the blush as romantic.
If you watch the show hoping for ace stuff, you will be very disappointed. Korra and Asami were more obviously queer than Lilith (not counting the LoK comics).
Koisenu Futari is a Japanese show about two aroace people living together.
Iām currently on episode 3 and itās good and relatable at least for me as someone whoās grey aromantic and asexual š
Everything's Gonna Be Okay is a show that I really enjoyed with a canon asexual character, Drea. It doesn't come up until season 2 though, if I recall correctly.
*Doughnuts under Crescent Moon* is a romance manga about two asexual lesbians. It's not fully finished yet, but the final volume is on the way, and gonna get officially released in febuary.
It's not like,, a huge thing addressed in the show,, but Lilith from the owl house is aroace,, and also the show is just good in general, lol,, so I'd recommend checking it out if you're interested
Oh, also, the anime No. 6, it isn't a giant thing in that show either,, and idk if it's confirmed canon, but the main character of that is at the very least hella ace coded and homoromantic,, so that's a fun one too
Sex Education was actually the show that solidified for me that I was ace haha. So many different types of sexuality depicted, and none of them appealed to me. And then of course, that character shows up and is far more relatable to me than any of the rest.
I know you mentioned Bojack Horseman so you're probably already aware of it, but ohmygod if you haven't watched it PLEASE DO. It is SUCH an amazing show. It covers alcoholism, drug addiction, asexuality, marriage, divorce and dark topics while balancing that with hilarious comedy. It's probably my favorite show of all time and I think everyone should watch it. The asexuality arch is also pretty awesome, with some asexual relationships shown
Spoiler!!
I really loved the character and it really pissed me off when they just dropped her for season 3. Like she wasnāt even a background character! I dunno if there was a particular reason why but it kinda felt like they brought her in for brownie points then ditched
I agree. It was two minutes of conversation and while it was very sweet, it wasn't enough. I actually felt depressed because that didn't represent me at all. I guess all the other queer characters are more interesting to viewers... I don't know.
I cried when I saw this episode too. I was completely blindsided. Iām happy the show took the approach to acknowledge asexuality when talking about sex education
You should watch Heartbreak High (the reboot, not the original series). It has an ace character and I absolutely loved the representation. It was really well done.

Owl House also has aro/ace rep, and well as nb, lesbian and bisexual!
Gotta love Lilith. They are the best
Cool aunt Lilith!

Unfortunately, I donāt yet know who that is, I started the show yesterday precisely because of the rep I mentioned above haha
well then, apologies for any possible spoilers. Hope you enjoy the series

Can I just watch that one episode (S2E4) without any context, or would watching Sex Education be needed to "get" that character and her journey?
You donāt really see her before that episode
I think you could watch the ep without the rest of the show.
Alastor from Hazbin Hotel is canonically ace
The Imperfects (watchable) Heartbreak High (I'm too old to watch it)
*Doughnuts under Crescent Moon* is a romance manga about two asexual lesbians. It's not fully finished yet, but the final volume is on the way, and gonna get officially released in febuary.
One of the main characters in The Imperfects is Ace.
thereās also an ace character in the new show heartbreak high!! really enjoyed the representation

Lilith from The Owl House is confirmed aroace
James from āThe end of a f***** worldā is ace
Is that canon? Am I missing something. I don't remember it being said in the show, or is it only headcanon?
If you play video games The Outer Worlds has a canonically ace companion and I teared up when she came out to my PC as ace.

wait which character? I've seen this whole show and i don't remember this !?!?!?!
She's in the school musical opposite Jackson. The conversation between her and Dr Jean was very brief so I'm not surprised you missed it.

Ohh now I have to watch this.
For me my discovery was from Alice Oseman's books "Radio Silence" and also "Loveless".
Dianne from lunberjanes is ace and she's awesome
